Frank Whaley was offered the chance to reprise his role as Mason from the previous film. He was interested in returning, but ultimately turned it down for salary reasons.
When driving up to the motel there is a sign that has a branch obscuring the sign and making it read "cheap Bates" - a nod to the original slasher motel, the Bates Motel from Psycho (1960).

PR tour of Trailer, cast and props, in follow up to original film 'Vacancy' PR in 2007, occurred Saturday 23rd August 2008 adjacent to the 'Rose Playhouse / Museum'. Has nostalgic homage plus genre theme aspects to two prior events, 'Save the Rose', campaign Street Party held 23rd April 1989, where 'Anthony Perkins', brought cast and props of 'Psycho' trilogy; also film '8mm', where 'Nicholas Cage' joined cast for PR to same UK location.
