Doug Liman saw some success this year with his Road House remake despite dealing with the recent public revelation that he and Jake Gyllenhaal haven’t made their share off of Amazon’s decision to release the movie through streaming. Still, the film’s success has gotten both Gyllenhaal and Liman the greenlight to develop a sequel. Liman, however, has also been continuously inquired by fans if he would ever get around to making a sequel to the Tom Cruise/Emily Blunt Groundhog Day-esque, sci-fi war film Edge of Tomorrow, which is also sometimes referred to as Live, Die, Repeat.
As Liman promotes his new film, The Instigators, he sat down with The Hollywood Reporter, where he addressed that he is constantly coming up with ideas for Edge of Tomorrow 2, which may sport the title Live, Die, Repeat and Repeat. Liman stated, “No one has given up on it.

Director Doug Liman‘s time loop / alien invasion sci-fi adventure Edge of Tomorrow (watch it Here) did not set the box office on fire – in fact, compared to another notable under-performer starring Tom Cruise, it made less money than 2017’s The Mummy, on a higher budget. But that hasn’t stopped talk of a sequel from popping up every now and then over the ten years since the film’s release. Liman has let it be known that he has been working on a script, and Cruise’s co-star Emily Blunt has even previously said that she has read the “really promising and really, really cool” script. That was a few years ago… and in a new interview with Blunt, she has said she still thinks an Edge of Tomorrow sequel could be good.

Who Shot Barney? Or should we say, who is going to shoot Barney? Chalk up another excellent Noir Rescue by The Film Noir Foundation, the UCLA Film & Television Archive and Flicker Alley: Joan Leslie is a Broadway star in a group of ‘difficult’ actors, writers, lovers and cheats, trying to prevent a ‘repeat’ cycle of deception and murder. Richard Basehart makes a strong film debut as her confidante, a conflicted poet. The story twists tweak the noir format with supernatural content, almost like the ironic fantasies of The Twilight Zone. The choice extras double our interest in this very different noir.

Here’s Kev with a video review of the only British film to make it into the London Scifi film festival this year, Repeat, which was shot between lockdowns last year on a micro-budget.
A zealous cognitive psychologist dedicates his life to university lecturing. While tinkering with one of his many experiments he stumbles across an unbelievable discovery-a way of communicating with the other side. His joy is short-lived, however, as his daughter is put into potentially grave danger and when all leads go cold, he takes matters into his own hands to find out the truth.
Directed by Grant Archer and Richard Miller (who also wrote the film), Repeat stars Charlotte Ritchie, Nina Wadia and Tom England. You can also check out our written review right here.

Repeat is one of those films that falls somewhere between science fiction and a tale of the supernatural if not one of outright horror. In this case using technology to speak to the dead. That’s been done before, but unlike Frequencies, or the more recent Dead Air, this isn’t just a radio with supernatural powers. It’s a device developed by cognitive psychologist Ryan (Tom England; Cosmos).
But despite this potential breakthrough his life is in shambles. His daughter Sam (Ellila-Jean Wood) has been missing for over a year. The effects of this have strained his marriage to Emily and his experiments have caused his reputation as a professor to suffer. The one bright spot in his life is the fact he hasn’t been able to contact her with his device,...

Charlotte Ritchie has been in the industry for quite some time now, starting as a youngster on the overwhelming set of Harry Potter, all the way to sitcom Fresh Meat and popular series Ghosts. She can now be seen in the creative, and clever sci-fi flick Repeat, and to mark the film’s digital release, we had the pleasure of speaking to the actress on Zoom.
Ritchie talks about her character and connecting on a human level to a role encased in a hypothetical, surreal narrative. She talks about her research, and whether she herself believes in the supernatural. We also look back on the beginnings of her career on Potter, and the fun she has on Taskmaster. She talks about the Christmas return for Ghosts, whether she watches her work with her family – and on the brilliance on Succession – penned, of course, but Fresh Meats scribe Jesse Armstrong.

Telling a human story in Repeat
Recently screened at Sci-Fi London and now getting a digital release in the UK, Repeat is a great example of how a high concept film can be made on a small budget, and of how focusing on science doesn’t have to mean failing to focus on human stories. It stars Tom England and Charlotte Ritchie as a couple whose daughter (played by Ellila-Jean Wood) has gone missing. Whilst the girl’s mother deals with her grief in a very practical, down-to-earth way, psychologist Tom become obsessed with developing a machine which, he believes, could enable him to contact the spirits of people who have died – but how well does he understand his own work, and can anything prepare him for what will happen if his search is successful?
The film was developed by the creative team of Richard Miller (writer and director) and Grant Archer (cinematographer). They already.

"I guess you've spoken to someone you've lost...?" Gravitas has unveiled an official trailer for an indie sci-fi horror film titled Repeat, from filmmakers Grant Archer & Richard Miller. It explores questions that have always plagued mankind: Where do our souls go after we are dead? Does consciousness "vanish" with our dead bodies? Can we connect to people in the afterlife? A zealous cognitive psychologist stumbles across an unbelievable discovery – a way of communicating with the other side. His joy is short-lived, however, as his daughter is put in grave danger. He invents some kind of machine that enables people to connect with and talk to dead relatives. But, of course, something always goes wrong. Tom England stars with Charlotte Ritchie, Nina Wadia, Ellila-Jean Wood, Georgia Conlan, and Joshua Ford. The design of the new device looks cool, just not sure it's practical - how does a big ring light help us talk with the dead?...

Despite enduring a turbulent production and failing to deliver the box office numbers that were expected, Edge of Tomorrow is still one of the best and most severely underrated sci-fi movies of the last decade. A haul of $370 million is far from a disaster, but when the budget came in at a reported $178 million and Warner Bros. spent a further $100 million on the marketing campaign, the time-traveling action epic’s profit margins were razor thin.
It didn’t help matters that the studio couldn’t even settle on a title, with the pic flitting between Edge of Tomorrow, Live Die Repeat and the combined Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow depending on where and how it was being screened. The script went through multiple drafts, too, with star Tom Cruise recruiting his regular collaborator Christopher McQuarrie to steady the ship after shooting kicked off with rewrites happening on an almost daily basis.

Exclusive: CBS is developing Repeat, a drama series executive produced by Masi Oka and Sabrina Wind, from ABC Studios.
Written and executive produced by David Zabel Repeat is based on the award-winning book of the same name by Kurumi Inui and the 2018 TV series, which aired on Yomiuri Television in Japan.
The project was originally set up by Oka and Wind at CBS last year with a different writer, David Hayter. It did not go to pilot but CBS remained high on the concept and put it in redevelopment. Zabel came on board to pen a new take on the underlying material.
In Repeat, after a group of strangers is mysteriously propelled back 10 months in time, giving them the chance to right wrongs, undo mistakes, and set their lives on a better path, these “repeaters” soon find that changing their fate is a tricky endeavor with unforeseen and even deadly consequences.

The Promised Neverland, a story about a twisted orphanage, has built quite a following in a short period of time—first as a Vertigo manga series, then as an acclaimed anime series. Now, the Japanese franchise is getting a live-action television series with retail/streaming giant Amazon.
An English-language live-action television event series adapting The Promised Neverland is in development at Amazon Studios, which will produce with Fox 21. Promisingly, the studios have appointed Rodney Rothman to direct and executive-produce the series, coming off a successful Oscar-winning outing as co-director/co-writer of animated hit Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The script will be written by Meghan Malloy, who will also exec-produce, having worked with Rothman as a production consultant on Spider-Verse. Also onboard as executive producers are Heroes and Hawaii Five-0 actor Masi Oka, and Vertigo’s Roy Lee and Miri Yoon.
