James Mangold, known for exploring various film genres, is back with A Complete Unknown, a Bob Dylan biopic featuring Timothée Chalamet as Dylan. Mangold relates to Dylan’s constant evolution, explaining that he enjoys surprising both himself and audiences by taking on unexpected projects.

He told MovieWeb, ‘I don’t think I change myself. I don’t think Bob reinvents his core soul, but I like to throw myself into things that people don’t expect or that I don’t expect.’

Surprisingly, though, Mangold is returning to the superhero realm with DC’s Swamp Thing. He sees it as a standalone gothic horror film rather than part of a larger franchise. The Santa Barbara International Film Festival will honor Angelina Jolie with the Maltin Modern Master Award at its 40th annual edition on February 5, 2025.

Established in 1995, the Modern Master Award was created to honor filmmakers who have changed the movie industry through significant contributions and impact. The award was renamed the Maltin Modern Master Award in 2015 to honor long-time Sbiff moderator and film critic Leonard Maltin.

Exclusive: NBC’s Chicago Fire has cast KaDee Strickland for a recurring role in Season 13. The new season begins Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. on NBC and next day on Peacock.

She will portray Monica Pascal, the new Fire Chief Dom Pascal’s (Dermot Mulroney) estranged wife. As Deadline reported in July, Mulroney joined the popular firefighter drama as Boden’s (Eamonn Walker) successor following his exit as a series regular in the Season 12 finale.

Two years ago, I thought Angelina Jolie was making an action movie comeback, but now I fear that her movies will no longer be part of the genre. Jolie first established her career in the 1990s, picking up roles in movies like Hackers and Gia. However, her big break came in 1999 when she played Lisa Rowe in Girl, Interrupted. From there, Jolie catapulted to international fame, taking on iconic roles in varying genres, such as Lara Croft, Mrs.

Searchlight Pictures has released the official teaser trailer for A Complete Unknown, starring Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan. The film, set in the influential New York music scene of the early ’60s, will be released in theaters this December.

A Complete Unknown follows 19-year-old Minnesota musician Bob Dylan’s meteoric rise as a folk singer to concert halls and the top of the charts – his songs and mystique becoming a worldwide sensation – culminating in his groundbreaking electric rock and roll performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965.

The movie was directed by James Mangold, whose credits include Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Ford v Ferrari, Logan, The Wolverine, 3:10 to Yuma, Walk the Line, Identity, Girl, Interrupted, and Cop Land.

The film stars Timothée Chalamet, Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Boyd Holbrook, Norbert Leo Butz, Dan Fogler, and Scoot McNairy.

Mangold directed the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jay Cocks.

Cop Land is a solid neo-noir crime thriller featuring a star-studded cast, including Stallone and De Niro. Stallone's breakout role in Rocky paved the way for his action hero status, while De Niro secured his place with iconic dramatic performances in The Godfather Part II and Raging Bull. Despite Cop Land's modest box office success, the film is considered an underrated gem with both lead actors shining in their roles.

Twenty-seven years ago, Cop Land united Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro on screen for the first time. Although it doesn't necessarily innovate on its tried-and-true genres, the neo-noir crime thriller is a solid entry, especially because of its stars. In fact, it's probably Stallone's most underrated movie. Joined by other crime-drama mainstays like Harvey Keitel (Pulp Fiction) and Ray Liotta (Goodfellas), Stallone and De Niro bring a ton of charisma to their respective roles of Sheriff Freddy Heflin and Lieutenant Moe Tilden.

Coming later this month from Archie Comics is the one-shot Chilling Adventures Presents: Truth or Dare, billed as an homage to the late ’90s/early ’00s teen horror wave.

This brand new tale is part of Archie’s “Chilling Adventures Presents” anthology series, dedicated to standalone one-shots with the vibe of Creepshow and Tales from the Crypt.

In Truth or Dare, “When new student Trula Twyst comes to Riverdale, her mysterious and quiet nature doesn’t mix well with the squeaky-clean façade of Riverdale High.
