Being first a Bulgarian and second - a woman, I was very intrigued about this movie for it was advertised to display the very important issues - the problems about the violence towards women in the modern Bulgarian society.
I am sorry for having to write this but this movie is a complete rubbish. A junk that in normal society is not supposed to exist at all. But it's there and yes it is not only Maria Bakalova who are giving a mediocre performance instead of what the previous reviewer said. All actors are so impossibly bad. The direction is not existing. The propaganda is in its fullest. The only reason this piece of sh&t has been done for is the grants they are receiving from the EU. Avoid like a plague.

Watched it on the big screen, high quality, nieche, production. Strong play by ALL actresses (not just Maria). Really puts you in the Bulgarian realm.

A story about family relationship... A real story that shows us that anyone can get into such a situation.
Reality....
The film stands out with excellent acting. Maria Bakalova showed once again why she deserved that Oscar nomination.

I've never seen a movie quite like this one before , let alone a Bulgarian one at that. As hard as it is to admit, women still do get mistreated, although it is a process.
This movie shows the rise for new opportunities, without sugar coating the problem, which some might not enjoy, but it is crucial to point out its importance. I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt some of the emotions the characters had. I suggest you all watch it before jumping into conclusions or starting off with a biased opinion.

Do not miss it. I watched it in Washigton DC - AFI's Best of European Cinema Showcase of 2022. The two directors wave your head. Bravura performanices and smashing female power.
"This by no means is the easiest watch but that shouldn't stop anyone from seeing this gut-wrenching but beautiful portrait of the trials and tribulations of womanhood. With a cast lead by Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm), Women Do Cry manages to pack so many topics without making the audience feel inundated or the film crowded. This film will stay with you forever." Emma Kiely's Top 10 Non-American Films of 2021.

I am so sad to say this but in Bulgaria and in many other places people hate each other and hurt each other. This film shows the verbal aggression and that is for me even more important and interesting. The actresses are so talented and unique. Bravi tutti!!!
