Due to creative differences witn the director Mohit Suri, Aditya Roy Kapoor has reportedly opted out of the film
Rohit Shetty is credited in the opening credits of film as he had signed Mohit Suri for his productions to direct a film based on this story.The film was not connected to franchise of Ek Villain.Ekta Kapoor was looking for a script for her productions for sequel of Ek Villain and like this script and requested Rohit Shetty to give it to her.
Just like the first part lead female actress made her singing debut in this film as well. In first part it was Shraddha Kapoor making her singing debut with song "Galliyan" and in second part it was Tara Sutaria with songs "Shaamat" and "Galliyan Returns". Coincidently both these debuts were with the same male singer Ankit Tiwari.
The film features references to the year 2014.
Rakesh killing spree was in 2014, the year Ek Villain was released. The song sung by Qiran was Baby Doll which was also released in 2014. And lastly, the remark made by DSP Rathore while planning to ambush Gautam Mehra in hotel that its time to become Singham, the film Singham Returns was also released in 2014, three months after release of Ek Villain.
