The world’s biggest beverage brand is dipping its toes into the TikTok Shop waters. Coca-Cola has unveiled two new flavors: A permanent addition called Coca-Cola Spiced and a TikTok-exclusive option titled Happy Tears.
According to Coca-Cola, Happy Tears lives up to its weepy moniker by blending classic Coke taste with “a splash of salty minerals.” The product will only be available through TikTok Shop, which has been gaining steam in the West despite encountering some setbacks during its rollout. Coca-Cola’s presence on Shop is good news for TikTok, which has built up its Stateside sales team as part of its effort to onboard new vendors.
Happy Tears is set to hit TikTok Shop in the U.S. and U.K. on February 17, a date that has been dubbed Random Acts of Kindness Day. Coca-Cola Senior Director for Global Strategy Oana Vlad told AdAge that the beverage brand...

Hey, remember when they released that picture of the CGI movie Sonic the Hedgehog and it was so freakish and unnerving that animators had to work overtime to fix it? Anywho, Sonic the Hedgehog is coming to Hulu this month.
The heroic blue hedgehog who just wants to go fast is far from the only exciting new film or TV show coming to Hulu in February 2021. The library titles are unusually packed this month. In addition to Sonic, the sublimely goofy Mars Attacks!, 2020 horror film Possessor, and the first six Star Trek films all arrive on Feb. 1. Later on in the month are Antebellum (Feb. 5) and Nomadland (Feb. 19).
It’s a good thing that the library titles are strong because Hulu isn’t brining many originals of note to the table in February 2021. Into the Dark continues on its spooky mission with the Valentine-centric Tentacles dropping on Feb. 12. That will...

The costume designer Stacey Battat has, to date, worked mostly in female-oriented contemporary indies. That's quite a perfect niche to build a design career from. Or at least it is when the women who've visually helped define your early work are such stylish talented icons themselves. Battat first made her mark on two Parker Posey features in the late Aughts (Broken English, Happy Tears). Soon after she was deep in the Julianne Moore business (Still Alice, Freeheld, What Maisie Knew). Other credits include The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Her and Him and Mozart in the Jungle but it's been her partnership with writer/director Sofia Coppola that's come to define her young career.
The two began working together on the La dreamy Somewhere (2010). Battat proved invaluable to all the fashiongasms of Coppola's arguably most underrated feature The Bling Ring (2013). Then came an atypical challenge: a forgotten girls...

Chicago – It was a Chicago moment for the legendary filmmaker Woody Allen, as he walked the Red Carpet on behalf of his latest film, “Irrational Man.” He was joined by a co-star in the film, Parker Posey, and HollywoodChicago.com was there to capture these Exclusive Portraits.

Just three features in to his filmography, it’s safe to say that director Mitchell Lichtenstein is never happier than when, how shall we put it, frolicking in the lady garden. Even his least gynecological film, 2010's "Happy Tears," had Parker Posey analyzing her vaginal discharge. And his debut, 2007's "Teeth," positively gloried in its vaginality: grotesquely, graphically, and with uneven black humor telling the exploitation-style story of a young woman's journey to empowerment via her vagina dentata — or, if you prefer a more euphemistic take, the choppers in her ham wallet. It's to this literally fertile territory he returns in his third, and most well-crafted film, "Angelica," albeit dressed up in corsets and bustles and adapted from an Arthur Phillips novel. While it may look and sound a little like a ghost story in the "Turn of the Screw" mould, and while there are a multitude of subplots and side themes that should add.

It’s been six years since Mitchell Lichtenstein’s last feature, "Happy Tears," and eight since his debut, the Jess Weixler-starring “Teeth.” Ahead of its premiere at the Berlin Film Festival this weekend, the trailer for Lichtenstein’s third film, "Angelica," has arrived online for your viewing pleasure. Running just over 45 seconds, the trailer (via THR) for “Angelica” is a brief look at Lichtenstein’s first foray into the period piece, even if it’s still within the confines of the horror genre. The film also marks the first time Lichtenstein has adapted a book, Arthur Phillips’s novel of the same name, and it centers on Jena Malone’s Constance, who, in 1880 London, must practice sexual abstinence because of the erroneous medical advice of the era. As one expects in a Lichtenstein film, things do not go well. Here's the official synopsis: London in 1880, in the middle of the Victorian era.

For one family in England, a move to a new home in rural Somerset initially brings out the best in their treatment of each other, but the walls housing their newfound harmony have perilous plans in store. The house in Kim Newman’s new novel, An English Ghost Story, is not “home sweet home” material, and readers can experience moving day in the exclusive excerpt provided to us by Titan Books.
“A dysfunctional British nuclear family seek a new life away from the big city in the sleepy Somerset countryside. At first their new home, The Hollow, seems to embrace them, creating a rare peace and harmony within the family. But when the house turns on them, it seems to know just how to hurt them the most – threatening to destroy them from the inside out. A stand-alone novel from acclaimed author Kim Newman.

If you're going to cry, you know what they say: there's no better time to do it than on a Monday afternoon at your desk. The latest trailer for "The Fault in Our Stars" is here, and if you have even an ounce of a soul left it's bound to make you tear up at least a little bit. Or, you know, feel something, for chrissakes. What are we, robots? "I'm a grenade," says Shailene Woodley's cancer-stricken Hazel. "And one day I'm gonna blow up, and I'm gonna obliterate everything in my wake, and I don't wanna hurt you." Sob! I am not even kidding, you guys: This trailer freaking destroyed me. Here are six other parts that made me weepy. 1. The part where the sweet-faced Augustus (Ansel Elgort) says "You don't get to choose if you get hurt in this world, but you do have a say in who hurts you.

Commercial Failure: Bernbaum’s Debut Doa
What sounds good on paper doesn’t always translate well on screen, and Zack Bernbaum’s directorial debut, And Now a Word from Our Sponsor, exemplifies the delirious dangers of gimmicky filmmaking. A cutesy idea that doesn’t seem far removed from something that could have easily been a wooden studio feature top lining Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler, sinks like a lead balloon within its establishing frames. Instead of making any attempt to redirect from the predictable trajectory outlined by its feeble premise, Bernbaum, together with Michael Hamilton-Wright’s naggingly insistent screenplay, instead plunge head long into its flat concept, a stubborn perseverance that makes its slight running time a grueling test of patience.
Opening with a montage of famous commercials, we find the collapsed body of Adan Kundle (Bruce Greenwood), unconscious in a white room filled with static television sets. It turns...

Sucker Punch star Jena Malone is set to star in a psychological ghost-story thriller called Angelica, which is set to be directed by Mitchell Lichtenstein (Teeth, Happy Tears).
The movie actually sounds like it could be really good. It's based on a novel of the same name written by Arthur Phillips (Prague, The Egyptologist). The story is set in the 1880s, and Malone will play a character named Constance, "a young shop girl who falls for and marries Dr. Joseph Barton. After the difficult childbirth of their daughter Angelica, doctor-ordered celibacy creates a rift in the Bartons’ marriage and a ghostly force enters their home."
The movie was also describled as being a "sexually-charged supernatural mystery from multiple perspectives." So it has that going for it. I enjoy watching horror films, and Malone is a talented young actress, she most recently had a role in The History Channel's Hatfields & McCoys.

• Emma Watson might get the princess treatment in Kenneth Branagh’s live action adaptation of Cinderella for Disney. Cate Blanchett has already been cast as the wicked stepmother. Watson is only in early talks at this point, so although it seems like the shoe fits, it might be best not to get too attached to the idea of her as Cinderella. [Variety]

Deadline reports that actress Jena Malone, who has had mostly supporting roles, most notably in the miniseries: Hatfields & McCoys and in Suckerpunch will now star in the film adaptation of the ghost story “Angelica”.
Mitchell Lichtenstein (Teeth, Happy Tears) will direct.
Here is a synopsis of the book from the author’s website:
“From the bestselling author of The Egyptologist and Prague comes an equally accomplished and entirely surprising new novel. Angelica is a spellbinding Victorian ghost story, an intriguing literary and psychological puzzle, and a meditation on marriage, childhood, memory, and fear.
The novel opens in London, the 1880’s, and the Barton household is on the brink of collapse. Mother, father, and daughter provoke each other, consciously and unconsciously, and a horrifying crisis is triggered. As the family’s tragedy is told several times from different perspectives, events are recast, and sympathies shift; nothing is at it seems. These...

Not even 30 years old yet, Jena Malone has built her career on a variety of complicated characters in challenging movies that often fared better with critics than at the box office. After a strong turn in last year.s Hatfields & McCoys miniseries and a major role in the upcoming Hunger Games sequel, it seemed like Malone might be making her way up the steps to generic stardom, which makes her newest project all the more interesting. Malone will play the lead role in an upcoming adaptation of Arthur Phillips. critically-acclaimed seductive supernatural thriller Angelica, according to Deadline. Angelica will be the next project for director Mitchell Lichtenstein, the man responsible for the middling horror-comedy Teeth and the middling dramatic comedy Happy Tears. Angelica, which takes place in 1880s London, follows Constance (Malone), a shop clerk who falls in love with an older doctor and marries him. The difficult childbirth of...

These so called 'Happy Tears' shoot through our veins like free flowing dopamine and leave us comfortably cringing. The prints, cuts and materials from this collection are reminiscent of the feeling of coming home and at the same time letting go. This intimately familiar laugh echoes through our memories and seizes us suddenly and unexpectedly - whether we want it to or not. This power is reflected in Zigerli's collection. Welcome to the 50 club, Demi Moore!
Demi Moore has enthralled us throughout her 28-year-long career, but long before Moore was one of the highest paid actress in film history or a gossip magazine favorite, she was just a struggling 16-year-old, attempting to live independently off a fledgling-modeling career. At 19, the New Mexico native had transitioned into acting, landing a role on "General Hospital." She made the jump to the big screen in "Blame It On Rio" opposite Michael Caine as his daughter; by the release of "St. Elmo’s Fire" one year later, she was a star.
For years Demi was one of the premiere actresses in Hollywood, going on to star in successful films like “About Last Night…,” “Ghost,” “A Few Good Men,” “Indecent Proposal,” and “G.I. Jane.” Of her 1986 performance in “About Last Night…,” movie critic Robert Ebert wrote, “Moore is especially impressive. There isn't a romantic note...

It's two days after Christmas and having recovered after the annual bloated festive hoopla, it's back to the sofa for the lucky repeat of this year's festive Who offering. It begins with a great big flamey bang – coming straight after the repeat omnibus of EastEnders, I'm convinced that somehow slimy freak Yusef has survived the devastating inferno at Patrick Trueman's B&B and gone on to wreak pyromaniacal havoc aboard a spaceship. We're never told, but The Doctor's in big, big trouble here – the only way out is to grab hold of a handy protective spacesuit and float towards the Earth like a futuristic version of the Bullseye mascot.
Compare that to the two approaches to the Christmas specials. Russell T Davies, for the most part, looked to familiar movies and movie genres for his Crimbo tales – Independence Day for The Christmas Invasion , screwball comedies for The Runaway Bride and...

K-Stew greeted one of her biggest fans -- without a bodyguard! She's so good to them. Would meeting Kristen Stewart qualify as the best day of your life? It certainly did for one Twilight super-fan, Anna, who wrote on her Tumblr about a recent encounter with K-Stew on the England set of Snow White and the Huntsman. Despite being told by security that she wouldn't be able to see Kristen, Anna kept the faith -- and after waiting seven long hours, she eventually got to meet her idol. "Everything happened so quickly," Anna recalls. "[Kristen] hesitated for a sec and came back out alone without the bodyguard next to her. ... That overwhelming moment, I just couldn’t describe it. ... She came up to me with her little shy smile and said 'Hi' and [shook] my hand. She is just so nice and down to earth. I couldn’t control a little tear after she left.

Apologies for the long delay in our third Owf Award of 2010 but things have been ridiculously busy around here. Today’s is a fun category for the weekend, probably the most light-hearted and widely opinionated of the whole awards agenda, because it doesn’t matter how great or how shitty a movie is, it’s the poster for that film – often the unfulfilled promise of a movie – that we are awarding here.
So simply, which poster was the most striking and memorable to you? Maybe it impressed you with it’s artist merit, it’s complexity or it’s simplicity?
Like the rest of the categories, I’ve narrowed it down to 15 choices. I’m sure there will be those I’ve missed or forgotten, so do speak up in the comments section.
You can nominate as many as three films from below, the top five will be Owf Nominated,...

We know you were losing sleep over it, so we're happy to be the first to tell you that Furry Vengeance and Yogi Bear are both eligible to be nominated for Best Screenplay Oscars on January 25. Also that Marmaduke score that has been wearing out your iPod? It's eligible too. However, the inclusion of these 2010 masterpieces really isn't that big a surprise. With final nominations just over a month away the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that 241 screenplays - 134 original and 107 adapted - are eligible for a Best Screenplay nomination and that music from 77 films is eligible for Best Original Score (not including Black Swan, The Fighter or The Kids Are All Right [1]). Add those to the 248 films eligible [2] for Best Picture and Oscar voters have a lot of work to do in the coming weeks. Kind of. See the full lists, the favorites and read the rules after the jump.

So far I've collected six separate 2010 compilation videos looking back at the this year's collection of films. To the best of my knowledge, these six videos include clips from 303 films and together they total 34:34. I have included the complete list of films on the second page if you are interested. Happy Tears has all of the ingredients for a smart, witty, quirkfest, including a cast of wall-to-wall indie darlings the likes of Parker Posey, Rip Torn, and Ellen Barkin. It features humor and inspiring moments that would be successful, were they not book-ended by trippy, stylized dream sequences and disjointed editing that leave the viewer bored or confused and the film ultimately falling flat.

When In Rome: "Kristen Bell plays Beth, a rich young gorgeous art curator with a giant apartment in New York City and a job at the Guggenheim. Her dad dates beach volleyball players. Her love interest is Nick (Josh Duhamel) who is a rich young gorgeous sports writer from New York who isn't in pro football only because he got struck by lightning during a game. So these are like totally blue collar people. Why don't you just make the characters a princess and a fucking Kennedy in the first place? Yeah, I'm not saying that rich, young and gorgeous people don't have problems too, it's just that I don't care on account of being dead and cynical inside." - Steven Lloyd Wilson
