I like watching corny Christmas movies this time of year. I especially enjoy watching corny Christmas movies that no one has ever heard of. Sometimes there can be some genuinely charming hidden gems within the sea of random free movies on Tubi.
This one ain't it.
I'm 16 minutes in and I can't keep going. This movie feels like it was created by someone who took a single cinematography class at a community college and decided to make a feature length film because "how hard can it be?" To this person's shock, it actually is, in fact, pretty hard. At least, if they want to create something of value.
The beginning of the film is kind of sad, as we see the main character's mother's funeral. The song choice was nice, and I thought maybe the movie would have some authentic, emotional moments. That's about where the good ends. The next few scenes are extremely awkward: bad acting, messy cuts, audio that's out of sync (no joke), music that choppily fades in and out. This was clearly the editor's first gig. Honestly, the whole thing may have been edited on iMovie. Even the film's poster is bad (why are the actors decapitated?).
If you want a cheesy, feel-good Christmas film, there are SO many better options! The fact that this was filmed in Ohio is telling...
