Harry says Max may be suffering from teraphobia or face blindness. Both are real disorders. Teraphobia is a fear of monsters, while face blindness (prosopagnosia) is a spatial processing disorder resulting in a spectrum of limitation of ability to recognize or recall familiar faces, and in many cases, even building, cars, etc.

Sam Neill and Russell Crowe are both New Zealanders not Australian as suggested in this story.
