Exclusive: Sas: Who Dares Wins and Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test instructor and writer Remi Adeleke has teamed with Emmy-winner Nick Nanton on Hero, a doc feature exploring perseverance and hope. Nanton’s companies DNA Films and Abundance Studios are teaming to make the feature.

Adeleke and Nanton previously partnered to develop Timothy Ballard’s book Slave Stealers: True Accounts Of Slave Rescues Then & Now as a TV series alongside Ballard, Brian Norton and screenwriter Cody Newton Gifford.

Hero will explore the concept of the hero’s journey through stories of perseverance, hope, and courage in the face of adversity. It’s currently in post-production. Nanton is the director, with former Navy Seal Adeleke producing.

Justin Bartha’s getting back into the treasure hunting game. The actor will return to the “National Treasure” series for the upcoming series of the same name, Disney Plus announced Monday.

Bartha starred in the two “National Treasure” films, released in 2004 and 2007 as Riley Poole, the best friend and computer expert sidekick of treasure hunting lead Benjamin Franklin Gates (Nicolas Cage). Bartha will appear in a guest capacity for the upcoming Disney Plus series, which stars a new cast of treasure hunters searching for a lost Pan-American treasure.

In addition to starring in “National Treasure,” Bartha is best known for starring in the three “Hangover” films. Disney+’s National Treasure series will see a familiar face as Justin Bartha returns to reprise his role from the movie franchise. Bartha will guest star as Riley Poole and appear opposite stars Lisette Alexis and Catherine Zeta-Jones in the series, a project from Disney Branded Television’s for Disney+ produced by ABC Signature.

National Treasure is an expansion of the namesake movie franchise and centers on a young heroine, Jess (Alexis), a brilliant and resourceful dreamer who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about her family’s mysterious past and save a lost Pan-American treasure.

Bartha starred as Riley in the first National Treasure film in 2004, opposite Nicolas Cage. Riley is a computer whiz who helped Cage’s Benjamin Franklin Gates uncover the truths behind historical relics. Bartha also appeared in the 2007 follow-up film National Treasure: Book of Secrets.

Stephen King adaptation Doctor Sleep becomes the latest title to try and end Joker’s run at the top of the UK box office this weekend (both are Warner Bros titles).

Directed by Mike Flanagan, Doctor Sleep is an adaptation of King’s 2013 novel, a sequel to 1977’s The Shining.

The narrative is set several decades after the events of The Shining, as an adult Dan Torrance meets a young girl with similar powers and tries to protect her from a cult known as The True Knot.

The Tribeca Film Festival has finalized its juries for the 2018 fest, two days before it kicks off its 17th edition. Names including Martha Coolidge, Norman Reedus, André Holland, Ray Liotta, Chris Messina, Zosia Mamet, Sasheer Zamata, Alyssa Reiner, Josh Charles, Haifaa Al Mansour and Lakeith Stanfield have been set to oversee the features, shorts, Storyscapes section and awards categories.

The fest launches Wednesday night with the world premiere of the Gilda Radner documentary Love, Gilda. Tribeca runs April 18-29 in New York City.

The Tribeca Film Festival announced its jurors for this year’s event, which runs from April 16-27. The list includes Toni Collette, Lake Bell, Whoopi Goldberg, Catherine Hardwicke, Heather Graham, Anton Yelchin, Paul Wesley and 26 other leaders of the filmmaking community.

In addition to the Festival’s main competition juries in seven categories, Tribeca named Delia Ephron, Natasha Lyonne, and Gary Ross to select the second annual Nora Ephron Prize, which awards $25,000 to a female writer or director.

Exclusive: Paradigm, which has significantly bettered its feature lit list recently, has added another talented writer/director/producer to its roster in Bart Freundlich. The filmmaker, who was signed by Ken Stovitz, has credits that include The Rebound, Trust The Man, Catch That Kid, and the Sundance hit The Myth Of Fingerprints, which launched his career. After directing numerous episodes of Californication and Prime Suspect, Freundlich is currently writing with Tom Hanks the pilot Halcyon for Playtone and HBO. Married to actress Julianne Moore, Freundlich is based in New York and remains repped by lawyer Ira Schreck.

At the First Time Fest, accomplished filmmakers came to teach and advocate new filmmakers how to get their film made and how to make their film popular. As part of the How They Did It Panel Series, the “We Need A Bigger Boat-Producing Independent Cinema” panel had producers speak about the struggles they had not only making their first films, but also the films they’re working on right now.

Guests of the Producers Panel were Josh Astrachan, who produced Gosford’s Park, as well as Rose Ganguzza, whose latest and widely distributed film was Margin Call. Jonathan Grey was in attendance as well, having produced not only Margin Call but Machete as well recently. Dolly Hall, who produced 54, was there as well, with Bob Salerno talking about Arbitrage and Tim Perell, who produced The Rebound. Two of our favorite John Cusack (2012) movies are High Fidelity and Grosse Pointe Blank, and we’re thrilled to finally have them on high-definition Blu-ray.

2000′s High Fidelity and 1997′s Grosse Pointe Blank and both smart, fast-talking and very funny films.

Based on the book by Nick Hornby, High Fidelity tells the story of Rob (Cusack) a record store owner and compulsive list maker who’s having relationship issues. After his girlfriend (Iben Hjejle) leaves him for their older and very strange neighbor (Tim Robbins, Bull Durham), Rob recounts his top five breakups, visiting his exes (including Catherine Zeta-Jones, The Rebound) to find out where he went wrong.

Catherine Zeta-Jones took a hiatus from acting late last decade, but she’s been back in the game with The Rebound and Sundance Weinstein pick-up Lay the Favorite. Now, she’s continuing that working streak with Red 2. At 42, it might be a little early for her to retire. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar-winner has signed on alongside Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker and Dame Helen Mirren who will be reprising their roles. The screenwriters, Erich and Jon Hoeber, are also back, but director Robert Schwentke is not. He’s currently working on R.I.P.D., which may or may not be the reason, but Dean Parisot will be taking his spot. Parisot is also an Oscar winner, having won for Best Live-Action Short Film back in 1989 and going on to direct Galaxy Quest and Fun With Dick and Jane. J. Edgar (Warner Bros.) Director Clint Eastwood provides a rock-solid, albeit rather flat portrait of polarizing FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, covering his life from late teens to his death. Leonardo DiCaprio does an impressive turn as Hoover, never crossing the line into caricature, and creating a Hoover that is all too human, making for an all the more unsettling look at absolute power run amuck. Where the film stumbles is the love story at its core: Hoover’s relationship with longtime aide Clyde Tolson (Armie Hammer). In the hands of an openly-gay director like Gus Van Sant, this could have been a heartbreaking, tender story of forbidden (unrequited?) love, but Eastwood seems to tiptoe around their romance, with far too much delicacy and deference. The film works well when recreating the famous crimes and investigations which Hoover made his name on (the Lindbergh kidnapping,...

Catherine Zeta-Jones hasn’t been a major player in the world of romantic comedies for quite some time, and in her absence the likes of Katherine Heigl, Kate Hudson, and Jennifer Aniston have unleashed a stream of monochromatic fare. The Rebound had a chance to shake things up as an unconventional love story between a recently separated 40-something mother of two and her male 25-year-old nanny. An age gap of that size is typically used for laughs in romantic comedies, with a wily cougar pursuing a bewildered but not entirely unwilling young buck. In The Rebound, it’s a much more honest and contemplative coupling that gives Zeta-Jones and Justin Bartha a chance to shine with two quirky kids, but they ultimately fizzle out from a complete lack of any romantic spark and a script that flinches in the final act.

When Steven Soderbergh's Traffic came out in 2000, Catherine Zeta-Jones was at the top of her game. She was one of the biggest actresses in Hollywood and only two years away from her first Oscar. The film, written by Brian Tucker, centers on a cop-turned-p.I. (Wahlberg) who is hired by the Mayor (Crowe) to find out if his wife (Zeta-Jones) is having an affair. When he confirms that she is, her lover soon turns up dead and the P.I. is drawn into a vast political conspiracy. The people behind “R.I.P.D.” are hoping to start filming in September, which means casting needs to be finalized soon. Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges are already the leads and Kevin Bacon has already been cast as a villain of some sort, and now actress Stephanie Szostak is in negotiations to play Reynolds’ wife.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, her character will be still be alive but is somehow able to sense her dead husband's presence. Does she have psychic powers, or is her love so strong it will continue after death? Either way, it's a lead role, so don’t expect her to be some forgotten wife only showing up for a scene or two.

Catherine Zeta-Jones hasn't been on screen in the past few years (her last film, Bart Freundlich's 2009 effort The Rebound, is still seeking distribution) but she is starting to get new roles. She'll be in Lay the Favorite with Bruce Willis, and now Adam Shankman has cast her as a new character in his film adaptation of the stage musical Rock of Ages. THR [1] reports that her character, created for the film, is the movie's villain. Mr. Shankman says, It’s a character that we only really came to in the last month... The character was invented to streamline the stories. He describes her as if "Tipper Gore and Anita Bryant had a love child. She is this hardcore, moral majority, arch-conservative who wants to shut down rock’n roll in the great city of Los Angeles." (Catherine Zeta-Jones is no stranger to the musical, having won an Oscar for Chicago.

Catherine Zeta-Jones' career trajectory has always befuddled me. After years of television work and small films, the actress finally made it big in the late 90s and even won an Oscar for her performance in 2002's Chicago. Despite the huge win, however, her workload never seemed to increase, averaging only one to two movies per year since. Even stranger, she hasn't been in a movie since the 2009 comedy The Rebound with Justin Bartha. As of recently, Zeta-Jones has finally been getting back in the game, taking roles in movies like Lay the Favorite and Playing The Field, and now she's signed up for another one. It’s another singing and dancing routine for Catherine Zeta-Jones. Deadline is reporting the actress will join the cast of “Rock of Ages” as a new role that has been created for the movie version. She will be playing the wife of the mayor of Los Angeles, a conservative character who wants to get rid of rock and roll. “There are so many plotlines in the piece, we thought it would be fun to create a villain, and a cultural discussion point,” said Adam Skankman, director of the film. “She’s the moral majority person, kind of like Tipper Gore and Anita Bryand had a love child in that era. To have a great actress who won an actress in this genre with ‘Chicago’ is wonderful.” It was also revealed she will take part and sing Pat Benatar’s “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” and Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It.

Joshua Jackson (Cruel Intentions) has signed on to star in comedy-drama Lay the Favourite.

Jackson will star opposite Bruce Willis (Pulp Fiction), Rebecca Hall (The Town) and Catherine Zeta-Jones (The Rebound).

Lay the Favourite will center on a thirtysomething woman (Hall) who becomes involved with a group of geeky fiftyish men who have found a way to work the sportsbook system in Las Vegas to their advantage.

Stephen Frears (Tamara Drewe) is attached to direct from screenplay by D.V. DeVincentis (High Fidelity).

Jackson can currently be seen in the TV series Fringe, which airs on Sky1.
