After Michael Eisner made his pitch to online video advertisers at the AOL Digital Content NewFront in New York City, the newly promoted CEO of his multi-platform independent studio Vuguru took the stage. Larry Tanz addressed the audience of advertisers, brand representatives, and reporters before showing off a pair of online originals he noted would soon debut on On AOL, the internet portal’s shiny new video destination. One of those originals was Little Women Big Cars, a Vuguru original series directed by Melanie Mayron, created by Sherry Coben (Kate & Allie), and starring an ensemble cast headlined by Amy Yasbeck (Wings, Hot in Cleveland), Kristy Swanson (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Psych), Romy Rosemont (Glee), Julie Warner (Crash, Nip/Tuck), Ed Begley Jr. (Portlandia, The New Adventures of Old Christine) and Antonio Sabato Jr. (Melrose Place, The Bold and the Beautiful). It’s about four moms navigating the comedy, drama, and associated gossip of PTA meetings,...

The first one-sheet for the remake of the Japanese terror tale Apartment 1303 is here, and it takes its cues from everything from A Nightmare on Elm Street to The Frighteners. Dig it!
Mischa Barton (Homecoming, Walled In, The Sixth Sense), Rebecca De Mornay (Mother's Day, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle), John Diehl (Stargate, Jurassic Park III), Julianne Michelle (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), and Robert Blanche ("Crash," "Ghost Whisperer") have all been cast.
Dig on the synopsis for the original Japanese film below, and look for more soon!
Apartment 1303 is white, bright and airy with a sheer white curtain blowing from the wind off the balcony and is on the 13th floor of a large building. The view onto the sea is breathtaking, but the history of the apartment is shocking. A number of young women have committed suicide by jumping off the balcony, and it is now about to happen again!

Bloody Disgusting just scored a pretty awesome sales one sheet for Daniel Fridell's 3-D remake of Apartment 1303 3D, which will star Mischa Barton (Homecoming, Walled In, The Sixth Sense), Rebecca De Mornay (Mother's Day, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle), John Diehl (Stargate, Jurassic Park III), Julianne Michelle (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), and Robert Blanche ("Crash," "Ghost Whisperer"). The poster, featuring a wall coming to life, looks inspired by the infamous sequence in A Nightmare on Elm Street. Penned by Kei Ohishi and Michele Taverna, the redo of the 2007 Japanese flick is a modern ghost story which turns a love/hate relationship between mother and daughter into a tale of horror. Some rentals are too good to be true.

Moran Atias and Jayne Atkinson have signed up for guest roles in the upcoming third season of White Collar. TV Line reports that Atias will play Christie, the cardiologist girlfriend of Diana Barrigan (Marsha Thomason). Christie will first appear in the season's third episode, when she is recruited to assist with the FBI's latest investigation. The previously-unseen character has been referred to in past episodes and is expected to recur in the future. Atias previously played Inez in Starz series Crash (more)...

Diana’s ol’ ball and chain on White Collar is about to put in an appearance, and sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that she’s quite the looker.
Israeli beauty Moran Atias (from Starz’s Crash) has landed the potentially recurring role of Marsha Thomason’s oft-referred-to-but-never-seen onscreen sweetheart, Christie, on the USA Network hit.
White Collar Leads Matt Bomer and Tim DeKay Score Pay Hikes
The character — who turns up in the third episode of the show’s upcoming third season — is described as a cardiologist who brings out Diana’s lighter side with her sweet smile and scalpel-edged wit.

Science-fiction fans, Warner Home Video is debuting two movies on high-definition Blu-ray for you on July 26: 2000 film Red Planet and 1998’s Soldier.
Soldier
Both have decent casts, but our favorite of the two is Soldier. The futuristic R-rated movie stars Kurt Russell (Grindhouse: Death Proof) as a soldier trained since he was a child to be a killer. When he’s left for dead by genetically engineered replacements (including Jason Scott Lee, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story), Russell is taken in by a peaceful community and becomes their last hope when the same soldiers come back with orders to destroy. Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) and Connie Nielsen (A Shine of Rainbows) also star.
The simple story shows that a soldier’s heart is never changed, no matter how much brain-washing, and the movie, directed by Paul W.S. Anderson (Avp: Alien vs. Predator) features a nice score by Joel NcNeely.

I'm really excited for this new series Torchwood: Miracle Day series. I just hope it turns out to be as good as the origianl BBC series.
John Barrowman will return as Captain Jack Harkness and Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper, along with new cast members. The series will take on a more international scope. The new story will shift from the U.K. to North America.
BBC Worldwide Prods. executive vp Jane Tranter had this to say previously,
This gives 'Torchwood' the chance to feel like a real global drama, The story of 'Torchwood' will impact worldwide humanity and not just a small area of the U.K. This will scale it up.
The creator of the series Russell T. Davies added,
It's not a new version, it's not a reboot. It's not going to be 'Lost' and take 20 years to find out what's going on.

As SciFi Mafia reported to you back in December, The Walking Dead showrunner, Frank Darabont, considered shifting gears with how the show is written and use freelance writers for the next season. The latest news is that the hit AMC show adapted from Robert Kirkman’s graphic novel series will return to “a traditional writing staff model with a staff comparable or a little bigger in size to Season One whose order was for six episodes versus thirteen for Season Two.”
Glen Mazzara (The Shield, Crash) has just closed a deal to be the show’s writing executive producer and No. 2 to Darabont for The Walking Dead’s second season. Mazzara has already tousled with zombies in the first season, having written the fifth episode, “Wildfire.” He replaces Charles Eglee who left to pursue a television adaptation with Sony TV of the Brian Michael Bendis / Michael Avon Oeming-penned series Powers.

Glen Mazzara (The Shield, Crash) has joined AMC’s The Walking Dead as executive producer while a team of five new writers have also come on board, squashing rumors of a freelance written second season. Mazzara penned the episode ‘Wildfire’ for The Walking Dead’s first season as a freelancer so he’s very familiar with the groundbreaking new series about surviving a zombie apocalypse. Mazzara will be replacing Charlies ‘Chic’ Eglee as the second in charge to showrunner Frank Darabont. Eglee left The Walking Dead after finding out that Darabont wanted to become more deeply involved and didn’t want to find himself in a supporting creative role. Robert Kirkman, who created the comic book in which the AMC adapted show is based, will remain as an executive producer himself and plans to write...

Just three months ago, it was reported that the writing staff of AMC's breakaway hit The Walking Dead were let go en masse. At that time it seemed that executive producer / creator Frank Darabont was considering a freelance-writer-model for new episodes, much like the one favored by Doctor Who. Today, Deadline reports that Glen Mazzara has agreed to join the staff of The Walking Dead as a writing executive producer, second to the series creator Darabont.
Mazzara's work will be familiar to fans of the show, as writer of the episode 'Wildfire', one of the best episodes of Season 1. He was also a writer and producer of three highly-regarded serial dramas: Crash, Hawthorne, and The Shield.
It would have been interesting to see how the freelance-writer experiment worked (having Kirkman's comic book as a loose template would have made that easier). But fans of the show should be pretty relieved,...

Apparently Daniel Fridell's 3-D remake of Apartment 1303 is already casting up. The lastest in casting news for the upcoming fourth season of the BBC/Starz’s Torchwood is the addition of Mekhi Phifer (ER, Close Quarters, Lie To Me). Phifer scored the role of Rex Matheson that up-and-coming actor Enver Gjokaj (Dollhouse, Stone) and CW alum Chad Michael Murray (Lies In Plain Sight, One Tree Hill) had also been vying for.

Mekhi Phifer is set to star opposite John Barrowman and Eve Myles in the upcoming fourth season of sci-fi drama Torchwood, the semi-rebooted but continuation of the British, Doctor Who spin-off that spent 3 seasons on the various BBC channels and re-broadcast in the states on BBC America. Torchwood: The New World, a new fourth season in series continuity, takes the show international, figuratively and literally. The Torchwood team will now battle alien baddies and mysteries abroad and not just in British Isles like the previous seasons. This series will also be broadcast on both, Starz and the BBC and was co-financed by the two networks. According to Russell T. Davies, series creator, it’s very much the next step. It’s not a new version, it’s not a reboot. They’re simply moving countries but the show is designed to welcome in a new audience that has never seen any Torchwood series previously.

It will officially be Season 4 of the BBC sci-fi/action-adventure show “Torchwood”, but for most American audiences, it’ll probably be their introduction to the show, which began life as a “Doctor Who” spin-off. Now word has Mekhi Phifer, late of Fox’s “Lie to Me”, joining John Barrowman and Eve Myles on the show as the American face to bring “Torchwood” to an all-new American audience. On the show, Phifer will play Rex Matheson, a CIA agent and “fast-tracked high-flyer with a lethal sense of humor who starts to feel his mortality when his life is put in danger.” Also joining the cast is Arlene Tur (“Crash”), who will have a recurring role. Pictured below, Tur will probably play Phifer’s partner on the show, but I could be wrong. “Torchwood” Season 4 will continue on the BBC, but will also be broadcast on the Starz cable network in the States.

Exclusive: Mekhi Phifer is set to star opposite John Barrowman and Eve Myles in the upcoming fourth season of sci-fi drama Torchwood, which Starz is co-producing with the BBC for a run on both networks. Phifer joins original Torchwood stars Barrowman, who plays time agent/con man Captain Jack Harkness, and Myles, who plays ex-police officer Gwen Cooper. The Lie to Me alum will play the third lead, Rex Matheson, a CIA agent, a fast-tracked high-flyer with a lethal sense of humor who starts to feel his mortality when his life is put in danger. In addition to his co-starring turn on Fox's Lie to Me last season, Phifer, repped by Wme and Brookside, was a regular on NBC's ER. It’s seems a world ago that the BBC and Starz Entertainment announced the title of the long awaited fourth series of Doctor Who spinoff, Torchwood, but already pre-production seems to be getting well under way on the adult sci-fi show.
Torchwood: The New World is set to premiere sometime in 2011 – most likely the Summer – and the show promises to feature a more Americanised slant on the classic series. Along with the return of show regulars Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) and Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles) three new faces will be added to the team, C.I.A. agent Rex Matheson (a part rumoured to have recently been turned down by Lone Star actor, James Wolk), Agent Esther Katusi and the newest addition, surgeon Vera Juarez – who according to Deadline has recently been cast! According to recent reports from the site, Crash actress Arlene Tur will be joining the show as recurring character surgeon Juarez.

John Barrowman and Eve Myles already are on board "Torchwood" when it returns for a fourth season next year on BBC and American premium cable channel Starz, but now so is Arlene Tur. The Miami-born actress best known for her role as Bebe Arcel in the short-lived "Crash" series -- based on the Oscar-winning movie -- has joined "Torchwood" as, well, we don't quite know who she'll be playing. What we do know is that it's a recurring role, and it's not the one of the CIA agent that IGN's Eric Goldman says actress Amber Stevens has been in talks for. Tur has no genre credits to her name, but she most recently played Armenia in the film "Eat Pray Love." She guested in the Fox series "Lie To Me" last year, and appeared in an episode of "Grey's Anatomy" in 2006, according to Internet Movie ...

Harry Shum, Jr. has a huge spread for Yellow Magazine, a fashion and arts magazine for "young English-speaking and bilingual Asians in Houston." The full spread isn't online yet, but Gleehab has a preview. As long as we're on the subject of Glee, don't forget to tweet your reactions with the #kurtrules for our recap tomorrow. As to what you'll be tweeting about, here's Puck (Mark Salling) from tonight's episode explaining why he hasn't been in school recently.
Backstage at Glee, there are many spoilers about Gwyneth Paltrow's appearance in the Christmas episode, as well as Javier Bardeem's upcoming appearance. There are so many spoilers laced throughout the piece I'm afraid to say anything, except that with all these injuries, I hope they have a great health plan. And did you know they quit using the Long Beach school theater for performances and built a 500-seat replica?...

['The Closer' - 'Executive Order']
We've reached the mid-season finale of 'The Closer,' and if you had any question before tonight's show about the excellence of this past season, tonight's show delivered the answer: This episode was 'The Closer' at its best.
Two superb guest stars helped. Matthew Glave ('Crash') -- who's a dead ringer for Dominic West -- and Courtney B. Vance ('FlashForward'). In the case of Vance, his appearance may be the start of a recurring role because his character, Chief Tommy Delk of the Counter Terrorism Unit, turned out to be Brenda's competition for the new chief of police job.
While working a particularly tense and involved case with Delk, Brenda got to observe her competitor. Delk was more stealth-like than Brenda when it came to dealing with the Feds, and she couldn't help but admire his technique. That getting-more-with-honey approach is something she knows well.
