As a film released in 2020, I expected that Filipino horror film creators to take note of the multiple criticisms Philippine horror has accrued over the previous decade. However sadly, this film let me down. On top of the overuse of jump scares, I also noticed that the plot heavily relies on the main character's stupidity and lack of common sense. Because of this, instead of empathizing with the character, I am led to questioning their judgment, and laughing at their choice of actions (Not a good sign of an immersive experience). Hope that this is not the best that Philippine Horror has to offer.

Bad acting, script, camera flow, not even a single cinematography. looks amateur.
they just used kim chiu for the highlight of the film.
This movie is a total disaster.
dont waste your time watching this.
just an ordinary filipino typical movie.
The jump scares were too obvious. Horrible acting and storyline. The reactions were too forced. Had to finish the movie to give it a chance of redemption, and now I want my time back.

Plot of stories is very shallow. I think the writer doesn't know how to think what justice and revenge. A horror film so nursery.

So annoying, it doesn't even have that "it's so bad that it's fun" appeal. Total trash! I don't understand what draw Kim Chiu and Tony Labrusca could have on Filipinos.

This movie keeps you on the edge of your seat for the entirety of it. It has you paying attention to a bunch of different things at once. Which is what you want from a movie of this caliber.
It has a GREAT script, GREAT directing and of course the actors were AMAZING. There was not one bad actor in the entire movie.
If you want a movie that will get you involved and keep you guessing to the very end, as well as giving you a quality scare factor with AMAZING special effects. Then look no further. You will thoroughly enjoy this GREAT movie.
Do yourself a favour and watch this movie, you won't be disappointed.
I am a very hard person to impress and I was EXTREMELY IMPRESSED.

Apparently this is a remake of a Kannada movie. So I was skimming through the original kannada movie to find anything that was better, but I'm thoroughly impressed by the filipino remake in that there are almost no resemblance to each film. It's a inspiration for sure which the Filipino movie actually says so.
The movie itself I found it engaging for the most part if you watch it as a movie and not become too logical. The 3rd Act could've been better. Slight pacing issues in parts otherwise a one time watch for curious cats like me who like to explore world cinema. My first Filipino film done! ✅

I had a feeling that the movie is going to be a letdown in the first 10 minutes. My wife insisted we finish it and she regretted it.
If you are looking for a sign to watch this movie or not, this is it.

The very reason why i registered here in IMDB was because of this garbage they call a film. Why was my review deleted?! I forgot what i previously wrote but i am rewriting a new review because i want to help other people not waste their time consuming garbage.
Anyway, if you're looking for a reason to possibly watch this movie. You won't find it here. The start had premise but they botched the delivery and execution. Don't waste your time watching this. The 10/10 review is an abomination and should be deleted lol. If you're looking to watch a better tagalog horror flick, go watch feng sui instead.

U-Turn (2020): A treacherous stretch of road but people don't just die on the road itself. Those who make u-turns at the spot are followed home by spirits and killed, police classify the deaths as suicide. A journalist investigates these demises and her actions attracts the attention of the angry ghosts. A Philippines remake of a 2018 Indian film. Some good scary scenes with a little girl appearing, first giggling, then blood stained and crying. Her mother is much more fearsome, a wraith, sometimes just her arm;hand appearing. These angry ghosts can force their victims to harm themselves and others. Not great but worth watching. Directed by Roderick Cabrido, written by Cenon Palomares. On Netflix 6/10.
When I stumbled upon this 2020 Filipino horror movie on Netflix, I had never heard about it, and given my fascination with both horror movies and Asian cinema, then of course I opted to give director Roderick Cabrido's movie a fair chance.
While I did manage to sit through the 98 minutes that the movie ran for, I have to say that I was only mildly entertained by the narrative. Writer Cenon Palomares didn't exactly deliver a particularly riveting narrative or script for director Roderick Cabrido to bring to the screen. It was, in fact, a rather boring story that actually made very little sense.
And even the character gallery in the movie was somewhat boring as well, and that didn't exactly help to lift up an otherwise stale and bland storyline and script.
The acting performances in the movie were fair enough. I wasn't familiar with the cast, aside from Martin Del Rosario.
For a scary movie then "U-Turn" wasn't particuarly effective, as there was nothing scary in it. That, or perhaps I am just jaded from about 40 years of watching horror movies.
I have to say that there simply is zero replay value to "U-Turn", provided you get through it the first time around, that is.
My rating of "U-Turn" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.

This Filipino film is centred on Donna, an investigative journalist wanting to report on more interesting stories. To this end she is willing to photograph accident victims, even moving bodies for a better shot. This particular incident took place on a stretch of closed road where somebody had moved warning barriers. Soon afterwards others who U-turn on this stretch of road start dying; the authorities believe them to be suicides but Donna's investigation leads her to believe they are connected to using that road. With the help of Kevin, a friend in the police, she aims to prove it. In the process she puts herself in danger.
When I watched this I had no idea that it was a remake of an Indian film and as I've not seen the original I can't say how they compare. I thought the story had some interesting ideas and these led to some enjoyably creepy scenes. The ghost effects are pretty good; done physically rather than obvious CGI... the scariness was unfortunately lost towards the end when one of the ghosts speaks to the person who inadvertently caused her death. The acting is solid enough; especially from Kim Chiu, who plays Donna. I liked the fact that the lead character wasn't the typical 'Miss Perfect', many of the things she did to get stories were certainly both immoral and illegal. Overall I wouldn't call this a must see but if you are looking for a horror film made somewhere different it is worth watching.
These comments are based on watching the film in Filipino with English subtitles.

Just seemed longer than its running time. Unlikeable lead actress. Stereotypical Asian horror ghosts who got more ridiculous looking as the film slowly progressed. Unbelievable coincidence at the end involving an address. Cris Villonco was highlight as the uptight boss Monique. So beautiful. All in all a good effort from the Phillippines but deadly dull.
