DVD cover of The sons of Eilaboun - Short version
He choked and his eyes were full of tears, and with a trembling voice he said “I remember it as if it has just happened”, this is the way he ended the story, the story of a nine years old boy from a small village called Eilaboun (Eilabun), in Palestine 1948, the story of my father, when he was a refugee.

It all started on October 30, 1948, when the Israeli army interred his village and massacred 14 young men, one of them was his brother, and some of the others were his cousins, and the villagers were forced to leave their country to Lebanon. This was only the beginning of what he went through, a beginning of a long nightmare. In this nightmare my father witnessed the massacre of about 50 young men, who were convinced to surrender their weapons, and the minute they did, they were murdered in cold blood in front of the people of two villages (their own village, and Eilaboun. A boy of his age was shot while speaking to him about games, the blood of a woman sitting next to him splashed on his face, when the solders shot her hand, the fear he hadÂ…

My father told us those stories many times before, but this time it was different. This time he was very emotional; he made us live his story, he made us feel what he went through, or at least part of it, for the first time I felt that it happened to my father and indirectly it happened to me!

The Sons Of Eilaboun is a documentary film about the massacre, expulsion and return of a small Palestinian village in the Galilee. In the film the Israeli historian Ilan Pappe introduce the history behind the Nakba events. And the Eilaboun (Eilabun) people tell their story.

Very touching and informative. This film is quated in several history book

This is the best film about the Nakba, the expulsions an massacres that committed in Palestine by the Israelis in 1948.

Now there are more and more evidence about the atrocities the Israelis committed in 1948, based on their own documents, as shown in the Sons of Eilaboun, and based on oral history.

Historians are using the film as an oral history source: Contending Nakba-denial: The Role of Oral and Visual Testimonies by Una McGahern The book An Oral History of the Palestinian Nakba and A Jewish case for Palestinian refugee return by Peter Beinart.

The film is really touching and many people that watch it end it with tears in their eyes.

    Biggest piece of hokum ever!

Not only is this movie badly directed, it is just plain and simple propaganda for the Palestinian cause! Additionally, it's all lies, pure and simple bullshit, no Palestinian civilians were shot, only evacuated, just as usual, the Palestinians are thriving on the lack of knowledge of the actual conflict to spread falsehoods and lies...But what can we expect from cold blooded murderers and killers of children! This is a completely fake representation of the war of 1948. In addition, the introduction is done by Ilan Pappe, a person whose writings and testimonies have been disproved countless times and have been proved to be written by him, purely for the sake of propaganda, the advancement of the so called palestinian people, and his own selfish financial gain. Please do not waste your time on this movie, or at least if you do, be aware that it's all lies and deceit!

A very touching, powerful and important documentary!

The Sons of Eilaboun is about the massacre in the northern Galilee village of Eilaboun, a massacre from many that the Israelis committed in the 1948 war. The documentary gives a very important historical introduction by the Israeli historian Illan Pappe, and the people of Eilaboun tell their story. A very touching film, and extremely powerful. The power of The Sons of Eilaboun lies not only in its moving content. It is also a reminder of the 60- year day-by-day resistance to occupation and struggle to return since the events of 1948. I was lucky to see the film in its first screening in Nazareth, The people left the A very touching, powerful and important documentary. A must see!!

    Heart-touching, authentic and eye-opening.

This touching short film allows the audience not just to learn about recent history in the Levant, more precisely the small stretch of land we call Israel / Palestine today, but to actually see it through the eyes of survivors of those times of upheaval, experience it through their sometimes sad, heart-braking, always emotive and authentic stories. a humanitarian disaster. Devoid of any propaganda, witness stories alternate with factual information about the beginnings of the state of Israel, leaving it up to the audience to make up their own minds. Pain and suffering and their historical context captured in a flowing mix of animation, contemporary evidence, witness accounts lest it all be forgotten. And the hope is that films like this can also facilitate a better understanding of the Palestinian side among Israelis.
