Trengellick Rising (2023)
Winter, 1735: Sentenced for a crime without trial, Private Gerren Pascoe is banished to a remote outpost to report on the movements of enemy ships. With only an unhinged superior for company, in a desperate land driven to extremes, the lines between right and wrong soon become blurred - as does the reality of why they are really there.

Trengellick Rising is a Cornish Language short film shot on hand-processed 16mm black & white Kodak film, subtitled in English, using entirely post-sync sound with an Original Score. The film was conceived with the aim to positively contribute to regional efforts to bring back a nearly-forgotten culture and language. Shot, processed and edited in Cornwall, UK.

    a far world

The first virtue - the feeling to see an animation in charcoal. The second - the sound of Cornish language. And the coldness of story .

An officer. His ingrat mission. The conflict against a man of land about imprecise border between good and bad. And the final decision , the noble chavalerism and the precise definition of an isolated community and its basic values.

Fascinating in good measure, it is one of stories defining a presumed lost world in the frame of XVIII century . The result is more a chain of impressions and catch you in almost surprising manner. The bitterness and coldness as basic traits.
