This was very well shot, and although the story's concept was awesome, it was way too long at 131 mins with some long dragged out and unnecessary scenes. The slow pacing didn't help either. You'd think with three writers the screenplay would be tight, but it was riddled with plot and technical issues, some laughable logic, and tons of ridiculous dialogue. Romans character was annoying, and there was too much "Top Gun" music and slow-mo scenes that were cringeworthy. Still, a decent one-time watch, especially for the stunning visuals. It's a generous 6/10 from me.

Unlike "Only the Brave" - which is one of the most honest and tragic movie about firefighters - this one is not based on a real story. So this is much more intense and entertaining. Very good looking picture and great acting of Kostantin Khabensky.
But it looks like producers watched "Only the Brave" and decided to do same stuff but more. More fire, more drama, add a dozen of kids, a pregnant woman and some over the edge heroic sequences that does match with physics. Not a total rip-off of the Braves, but you can clearly see where did they get their fuel.
But where slow paced "Only the Brave" made real drama build up and make you cry in the end - this one just all over the place. Where first movie shows in details the actual work of hotshots and what is their actual line of work - this movie kinda more about dealing with people then with fire. May be this is more truthful to Russia. In any case this does not hit you with a drama as much as "Only the Brave" and gives you more entertaining experience more like summer blockbuster movies.
I see no point comparing it to "Backdraft" as some other reviewers - cause unless you've been living under a rock for last 30 years you've got more flicks to compare too. Backdraft is classics, but let it go already.
Anyway, I totally recommend to watch this movie. Great flick! But the best way to understand it is after "Only the Brave". Cause they definitely payed some ommage to it.

This film is very very good! It reinforces my respect for firefighters. They really are heroic and selfless. I think this is a must watch.
Impressing, astonishing, frighteningly beautiful shots of forest fires. Also an incredible scene of a woman giving birth stuck in a burning bus. Good acting, some humor here and there. But altogether a quite conventional hero and catastrophy story with stereotypical antiheros on the firefighter team and a hardly innovative father-daughter-son in law love and family drama and pathetic slow motion hero shots and patriotic vibes that remind of Armageddon and its likes. But still very entertaining and grippling due to the very worthwhile fire images and a duty that is unarguably indeed very heroic.

The movie is a perfect hardcopy of typical US big budget dramas with some terror factor - pride and fight story. Switch the fire with - for example - struggling with stopping a comet and you've got the very same movie :)
Watchable however, nice blockbuster.

A very high-quality film made, despite the cringe in the first 15 minutes and in places a lazy set-up, a very tense and coolly directed film with a cool Khabensky. I do not recommend missing it.

2017 saw the release of 'Only the Brave'. 2019 brought us 'The Bravest'. And in 2020 we saw the release of 'Fire' (also known as 'No Escapes').
'Fire' takes its time setting up the characters, but this made us get to know them, and ultimately root for them. Much of the film's long running time was made up of unnecessary humorist scenes, and the film only really gets direction and become serious around the 1-hour mark. Once there, it is a rollercoaster ride of suspense and excitement, filled with drama and emotion.
The film's main protagonist is Andrey (Konstantin Khabenskiy), who leads a fire fighting team. After the death of one of his team members, he decides to include his daughter Katya (Stasya Miloslavskaya)'s new boyfriend, Roman (Ivan Yankovskiy) in his team. Roman is a bit of an arrogant deuce bag, to put it bluntly.
Of all the characters, I connected most to Lev (Viktor Dobronravov), who also had the best and most tragic back story. 'Fire' is a heroic tale of bravery against all odds. It is filled with action, suspense, and great visual effects (some of the fire scenes are actual footage).
'Fire' is a much better film than 'Only the Brave' (which, by the way, I didn't enjoy at all), but 'The Bravest' still remains my favourite.

I do think it's a pretty good movie that I seen. The story is pretty good with firefighter goal is to stop the fire and save the villagers. It builds up really well with the characters and the disaster of the fire. The movie is pretty long and could be trimmed by cutting scenes that is not necessary to the plot. A couple plotlines that is easily predictable and is rather generic for the most about. The strongest part is the suspense on how the characters trying to figured out how to save everyone and to protect people from the dangers of the fire. It contains great special effects of the fire and other things.
It's a pretty good Russian disaster movie.

Let me say up front that I like classic action movies. I am not woke. I've read some comparisons here with Backdraft and No Way Out. That's ridiculous. Backdraft is a classic. No Way Out is not a classic but lives on its authenticity. Fire has none of that. It is an impudent copy of No Way Out without ever reaching the film. Other films are stolen as well. But it doesn't help. The plot is chaotic. The story is a joke to say the least. Unbelievable and offers little suspense. I had expected more from it.

I watched this film on a wide screen in a cinema, and then several times already at home on Kinopoisk. I watched it several times and will definitely look again in a while, because this picture won my heart and forever left an imprint of emotions on my heart. One of the Russian films that I can confidently call my favorite.
The actors are brilliant in their roles and perfectly convey the emotions of their characters. The plot is as simple and uncomplicated as possible, but the whole "trick" of the picture is how the actors play. The entourage acquires the film thanks to the views, intonations and mannerisms of the main characters.
No matter how much negative criticism rains down on Russian cinema, the film "Fire" has nothing to reproach for, it has no flaws.
I sincerely envy those who have not yet seen this picture!
One of the films whose plot is impossible to predict, has a beautiful climax to which they lead gently, and then literally amaze with it.
Very beautiful picture from a visual point of view. Events unfold in the forests of Karelia, each frame is shot with a soul and a special vision of the world.
It's nice to watch films that after watching leave a trace in the soul, leave material for reflection and generally penetrate the mind, the film "Fire" is certainly one of the great films!

Unfortunately the movie, to be concrete, requires good scenario, average director skills and a little bit of common sense. None of above is here, so... total disaster (which is sad because of the perfect cast and huge budget). Safe to ignore and not waste time.

I love foreign movies.. this movie was very moving, entertaining, thrilling, good pace.. Great performances by the actors, especially the lead Konstantin Khabenskiy (go see him in a tv series called The Method, he's very amazing in it ). Some people said this one copy hollywood movie, but I found it stands on its own stories in a good way. As long as it interesting to watch, go watch it people ! You won't regret it... hope there's more film like this.

If you like firefighting movies, on a level more close to the human race, and quite opposite to the hollywoodized superhuman fu-fire-fighting movies made over many years, then go for this ruusian film called ogon aka fire, made on a super rubelized oligarkik budget levels.
Its very russian with loads of heroism, hierarkism, good old communism, a handful of chauvenism and a dreadlock of patriotism that will surprisingly enough spring out as a fawn of the forests, falling into the arms of the devil, when the fire season arrives in the deep dark forests of taigashian russia.
Its a film showing eberydaylife of firefighters and villagers in rural russia, and tells several tracks of stories, into one grand finale that kept me and myfellow grumpy old wife on the brink of passout due to lack of oxygene and heat due to excitement and twists, cool visual and other special effects and a very sound of musical score.
The cast consists of many big russian actors and quite a few newbies too, but the whole ensemble, production crew and plot takes it to a new level of eastern european filmaking
the only minus with this version we saw was dubbed into english with some mediocre voicetalents, but for the rest , a very intense and exciting actionthriller made on the usual new-wave of neo-russian filmaking. Its a recommend.

I'm emotionally touched by this movie
I think it's better than Back Draft (1991) in emotional side
The final scene made me cry and healing
I recommend this title is the best disaster movie in this year
The best disaster movie of the year!
I haven't seen a disaster movie in a long time with a touching story.

Great entertainment, cinematography, soundtrack, and visual effects. English dubbing is as usual - not the greatest (but what dubbing is?!) Surprisingly, it's a movie I can easily watch more than once just for the sake of good ol' 'disaster genre fun' on a big screen TV. It beats many other over-analytical and drawn-out talkies indeed.

I want to share my impression of the movie "Ogon". The whole movie turned out to be large-scale and very addictive. Here is not only a high-quality script, but also an embodiment at the highest level. We are facing tragic and fateful decisions, when every person can understand what he is worth. However, there is also humor, romance, and where without grief, even right and strong-willed actions do not save from it.
It was not possible to get bored for a couple of minutes, different heroes, different destinies, a different measure of responsibility, a combination of circumstances, you look and understand that a heroic act takes place in our time.
Undoubtedly, everything was immediately gathered into a certain pile, but that's why it's a movie, so that the viewer does not have time to catch his breath from the problems that have fallen on the heroes, no one wants to watch about ordinary everyday life.
The film is about choice, about unrealistically difficult decisions, about responsibility, about real heroes. Such films first devastate, and then fill with something bright, kind and sublime! Wonderful movie!
