I enjoyed the film because I didn't know what to expect. I would still classify the film as a horror, as result of some very frightening scenes. I won't say when, that is apart of the surprise! I will let the audience find that out for themselves. The performances seemed very real to me and authentic. The story spoke for itself. The cinematography is breath taking! I like the scenery and the beautiful colours. There were some obvious attributes of the main character that told what she was, but it didn't seem very clear to me at the time, and I almost didn't really seem to even notice until later on in the plot. I don't understand why that happened? I loved how the director used the characters to draw you into the story line by not knowing what was going to happen next. I also like how the main character goes through a metamorphosis of change, but remains almost the same, but doesn't! How is that possible?
Poignant, smooth, elegant, subtle yet very powerfully manifested in its message of eternal love, existence, ignorance, fear and unconditional sacrifice. Stylish movie in classic perfection.
This film was wildly beautiful. Don't go into it looking for horror, but more so a "new age" vampire drama about love, life and loss.
This was definitely a slow burn and you're not going to come out of it with some intricate, wild story. This film is more about the art and the message behind it.
That little girl did and excellent job, casting directors should be jumping all over her after this. Everyone else did a good job as well, no one stuck out negatively (to an English speaker).
I would definitely recommend, once again, if you watch it for the beautiful shots, the great acting and the greater meaning of it and you will definitely enjoy.

Set in the war ravaged Basque countryside in the early 20th century, the story traces the journey of a young orphan girl (played by the beguiling Haizea Carneros) after she is miraculously saved from imminent death by a mysterious stranger with special powers.
Playing more like a drama with touches of dark fantasy than conventional 'horror', the film recalls Let the Right One In, Pan's Labyrinth and Black Bread.
A haunting and lyrical fairy tale, All the Moons eschews plot in favour of atmosphere and emotion.
The film manages to add a fresh new take to the over-saturated vampire sub-genre while delivering a truly moving cinematic experience.

I picked this as somewhat of a throwaway choice at the end of a long day on Shudder. Turned out being fantastic. The performance of the little girl was terrific and carried the film. Great cinematography and the score was superb. If you're up for a slower paced dark fairytale, this is it. Much more in line with a Pan's Labyrinth style film vs a conventional vampire horror flick. Don't sleep on it if that's more your vibe, totally worth the watch.
