This drama was uber cute. I loved watching the subtle ways the male lead showed he was falling in love. And i'm personally a major fan of non-brooding silent type characters. However, the antagonist was just a bit too moral-less for my liking. For the few episodes at the climax, i felt a bit too much like i was watching a soap opera. But I think it's a perfect pick for those that are more receptive to drama than me. And despite this fact, i will probably be open to a rewatch myself.

It's simple and easy-to-watch tv drama about the youthful and immature love relationship of university students. The main characters Zhao Fanzhou (played by Gong Jun) and Zhou Xiao (played by Liu Reyi) have cute personalities and good chemistry. They are each other's first loves; the two young actors aptly conveyed their insecurities about their relationship. They broke up and then got back together (which is a common plot in c-drama) but the reason is acceptable.
I heard Gong Jun and Liu Reyi didn't have much acting experience when filming this drama. I think their performance is above average. Overall, the drama is realistic and I enjoyed watching it.

I started watching The Love Equations because I remembered all the good comments about it. The first few episodes were nice and I was excited for a cute drama. Now I understand they were probably because this drama it's probably how they discovered Gong Jun.
Luckily, I have seen him in Begin Again -a drama from the same year as this one- and other more recent projects, which is why I can say he delivers a good performance, perhaps the strongest in the entire drama, but the story is no good and the chemistry is simply not there.
The story overall is filled with scenes and plotlines poorly developed, particularly when we are dealing with subjects such as mental health. I understand this is a character driven drama but when I tell you there's nothing interesting about it, I mean it.
