Matthew Phelps and Lauren Hugelmaier were married in a picturesque ceremony last November in North Carolina. Less than a year later, Lauren was fatally stabbed in the couple’s home and Phelps was charged with her murder.
The death and subsequent arrest came as a shock to those who knew the Star Wars-loving duo, and the pair’s social media accounts portray them as a loving couple.
“Our day was the most special day of my life!” Hugelmaier wrote alongside a wedding photo shared on Instagram just days after the ceremony. “The excitement was like Christmas morning times like...

From Kanye West‘s pop-up Tlop stores and Kim Kardashian‘s “Savage”-branded Kimoji bras and briefs to Justin Bieber‘s high-end Purpose tour offerings available at Barney’s, 2016 was undeniably the year of celebrity merchandise. Go Home Raccoon, you're Too Drunk! Our day would not have been complete if we hadn't stumbled upon this video of a very inebriated raccoon stumbling around a liquor warehouse after breaking in and getting wasted on some drinks. The hilarious video shows the cute and cuddly creature trying to walk straight but failing miserably, just like we've all done after too many shots. The four-legged friend very much resembles a drunk human being trying to catch his bearings while intoxicated. "Yo, this raccoon is drunk!" one man says in the background of the video. "Oh shoot, the raccoon is drunk!" Another person supportively chimes in, "Do you, player!" "Yo,...

One could argue the significance of the events that take place in The Empire Strikes Back. It’s widely considered the finest Star Wars film made to date but an argument could be made as to whether anything actually happens in the film. Yes, there is one major revelation that goes without saying, but isn’t the film merely just a stepping-stone to the next chapter? The film essentially is one long Saturday morning serial entry that practically ends with a voice-over announcing, “stay tuned next week Jedi; same Star time… same Star channel.” That feeling of seeing only the first part in a larger story can be said for the recent entry in the Apes reboot series. Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes leaves a lasting impression based on the impressive special effects, rich visual landscapes, and moving character interactions (kind of like the other entry in the...

Our Day Will Come, from music video director Romain Gavras (‘No Church in the Wild’), is a strange road trip movie about two very messed-up guys, played by Vincent Cassel and Olivier Barthélémy, each with his own problems and a total inability to connect to pretty much anything. The French have a slur (“les roux ça puent”) that at its most basic says “redheads stink.” Some translations go so far as to say it means they stink like stinky vaginas. That’s a bit extreme (and strange), but whether due to Judas Iscariot, witches, or just a simple fear of the unusual, it’s an unfortunate fact that red-headed children are sometimes viewed as lesser versions of their “normal”-haired counterparts. Rémy (Olivier Barthelemy) is a young man who knows this truth all too well as he’s been the brunt of abuses both verbal and physical born in large part to his dark, red hair. His rage leads to a physical assault against his own mother that sends him fleeing into the night and into the passing car of a bored psychoanalyst named Patrick (Vincent Cassel). The good doctor has come to grips with his own auburn hair, but...

It remains to be seen whether he will be loved our hated by audiences at large - and both seem equally likely - yet there is no doubt at all that Our Day Will Come announces the arrival of Romain Gavras as a significant new talent in world cinema. Though working with a very different style, Gavras embraces the same sort of fuck you abrasiveness that has made Lars Von Trier such a polarizing presence on the world scene and we should expect nothing less from Gavras. A cynical outsider epic, Our Day Will Come is the story of Remy and Patrick, a pair of misfits joined together by their dislike of society and their red hair. Our Day Will Come starts out exactly like a comic-style evangelical tract from Chick Publications: A troubled kid is seduced into darkness by a sophisticated, Mephistophelian figure who signals his depravity by wearing an ascot. Rémy (Olivier Barthelemy), a sexually confused teenager bullied by classmates for the genetic disadvantage of red hair, meets Patrick (Vincent Cassel), a middle-aged, redheaded psychopath with a similar sense of pigmentation-based aggrievement. As a result, Patrick displays every documented antisocial tendency: He's racist, misogynistic, anti-Semitic, and homophobic. He tempts truant kids with the forbidden fruits society reserves for responsible adults: ripping donuts in a parking lot behind the wheel of a sweet Porsche and riding motorcy...

What does a ballet dancer wear when she’s not en pointe? We looked to ABC Family’s Bunheads for a tip-off. This week, Vegas showgirl-turned-teacher Michelle (Sutton Foster) gave her arches a rest in a pair of subtle nude Canvas Classics from Toms ($44). It’s not the first time the brand has popped up on the show. Michelle also slipped into a pair of stand-out red Canvas Classics during a previous episode.
So, what’s with all the Toms love? “They’re just very comfortable,” says Bunheads costume designer Brenda Maben. And anyway, she adds, “They’re cute.”

Kathy Burke has said that she worries about the roles young actresses are given. The actress-turned-writer contrasted the parts female stars are often given with her own four-part Sky Atlantic series Walking and Talking. "I was so lucky because Sky just left me alone," Burke told What's On TV. "I didn't have to follow any rules so it felt like writing a play. I wanted to write something that reminded me of shows I used to watch in the '70s like Our Day Out and Blue Remembered Hills. "They were great fun, but (more)...

"Game of Thrones" fanatics have been going gaga over a cover of the show's theme song posted by "The Harp Twins" on YouTube last week. The video is one of many posted by the Chicago-based duo, identical twin blondes named Camille and Kennerly Kitt who have been adapting popular songs for their preferred instrument for years.
Their music has been featured in movie soundtracks, at big-ticket political events and commercials internationally -- plus the duo dabbles in acting on the side. We caught up with The Harp Twins themselves to find out what led them down this unique career path.
The Huffington Post: How did you end up as the "Harp Twins?" What's your musical background like?
Camille Kitt: We started playing the piano when we were children and began playing harp in junior high.
Kennerly Kitt: Most people assume we have been playing harp a lot longer,...

Smash‘s inaugural season may have had more irregularities than a dollar-store t-shirt, but at least its season finale gave us a little bit of suspense, some interesting inside-theater intrigue, and plenty of soap-opera shenanigans.
Things kicked off with the show’s most dynamic duo — Tom and Julia — finishing a new closing number with only 15 minutes till curtain. And then we got a Marilyn’s eye view of the backstage insanity, with everyone wishing good luck to the last-minute replacement for movie star Rebecca Duvall. But would it be Ivy Lynn, who originated the role in workshop, or understudy Karen,...

The existence of God, the seat-filling power of a Hollywood star on Broadway, and even the health benefits of a kale and flaxseed smoothie (insert a churn of the tum-tum here) were up for debate on this week’s episode of Smash. Yep, Rebecca Duvall (Uma Thurman) — she of Sack Lunch Casual Friday 2 — dove right into rehearsals for Bombshell, and kept getting “inspired” with “ideas” she wanted to share in “pow-wows” with Derek, Eileen, Tom, and Julia. Too bad she didn’t have actual vocal ability to go with all that inspiration!

This week the episode does two things – it develops some characters (Tom, Karen/Dev, maybe Karen/Ivy and definitely Eileen) and moves the musical along!
At rehearsal, Karen “really bumped it up a notch,” she’s even wearing lip gloss! All for Rebecca Duvall. Sam asks Tom if she’s “a little old” to be playing Marilyn – since Rebecca is “36-ish.” And apparently Tom and Sam have been flirting for a week and Julia’s tired of it, so...

The misty landscapes of suburban England are unassuming, monotone and bleak; the perfect environment to shroud a fantastical, alien planet and its otherworldly inhabitants. Set up off the beaten path outside the sprawling metropolis of London is the set of John Carter an epic sci-fi venture from Andrew Stanton, one of the main creative forces behind Pixar and the Academy Award-winning director of Finding Nemo and Wall-e, the producers of Avatar and Disney, a studio familiar with blockbuster filmmaking (see Tron Legacy and The Avengers).
Based on the novel Princess of Mars by pulp fiction god Edgar Rice Burroughs, John Carter transplants its titular hero, a Civil War veteran, to the red planet of Barsoom, better known to earthlings as Mars. There, Carter becomes embroiled in the political affairs of Barsoom's warring alien races: the Tharks, the local 8-foot, multi-armed, green beings; the Red Beings of Helium, who are mighty...

Producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi have come together to create “Lioness: Hidden Treasures,” a posthumous set of songs recorded by Amy Winehouse throughout her career. “Our Day Will Come” was recorded during the “Frank” period, but intentionally left off the album, according to Remi. All the proceeds from the album will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, a charity set up in the singer’s memory to “bring healthier and happier lives to young people.”

Amy Winehouse's highly anticipated posthumous album was released on Friday and, as expected, fans' feelings towards it have been mixed.
The album was put together by two of Winehouse's favourite producers, her friend Mark Ronson - who famously collaborated with the singer on Zutons' cover Valerie - and Salaam Remi who worked with her on her debut LP Frank.
Critics have claimed the record, which features 12 tracks made up of unreleased material, covers and alternative versions of previously released tracks, should never have been released - their argument being that, had they been Winehouse's finest songs, they would have made the cut while she was alive.
Ronson also admitted he initially said no to making a legacy album - because he was still mourning her death.
However, Winehouse's family, particularly her father Mitch, said they would not have released the album unless they thought it reached the standard of her previous records.

Lioness: Hidden Treasures is the first (possibly of many) posthumous albums and compilations from Amy Winehouse. Mark Ronson, Salaam Remi and Amy’s family compiled this collection of songs and proceeds from the album go to the foundation set up in the wake of her passing; The Amy Winehouse Foundation. It has been clearly stated by her label that this is not the follow up to her certified platinum 2006 album Back to Black but more a collection of songs ranging from before her debut, Frank in 2002 up to her tragic passing earlier this year. The album features covers, demos and duets that showcase her talents and versatility.
The first song on the album, ‘Our Day Will Come’ is a lovely reggae revival styled love song produced by Salaam Remi and written by Bob Hilliard and Mort Garson. The song features a soft reggae beat with a...

The forces behind the posthumous Dec. 6 Amy Winehouse album Lioness: Hidden Treasures have put together an official video for the album's reggae-inspired track "Our Day Will Come," using photo and video footage of the old-souled singer. Winehouse covered the 60s doo-wop song in 2002, but it stayed hidden to the public until earlier this month. The sight of her smiling and taking the stage is eerie to say the least. Throw that voice into the background, and it's downright haunting.

The world got its first taste of Amy Winehouse's upcoming posthumous album, Lioness: Hidden Treasures, when the late singer's duet with rapper pal Nas premiered on New York's Hot 97 on Wednesday.
The tune from the album, due December 6, is called "Like Smoke," and it was recorded in May 2008 and produced by Amy's longtime collaborator Salaam Remi. It features Winehouse singing in her signature slurry blues drawl over a classic Motown downbeat as Mr. Jones serves up some of his knotty verses.
In fact, while Winehouse sings the five-line hook on the tune, it is Nas who does the heavy lifting, courtesy of two dense verses packed with references to his personal travails, from love and marriage to taxes, the recession and, way before it was a thing, a...
