Almost certainly not. Hunt was head of the CIA's Mexico station which had links with Lee Harvey Oswald and was suspected on being one of the "three tramps" arrested after the assassination. He had a deep grudge against Kennedy for abandoning the Cuban exiles trying to overthrow Castro in the 1962 Bay of Pigs invasion. However Hunt was cleared of all accusations by the Warren Commission. On his death bed he made various accusations about the plot but these have been ruled inconclusive, the ramblings of a dying man or just his family trying to stir up interest for financial gain.
Far from it but he was fascinated by the regime, something that was awkward for Hunt who was a Second World War veteran.
The Nixon administration was plagued by insiders giving secret information to the press, something which exacerbated the president's paranoia of a conspiracy against him by the political establishment. The original concept for the Hunt/Liddy unit was to stop the "leaks", hence their nickname of the "plumbers". This proved a useful cover for senior members of the administration as they could justify funding their activities as security force rather than being involved in dirty tricks.
No, his staff was at pains to isolate him from any direct involvement in any of the plumbers' activities. He was eventually brought down because he engineered a cover up over the scandal, obstructing justice. The irony was that this was all hugely unnecessary, Nixon sweeping to power with a huge majority despite the emerging revelations over the Watergate break in.
Because the team weren't intending to steal anything, only to gather intelligence and plant listening devices. For it to be burglary there must be trespass combined with theft.
