HBO announced production’s gotten underway on Lanterns, based on the popular DC Comics property Green Lantern. Filming is taking place on the Warner Bros lot in Burbank.
“The series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland,” reads HBO’s synopsis. Aaron Pierre (Rebel Ridge) stars as John Stewart and Kyle Chandler (Godzilla vs. Kong) plays Hal Jordan.
The comic book-inspired series also stars Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, and Ulrich Thomsen. Chris Mundy serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer.
“From the start, our driving force has been to deliver a layered drama – rooted in nuanced storytelling and rich world building – that balances tension and mystery with honest, authentic emotion,” said Mundy.

Fallout 2 may be the one RPG that Rebel Wolves have paid more attention to than any other in their creation of The Blood of Dawnwalker, and this is both surprising (considering the new studio’s heavy former CD Projekt Red presence) and exciting. You’re probably wondering why that is, but when it was first revealed The Blood of Dawnwalker was touted as an open-world, narrative RPG inspired by ‘classic RPGs’, many of us wondered exactly how much heavy-lifting the word classic was doing, and now we have our answer.
The Blood of Dawnwalker Wants to Break Rules
In a brief interview with the folks over at Gamerant, The Blood of Dawnwalker‘s narrative director Jakub Szamalek was asked about the foundation of the game, and how they plan on balancing the narrative structure with an open-world formula, something notoriously difficult with games that offer exploration to the player:

The impressive recent box office performance of Mufasa: The Lion King sets Disney up for a live-action Lion King sequel in the near future. Directed by Academy Award-winning director Barry Jenkins, Mufasa: The Lion King not only follows the origin story of Mufasa, Simba's father, but also Scar, Mufasa's brother who ran astray. Aaron Pierre (Rebel Ridge) leads the cast of Mufasa: The Lion King alongside Kelvin Harrison Jr., Tiffany Boone, Mads Mikkelsen, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, and Thandiwe Newton.
While Mufasa: The Lion King didn't make nearly as much at the worldwide box office as its 2019 predecessor, it was still one of the highest-grossing blockbusters of 2024. 2019's The Lion King directed by Jon Favreau remains one of the highest-grossing movies of all time with its whopping $1.662 billion box office total. Math has never been my strong suit. However, a TV series about numbers that don’t add up and then lead to conspiracies, action, and surprises? Sign me up! Today, Apple TV+ is excited to share a trailer for Prime Target, an eight-episode series starring SAG Award winner Leo Woodall and Quintessa Swindell.
Premiering on Apple TV+ with a two-episode launch on January 22, Prime Target “features a brilliant young math postgraduate, Edward Brooks (played by Woodall), who is on the verge of a major breakthrough. If he succeeds in finding a pattern in prime numbers, he will hold the key to every computer in the world. Soon, he begins to realize an unseen enemy is trying to destroy his idea before it’s even born, which throws him into the orbit of Taylah Sanders, a female Nsa agent (played by Swindell) who’s been tasked with watching and reporting on mathematicians’ behaviour.

In the Prime Target trailer, Leo Woodall plays a Newton-ridiculing, mathlete determined to find a pattern in prime numbers. Cracking the code to prime numbers, figures only divisible by one and itself, means access to any computer across the globe. This also makes him the “prime target” for an unknown threat.
“What if numbers didn’t behave the way we assume,” Woodall says in the trailer, released Monday. “What if we’re not in control?”

During their Consumer Electronics Show (CES) presentation last night, Naughty Dog head Neil Druckmann officially announced that The Last of Us season two will debut this coming April, exclusively on HBO and streaming on Max.
The second season will consist of seven episodes, and while we don't have an exact premiere date just yet, we'd imagine the series returns sometime in mid-April, in the same release window Game of Thrones used to occupy during its run.
Season two will pick up five years after the events of season one, which concluded with Joel (Pedro Pascal) going on a rampage to rescue an unconcious Ellie (Belly Ramsey) from the Fireflies and then, in an effort to protect her, covering up the truth by telling her that making a cure was impossible and that raiders had raided the facility and forced them to flee.

It’s that time of year. You saw family for Thanksgiving and now you have to see them again for Christmas. You bought something for yourself on Cyber Monday, but still have to buy something for the people in your life, whether they deserve it or not. Money is going out the door. All you really want to do is walk down a snowy sidewalk, all relaxed and wearing a scarf like they do in Netflix or Hallmark rom-coms, but you’re too harried. No doubt about it, the lead up to the holidays is stressful.
Well, we’re here to help. This is a short, curated list of things that we like and find cool — and we think that you will, too. And if it gives you some ideas and makes your life easier, even better.

Warning! This post contains spoilers for Woman of the Hour.
After watching Woman of the Hour and its retelling of the Dating Game episode that featured Rodney Alcala, it is hard not to be curious about what happened to the two contestants who competed with Rodney Alcala on the show. Based on Rodney Alcala's true criminal history, Anna Kendrick's Woman of the Hour unfolds many different chapters from the serial killer's life. While primarily focusing on his strange appearance in The Dating Game, the movie also goes back and forth in time to walk through some of his most vicious murders.
Although every chapter in the movie's narrative is equally compelling, its portrayal of The Dating Game episode is particularly unsettling. Reacher season 3 could avoid repeating its predecessor's biggest mistakes if it learns one crucial lesson from Netflix's 96% Rotten Tomatoes action movie. Although a confirmed release date for Reacher season 3 has not been announced yet, the production for the upcoming season of the Amazon show is already underway. Considering its casting details and book choice for adaptation, Reacher season 3 is seemingly on the right path towards continuing the series' successful run.
As reports confirm, Reacher season 3 is adapting Lee Child's Persuader, which offers a compelling story that will likely translate well to the small screen. It is also marking the return of Maria Sten's Neagley, whose appearance in the season will likely pave the way for her confirmed spinoff series. Even the casting choices made for Reacher season 3, so far, seem perfectly in tandem with the original book's characters. However, even though Reacher season 3 has a lot going on in its favor,...

There's a new reason to watch Netflix's hit action thriller Rebel Ridge, aside from the film's critical praise. Rebel Ridge debuted to great reviews and a nearly perfect Rotten Tomatoes score of 95%. Led by Aaron Pierre's performance as former marine Terrence Richmond, the film follows his discovery of systemic corruption in a small town. Rebel Ridges cast, intense action scenes and compelling themes have elevated the Netflix action movie and led it to be compared to films like Walking Tall and First Blood.
While there's nothing particularly revolutionary about Rebel Ridge in terms of its plot, the movie ended up being one of the best recent action movies on Netflix because of how well it executed that story. The nuanced political thriller does a great job of exploring important themes such as racism and flawed laws. Rebel Ridge cleverly uses action sequences and the cast's performances to build tension and keep audiences enthralled.

It was the year 2011 when Ryan Reynolds starred in the infamous film Green Lantern. The film was a tremendous failure and the character of Green Lantern was thought to be cursed forever.

The thriller Rebel Ridge was announced back in 2019, but took five years to make its way out into the world because the production was delayed by the pandemic lockdowns, then by the departure of lead actor John Boyega a few weeks into filming, reportedly due to “family reasons.” Saulnier has said that the making of Rebel Ridge saw him “slamming right into the Hollywood I’ve tried to avoid,” and, “We came back three years in a row to make that movie.” But the troubles were worth it, because the finished film was well-received (you can read our 8/10 review Here) and a success on Netflix. Now, Saulnier is looking forward to his next movie – and he’s going back to his roots to tell a fun Halloween story.

It’s such a bittersweet experience to see some great stars returning to roles that made so many fall in love with them. The bitterness comes from the fact that the new installment could potentially be so inferior, or it could be extremely superior; either way, a new installment could ruin whatever came before. The sweetness comes from the nostalgia of seeing a favorite character(s) again, especially after several years. After what seemed to have been the end of the comedic action saga in “Bad Boys: For Life”, and with the knowledge of the risk of potentially ruining one of the biggest franchises of their careers, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence once again for an unbeatable police duo in 'Bad Boys'. Aaron Pierre's performance in Rebel Ridge makes it hard not to believe that he could perfectly embody a Clint Eastwood character in an upcoming remake of a highly acclaimed Western movie. In its initial moments, Rebel Ridge almost unfolds like a typical Western, where a mysterious stranger enters a town on his bike before having a run-in with the local law enforcers. Like a quintessential Western protagonist, he takes a calculative approach toward taking down the ones who wronged him before unleashing his fury.
Considering how Aaron Pierre gives an incredible performance in the Jeremy Saulnier movie, and he is one of the biggest reasons why the film is both a critical and commercial success, it would not be surprising if it paves the way for him to land bigger roles. While only time will tell where his career will take him, the Netflix action movie suggests he would...

Rebel Ridge director Jeremy Saulnier addresses Star Wars actor John Boyega's exit from the Netflix film. Marking his latest movie after 2018's Hold the Dark, Rebel Ridge stars Aaron Pierre as ex-Marine Terry Richmond, who finds himself in a showdown against corrupt, small-town cops as he attempts to post bail for his cousin. The film, which also stars Don Johnson, David Denman, AnnaSophia Robb, and Emory Cohen, had a rocky road during production due in part to the departure of Boyega, who was originally slated to play Terry, with "family reasons" being cited for the exit.
In a recent interview with Vulture, Saulnier is asked about Pierre's casting and how Rebel Ridge kept going after Boyega left the project. While the director doesn't go into detail regarding why exactly Boyega left and the speculation that it wasn't just due to family reasons, he does stress that it was...

It appears The Deliverance is picking up steam on Netflix, putting up 21.8M views from September 2 to 8, marking a significant increase from the week prior.
The film has taken a minute to break through with audiences since premiering on August 16, but after marching its way to third place in the last week of the month, it took the second place spot during this interval.
The top title of the week went to Rebel Ridge, which amassed 31.2M views. The thriller, which stars Aaron Pierre, dropped on Netflix on September 6, making this quite an impressive three-day debut. The film has the potential to put up an even bigger audience this week, as it’ll be its first full seven days of availability, which generally works in a title’s favor.
And, of course, The Perfect Couple also tallied its fair share of views on the TV side of things with 20.3M after launching on Thursday.

Throughout his series of 21st-century suspense pictures, director Jeremy Saulnier has figured out a number of ways to tighten the screws on his characters and his audience: forcing regular folks to face down horrific violence, stranding characters in the unnerving quiet of American backwoods, exploring and exposing the impractical messiness of revenge.

For Jeremy Saulnier, all’s well that ends well.
After releasing Hold the Dark in late 2018, Saulnier wasted no time putting together his follow-up Netflix film, Rebel Ridge, in late 2019. But then the pandemic had its way with his April 2020 production schedule, delaying the film’s principal photography until the following spring. However, the once-a-century pandemic turned out to be just the the first of several obstacles, as former lead actor John Boyega abruptly exited the thriller just a month into 2021’s production due to “family reasons.”
Rebel Ridge’s standstill was a frustrating setback for a filmmaker who’d been gaining more and more momentum since relaunching his directorial career with the critically acclaimed Blue Ruin at Cannes in 2013. His third feature film, Green Room (2015), received equal praise, putting Saulnier alongside Jeff Nichols in terms of the next great American filmmakers. Recently, Welcome To Plathville star and proclaimed “rebel,” Moriah Plath, has shocked viewers with a big move. After a very public display, everything is gone. Undeniably, Moriah has gotten some criticism for the storyline she is following this season. Without a doubt, her actions may be in direct response to how the public views her.
Fans Have Been Upfront About Not Liking Moriah Plath’s Story In Season 6
Lately, Welcome To Plathville viewers have complained that Season 6 isn’t scratching the itch they had hoped for. While there is plenty of drama shaking up the Plath’s world, some fans are growing bored with the storyline. In particular, many fans are bashing Moriah Plath’s focus in the latest season. Seemingly, it isn’t well received that she is pushing the theme of her music throughout the episodes. However, the season isn’t over and there still appears to be some excitement ahead.

“Shrink” was uploaded to YouTube with a lengthy statement explaining the track’s premise. “In the glittering world of luxury, where every item whispers of opulence and exclusivity, there lurks a shadowy side that few dare to speak of: the tragic fall of the flawless,” it reads in part.

Netflix's upcoming action film Rebel Ridge features an overpowered protagonist akin to Jack Reacher, waging war against corrupt local law enforcers. Rebel Ridge follows a familiar "mysterious stranger" trope, with the protagonist using military prowess to outsmart and defeat corrupt cops. With a framework similar to Reacher's successful book adaptations, Rebel Ridge could become a potential action franchise on Netflix.
A new action movie, which is set to be released on Netflix in September, seems like the perfect watch for viewers who are eagerly waiting for Reacher season 3. Unlike Prime Video's Reacher, which is based on Lee Child's Jack Reacher book series, this new film adopts an original storyline. However, its clear similarities with Reacher make it hard not to see it as a potential replacement for the Amazon show before the release of its next installment.

Filmmaker Zack Snyder made a name for himself with hit movies such as 300 and Man of Steel. Snyder’s most recent offering is the two-part space opera Rebel Moon, which was heavily inspired and originally started off as a pitch for a Star Wars movie, which never materialized and eventually landed at Netflix.
A director’s cut of Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon was released on Netflix.
Despite being critically panned, Rebel Moon did one thing right by cleverly avoiding a trope that has become seriously overused in Star Wars. In an interview, Snyder spoke about the trend that has been repeated over and over again, explaining his reasoning behind altering it. Here is what Snyder had to say about Star Wars‘ most nonsensical and overused trope.

Zack Snyder adapted a familiar Star Wars trope for Rebel Moon, creating his own universe and franchise. Snyder wanted to put a twist on the trope where heroes infiltrate enemy bases by dressing as the villains. Snyder initially pitched Rebel Moon as a Star Wars movie.
Rebel Moon director Zack Snyder explains how he adapted a familiar Star Wars trope in his new science-fiction films. Long before his collaboration with Netflix, Snyder originally pitched his ideas for Rebel Moon as a Star Wars film, although this did not come to fruition, with Snyder and Lucasfilm's visions not aligning well with each other. Snyder instead chose to create his own science-fiction universe and franchise, including R-rated director's cuts of the first two films.
While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter about the recently released director's cuts on Netflix, Snyder discusses a rebel infiltration scene and how he wanted to make it different from Star Wars.

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon franchise is getting a hefty second helping with the director’s cuts of both films making their way to Netflix. Not only are these cuts extended versions of the film but also feature a lot more violence and intimacy than the original versions of the film.

Among the many things that he revealed about the film, Snyder also talked about how his films show intimate and violent scenes, and how the lack of them in big-budget cinema might be not as desired as studios believe.

The director's cut of the Rebel Moon movies improves the Rotten Tomatoes scores, but still falls short of a Fresh designation. Each director's cut adds approximately an hour of footage to Snyder's R-rated vision for the franchise. The original movies had low scores of 22% and 17%, with director's cuts increased to 29% and 40%.
The Rebel Moon Chapter One: Chalice of Blood cut does improve Zack Snyder's much-maligned Netflix movies, but it still remains a negative for reviewers. The original Rebel Moon movies were released on Netflix on December 22, 2023 and April 19, 2024, while the director's cuts, Chalice of Blood and Curse of Forgiveness, were released on August 2. Each director's cut adds approximately an hour of footage and represents Snyder's R-rated vision for the franchise.
Unfortunately for Snyder, the Rotten Tomatoes reviews are not overwhelmingly positive. While the director's cut does see some positive change, it does not bring the franchise much acclaim.

Get ready to return to Veldt. Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Firemay have ended on a cliffhanger, but have no fear, rebels: Part Two is here to continue the saga.
In the sequel to Snyder’s space-bound epic, Kora (Sofia Boutella) and her revolutionary recruits face an enemy they thought they’d defeated: Admiral Atticus Noble (Ed Skrein) and the Imperium legion he commands from the bridge of his flagship dreadnought, the King’s Gaze. It will take all of their combined skills to free the villagers of Veldt from the grip of Motherworld — and to free themselves from their own tragic pasts.
The first Rebel Moon stands alone, but Snyder was glad to have the opportunity to use the two halves of the epic for very different purposes. “My hopes are that because we were able to do two films, that we’re able...
