The character "Enyx" is named after The Enix Corporation (now Square Enix), publishers of such video games as Dragon Warrior and Xevious.
A tie-in prequel comic entitled "Sweatshop: Hide 'N Shriek" reveals the fate of Ghost (Joe Lynch) and sets up the events of the film.
The concept for The Beast was inspired by Italian gymnast Yuri Chechi's performance during the opening ceremonies of the 2006 Winter Olympics, in which the masked performer repeatedly swung an oversized foundry hammer.
