I was expecting this movie to be a comedy only. You know, just for laughs. We watched it all together with parents. Everyone of us loved it. It's those moments when you cry and laugh. I'm not in my home country and it touched me. Nagieev my favourite. And yeah, Mikhalkova is she really an actress ? :)

This film is amusing at times, but there's not much substance to it overall. Some of the jokes are funny, but the overall plot seems forced and rushed at the end. I like the idea of showing Russian in the US, but I had a hard time ignoring the fact that the main "American" woman in the movie who only spoke English was clearly Russian. I don't know why they couldn't find a native English speaker.

This movie will likely be completely misunderstood by shallow minder Americans...
But i think that most people who are immigrants in US will get it... it doesnt matter where you are from or why you came to US... If US is NOT YOUR COUNTRY OF BIRTH, it will NEVER BE A TRUE HOME... so, this is a movie that touches upon this reality that many if not all immigrants live with/// this nostalgic feeling about the super simple, but very dear things they miss about their country of birth... like in this movie, *Summers at Grandmas home on the Black Sea coast...*

Thank you guys for the movie, couldn't stop crying while I was watching it. The movie is just at the point when we leave here for so many years but we are still not Americans. we can not go back home because nobody's waiting for us over there, and as for me, there is nobody to turn to.
Very bad acting, laughing out again american culture, as russian movies most often do. Nageev was playing the same character as usual, boring and nothing new. Only thanks to Stoyanov, Mikhalkova and Tokhatyan this movie was bearable to watch. It "smells" being sponsored by the government in frame of their activities of returning specialists home from abroad. Why do i have to pay for a sponsored movie like that? I wonder what makes a few good actors in this to agree to play in such a movie. I never wrote a review of a movie, never felt the need, but this one desires an honest feedback and a warning before you watch. We watched it abroad(not US), and out of around 25 people in our group only one person liked it, the woman who is missing home. The little "propoganda" worked for 1 out 25.
Not much to add really. It's like someone in the Russian government was told to make a movie to scare Russians from immigrating to the US, but that someone is stuck in the idealistic nostalgia for the old USSR. The movie is full of every stereotype of American that you see on Russia's Channel One.
I literally created this account just to tell you all this: This may be the worst movie ever. Terrible, terrible acting, ridiculous plots and stereotypes, completely anti-American themes (I am neither American nor Russian but I live in Moscow) and the whole thing is just a painful nosedive into the depths of terrible movies (but with none of the 'so bad it's good' charm that saves other terrible movies)

Boring movie, about "russian soul" yearn for Russia.
No any true stories, only idealistic script.
Characters are good chooses , but this melody "We the homeland begins "through movie is hidden message - come to russia. Also content some anti American jokes, same time as russia are idealistic paradise. Only question is why these people are abroad, not in Russia not given any hints.
Movie financing come probably from russian authorities. Right name of movie maybe "posol to Russia."
