Thank you sir , really you get what people want to see. This man understands drama he really does. He's running 3 shows that are absolutely brilliant. Thank you brother you are helping me out a lot.
Didnt know Sheridan was responsible for Sicario and Hell or High Water till I read the reviews. I have no idea how realistic these gritty dark shows and movies are but I love them. I see reviews saying people don't talk using f-bombs all the time. Not sure where they work but I promise they exist. Really just wanted to write a review for the first time to say I've been using imdb ratings and reviews to judge whether or not I want to watch something forever. All these whining conservatives are really making me dread what I used to enjoy. A couple scenes about US history and people refuse to watch and give bad ratings? Dont know if what she said is exactly true. Don't really care. But how do these people think the country was built? What's wrong with saying yeah the country and powers that be do messed up stuff sometimes but I'm still glad I live here. This weird binary good or bad, this or that thinking is dumb and lazy. Stop tying your identity to your ideological beliefs maybe and you won't get so offended. Idk. Or just shut up. Just screaming my annoyance into the void pointlessly. Watch the show. It's bad ass.
Brutal, bleak, relentless, thrilling, brilliant TV. The grubby underside of the American Dream laid bare. Superbly acted and filmed without pity. I've knocked one star off for the extremely irritating Diane West character whose virtue signalling is utterly extraneous.
Renner is perfect in this roll. He is the brother of the Mayor. The mother plays a depressing, liberal history teacher who hates the world. Lots of good stuff, some nudity, some violence. A well balanced cops and robber drama. This one has legs.
Criminal dramas aren't something new. They are usually cheap to produce and are based on cliches. That's why majority of those are bad.
Mayor of Kindstown takes an interesting variation of a plot, and sticks to it, presenting a story that goes through the series, rather than a set of standalone episodes.
Pros: * good acting. Good for Jeremy Renner to switch from the weakest avenger to a strong hero himself.
* consistent story. Flawed characters stay true to themselves and consistent.
Cons: * some unnecessary dramatization. I find the role of hero's mother to be annoying and useless. Why would a prison fund lessons that provoke racial tensions among inmates?
* the concept "police ignores criminals for convenience" allows Deus Ex Machina to appear at any second, which is usually a cheap move. Season 1 avoided it, but I'm worried that the final developments in Season 2 would make it worse.
