Raise your hand if you have a grave weakness for a certain heroic werewolf and his sarcastic best friend. (My hand's up.)
I have such fond high school memories of donning my mock Stilinski lacrosse jersey on Teen Wolf "Moondays" and announcing to my parents that it was time for them to evacuate the room so that I could fully immerse myself in the world of Beacon Hills.
To think we are getting a revival at long last! It's thrilling!
If you're as psyched for the upcoming Teen Wolf movie as I am, you're probably itching to take a trip down memory lane, with all its big bads and shocking bumps.
Below is a selection of the best of each season for your viewing pleasure. Bust out your old fan gear and get watching!
1. "Wolf Moon"
What better place to start your trek into Teen Wolf's glory days than the pilot?...

Two treasure hunters uncover a sealed tomb and awaken a mummy that has waited years to come back and wipe humanity from the face of the Earth. It’s a race against time as they try to stop the Mummy from wreaking havoc on the modern world…
What’s that? A new mummy movie? Is it a sequel to the Tom Cruise movie? Nope. Is it an mockbuster from The Asylum? Nope. Then what is it?
Well in truth it’s a brand-new take on the mummy mythos from filmmaker Justin Price and actress turned producer/director Khu, who previously worked with Price on films like Snare, The 13th Friday and Dark Moon Rising. It’s also a take on the legend that returns to a more serious tone,...

Regression #1
Writer: Cullen Bunn

I’ve been reviewing Cullen Bunn’s horror comics since 2014, of which there are more than a few: The Remains, The Empty Man, Wolf Moon, Hellbreak and the long-form ongoing Harrow County. He’s an insanely prolific writer and most of his titles are worthwhile but honestly it’s a bit hard to keep up, especially with more and more creators dropping their own horror titles left and right. But Danny Luckert’s covers for Regression, greatly enhanced by the work of colorist Marie Enger, have caught my eye with their body-horror, skin-crawling promise. So here we are.
Regression is, like Bunn’s Wolf Moon, a relatively simple concept: what if hypnotherapy accidentally unlocked, for one innocent man, a whole host of unseen horrors? Except, in Regression, those horrors have mandibles, thousands of tiny legs,...

Artist/writer Jill Thompson has one of the most idiosyncratic bodies of work in contemporary comics ranging from important arcs on legendary comics series The Sandman and The Invisibles to more traditional superhero work like a run on Wonder Woman as well her own creator owned comic/children’s book/film series Scary Godmother. She has drawn everything from dying stripper gods to Romantic poets, Batman to Bart Simpson and even an all animal cast in her Eisner winning Dark Horse series Beasts of Burden with writer Evan Dorkin. She is also one of the few creators not named Neil Gaiman allowed to write The Endless in her Li’l Endless and Death stories.
But before she was winning awards and one of DC/Vertigo’s rising stars, Jill Thompson was a graduate of American Academy of Art in Chicago and doing art for several of the (now defunct) indie publishers of the late 1980s.

Description: Serial Killers Meet Serial Killer… Killers! Cassie Hack vs. the Nailbiter! Vlad vs. the Lucha Eliminador! It’S On!
Our Take: Unless you’re already a fan of either Nailbiter or Hack/Slash, don’t bother with this. If you are, this is still not an essential title; there aren’t any earth-shaking consequences for Nailbiter or Hack/Slash. In fact, the way both stories go, it’s hard not to feel a bit ripped off; Hack/Slash protagonist Cassie Hack ends up right back where she started and Nailbiter himself is being deceptive the whole time so we don’t really learning anything about him either. That said, the storylines are definitely fun and well-written so if you just really enjoy either of these titles, at only...

In the realm of horror comics, there’s few names as reliable for mature, terrifying content as DC Entertainment’s Vertigo line. Bitch Planet #1 (Image): It’s hard to ignore a book called Bitch Planet. It’s even harder to ignore something that throws gender and racial expectations under the bus so readily without becoming plotless rhetoric. This is an effective and disturbing science fiction story. One of the reasons we love Sci-Fi is that it allows us to examine real problems under the lens of dystopian extremes, and in Bitch Planet, Kelly Sue DeConnick has created a world in which women are actually shipped off to outer space unless they are “compliant” with male-dominated society (as it says in a fake ad on the back: “Hey kids, patriarchy!”). Valentine De Landro’s angular and jarring illustrations pair well with De Connick’s bait-and-switch storytelling tactics—giving readers a reason to expect one thing before upending the situation into the jaw-dropping futuristic “standard”. Revolt, revolt! 9/10

It’s such a wild idea to consider that two of my favorite writers are from Saint Louis and two of my favorite artists live in Missouri. It would be very easy to have an epic mini-convention here if I could ever get Chris Samnee, Jeremy Haun, Matt Kindt and Cullen Bunn to hang out in one place together. There’s a big convention happening here in September 2015, and they’ve confirmed the writing talents Matt Kindt and Cullen Bunn but Samnee and Haun seem to be a bit trickier. How does one trick an artist into attending a convention? I mean, we’ve already got a bunch of artists but I can only assume they’re all suckers or gluttons for punishment. I’m talking, how do you ensnare the jumpy ones? Should I set up some kind of trap using a box, a stick, some string and maybe a Wacom tablet as bait?...

Cullen Bunn will write a new Army of Darkness comic for Dynamite Entertainment.
The prolific writer will be working on the Evil Dead sequel spinoff with long-time series artist Larry Watts.
The opening arc will see Ash Williams's war against the Deadites take him to an entirely new arena - the International Space Station.
"Ash is kind of the ultimate screwball knucklehead, and he really has no business being the 'Chosen One' in the battle against ultimate darkness," said Bunn. "That's what makes him such a compelling underdog,
"With this new series, we're taking the 'fish out of water' storyline to the next level, because not only is Ash fighting the Deadites, he's doing so in the depths of space.
"With such a strange set-up, it might be easy to think that this is a big departure from what we've seen before, but my goal has been to make...

So the new Terminator movie has an official title. And it’s… interesting. Hey, listen: Book, cover, don’t judge, I get it. Maybe this time next year we’ll all be rocking Genisys T-shirts. Maybe we’ll just start spelling “genesis” as “genisys,” sort of like how you can spell it “judgment” or “judgement.” Inglourious Basterds is great, and that has two misspellings!
Still, let’s pretend for argument’s sake that Terminator: Genisys looks like the title of the fanfic spin-off you wrote back in second grade where Terminator meets Scarface and they both fight Darth Vader to save Princess Toadstool.

5. Ally Condie
Starting the list off at number five is Ally Condie and her Matched trilogy. The series follows protagonist Cassia Reyes in a dystopian future where people are paired up for marriage by Society. Love and attraction don’t play a part in the matching of the newly turned seventeen year olds, but rather the pairing is strictly based on science and algorithms. When Cassia is paired up with her childhood best friend, Xander Carrow, her future looks bright, until she begins to fall in love with Ky Markham, an outcast amongst their society.
While it seems that all popular young adult novels these days fall under the dystopian banner, Condie’s work is both gripping and greatly refreshing. And while her book does play with the ever present teenage love triangle, hers doesn’t feel forced or generic. Cassia’s doubt, fear and uncertainty come across as genuine,...

Good intentions lead to a living nightmare when student filmmakers trying to document the struggle of illegal immigrants become the targets of a dangerous radical group in Undocumented, a startling debut feature coming to DVD from IFC Films.
There are estimates that more than a million people attempt to cross illegally from Mexico to the United States every year – some succeed, some don’t. In his riveting debut as writer-director, Chris Peckover reveals the horror faced by one unlucky group of border crossers. S-11, the Navy's shark/octopus genetic hybrid was supposed to be its next super weapon; but, instead, it got away from them during a Santa Monica show of force, swam south to Puerto Vallarta, and became the SyFy Channel original movie Sharktopus (2010): cheap, trashy and with a catchy theme song, directed by SyFy alumni Declan O'Brien. At Twitch, Todd Brown offered up the film's trailer and Twitch teammate Andrew Mack expressed his fun watching the film on screener, notably the Puerto Vallarta pool scene where Sharktopus's gun-for-hire Andy Flynn (Kerem Bürsin) holds his breath underwater, surfaces wearing a sombrero, and invites two lovely Latinas to tequila balls. What an entrance! The second in a series of research interviews with the hunks of horror--the first being Chris Divecchio (Wolf Moon)--Kerem Bürsin candidly discussed going the way of low-budget genre to further his acting career.

2Mfos Unrated DVD ArtDirector/writer: Tim Sullivan.
2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams is a follow-up to director Tim Sullivan's previous film, 2001 Maniacs, which was released in 2005. This second film is being distributed by First Look Studios on DVD and the film stars Bill Moseley (Babysitter Wanted), Lin Shaye (Dark Moon Rising) and Chrisa Campbell (Day of the Dead). The film clocks in at a short eight-six minutes and the film is really a silly, send-up of characters and cliches from the South. More comedy than horror, 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams is a mostly fun film experience, with gratuitous nudity and gore the tools Sullivan uses to entertain.

Everyone loves a good slasher movie. You know, where there’s a serial killer on the loose in a small town, and it’s our job to figure out “whodunit” with each member of the cast being killed off slowly one by one? Or when a husband/father goes stir crazy in a possessed mansion and starts killing his family? Unfortunately Wolf Moon is not one of those films. It’s painful, and not in the good way.

Not gritty and disturbingly realistic like Blair Witch, but amateurish, with an incoherent plot, obvious editing, laughable dialogue, and unfortunate acting. The title card comes up showing us the definition of the word cursed: “to be afflicted with, suffer from the coming down of calamity on someone by a spirit, deity, demon or one of the dead esp. from a desire for revenge,...

Where would the horror genre be without its libidinal icons? Its scream queens and handsome hunks? Along with gore and jump scares, sex has fueled the horror genre for generations. Just as characters from the vampire and werewolf mythos can "glamour" others--i.e., put a spell on others--so is the glamorous essential to the cinematic spell cast by these denizens of the dark, and nothing spells glamour like sex appeal. Is it any wonder that young breakout actors frequently find their first feature opportunities in independent horror films?
In the first of a series of research interviews, I'll be taking a look at the hunks of horror, starting off with one of the leaders of the pack, so to speak: Chris Divecchio. Divecchio's recent turn as Dan, the werewolf drifter in Dana Mennie's Dark Moon Rising (aka Wolf Moon, 2009) skillfully interprets the sensual tension between strength and vulnerability key to such characters.

Last Thursday night, at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood, Horroryearbook's Gary G. and Andrew were On The Scene at the film's premiere. Written and directed by Dana Mennie, Wolf Moon is the tale of a small southwestern town terrorized by a rash of werewolf murders. It stars an impressive cast of genre veteran's such as Maria Conchita Alonso, Chris Mulkey, Sid Haig, Lin Shaye, and Billy Drago; alongside up and comers Max Ryan, Ginny Weirick and Chris Divecchio. Horroryearbook was excited about possibly meeting some of our genre heroes, like Mulkey, Shaye and Haig in person.

From the plethora of home video releases we got last week, June 22nd sees a much smaller batch -- only seven titles in all -- and undoubtedly the pick of the week is Shout! Factory's stellar re-packaging of Death Race 2000.

As for the rest of the offerings, unfortunately I can't be so positive. One flick we've been talking about for a while now is Dana Mennie's werewolf driven love story Dark Moon Rising. Don't let the love story part fool ya, though; the movie features Sid Haig fighting werewolves! That premise alone is enough for me to get my ass into a seat to watch it.
Lionsgate announced today that it has acquired the movie and will be sending it home to DVD on June 22nd under the title Wolf Moon. As noted, this toothy little tale stars quite the genre pedigree with Sid Haig, Maria Conchita Alonso, Max Ryan, Chris Mulkey, Billy Drago, and more.
The story of Wolf Moon goes like this: "Real love and fate collide in a small town girl's life as Amy falls in love with a mysterious drifter who brings with him a family curse and the unimaginable horror that follows. Bender, who shares the curse with his son,...

The filmmakers behind the indie zombie flick Collapse just contacted Fangoria with a few photos from their production which wrapped appropriately on Halloween. Co-directed by Jason Bolinger and "Insane" Mike Saunders (frequent collaborators on other indie fare such as The Bag Man and Lights, Camera, Kill), the film stars Chris Mulkey (of the recent werewolf pic Dark Moon Rising, Cloverfield, First Blood, and more) as Robert Morgan, a small-town farmer that finds himself fortifying his home to protect his family from a zombie outbreak.
Toby Sells (Zombieland, My Super Psycho Sweet 16) handled make-up FX for the zombies, which the producers tell Fango are of the "classic, slow" variety, while Sells gave them the more modern "freshly dead" look. Scream Queen Linnea Quigley makes an appearance in the film as well, alongside Karen Landry (Mulkey's real-life wife).
Check out the photos below, then hit up the film's Facebook page for a whopping 4500+ more.

Taking a leap into the American Film Market this year is Dana Mennie's Dark Moon Rising , a twist on the ol' "gal falls in love with a monster" tale. Just swap out a vampire boyfriend for a werewolf boyfriend and you've got this film. Oh, and Maria Conchita Alonso stars. You've also got genre vets Billy Drago, Sid Haig and Lin Shaye. Synopsis: Real love and fate collide in a small town girl's life as Amy falls in love with a mysterious drifter who brings with him a family curse and the unimaginable horror that follows. Bender, who shares the curse with his son, brings hell to Amy's small town. As Dan and Amy's love is put to the test, Thibodeaux, an ex-cop from another city who has witnessed Bender's lust for blood firsthand, Sam, the local sheriff and an ex...

One of the horror genre's most recognizable faces, Sid Haig has graced the big and small screens in over 400 projects. Recipient of a Fangoria Chainsaw Award for "Best Supporting Actor" in Rob Zombie's House Of 1000 Corpses, Haig would later receive a "Best Actor" Award for reprising his role as Captain Spaulding in The Devil's Rejects.
The busy actor and Horror Hall Of Famer recently took the time to chat with Fangoria about his long career and the love of his craft.
Jason Anders/Fangoria: So after having appeared in over 50 films and 350 television shows, what do you feel is the role that first defined you as an actor? Also, going back to your childhood, tell me about your decision to go into the industry as a professional actor, and what originally inspired you.
Sid Haig: I really don't know what defining oneself as an actor means, but...

The arrival of Bender (Max Ryan), who’s afflicted with the same curse and not so nice, leads to a confrontation that also involves Amy’s father, the local sheriff and others. The supporting cast includes genre vets Sid Haig, Lin Shaye and Billy Drago, along with Chris Mulkey and Maria Conchita Alonso; Alahouzos Studios FX did the creature and other special makeup work. The holiday season is in full swing here at Dread Central, and already we've all got too much to do in too little time, so this edition of the Wrap-Up is just gonna hit the highlights of the week of December 6-12, 2008, with a minimum of editorializing. I'll save it for the end of the year instead.
Something we haven't had a shortage of over the past several days is a look at posters for upcoming releases. Here are my top 3: Silver Cord - Let us know below exactly how far you'd go for love.
Paris by Night of the Living Dead - The setting alone elevates this above your average zombie fare.
Perkins' 14 - It could go either way, but it definitely has potential; I'm optimistic it'll be one of the bright spots of Horrorfest III. Trailers were also abundant, but only two in particular stood out: Dead...

Whew! Finally the elections are over, and no matter which side of the political fence you sit on, you can't deny that history has been made. The week of November 1-7, 2008, was full of highs and lows for me; while I was rejoicing at Obama's resounding success, I couldn't help but feel disheartened by the passage of Prop 8 in California and similar measures in other states. We've come so far; yet, there's still a lot of work to be done to ensure equal rights for all. But I know that's not what we're here to talk about. So let's rehash horror's wins and losses over the past seven days.
One upcoming flick that looks like a frontrunner is 100 Feet. Be sure to check out the new clip that showed up online. I don't know about you, but I get a real The Entity vibe off this thing. I can't wait to see if I'm right.

With the nation mired in an economic crisis rivaled only by the Great Depression, a seemingly endless and increasingly unpopular war -- both of which are taking a devastating toll on the pocketbooks, morale and the very psyche of nearly every American -- and a myriad of domestic troubles ranging from health care and the environment to energy and the erosion of personal freedom, interest in the in the upcoming presidential election, now only days away, is at a virtually unprecedented high.
Never before in the history of the United States has the fate of the nation and indeed the literal survival of the republic seemed to hang so precariously in the balance. Vegas, baby! Even the city's airport is a gaudy slice of neon depravity.
Everywhere you look are slot machines, even in the bathroom. I'm sorry, but I already have my hands around a one-armed bandit. Don't need sirens and bells going off while I'm peeing.
