Anyone who makes a full-length movie deserves all the credit in the world for taking on what is often a herculean task, and in this case, it looks like most of the directing team&#39;s family was also involved in making this film a reality. The story is a basic one, with two teams of criminals enlisted to give one of their own - who is a turncoat - to their criminal overlord, the unseen but much talked-about Mr. Mannericks. Then there is a lot of talk about the pros and cons of doing so, and they ultimately wind up facing off against one another in the woods. This is a decent premise for a movie, and the Sewell Brothers do their utmost to keep the action moving. However, as I progressed through this one, I found myself thinking that there was too much &quot;telling&quot; and not enough &quot;showing&quot;, especially in the film&#39;s first act. And that is the difference between stage plays and film scripts, as plays &quot;tell&quot;, and films &quot;show&quot;. New film makers often fall into this trap, and it&#39;s often part of an artist&#39;s growth process. Smart scripting is enormously important with small budget films, because it is the foundation on which a great film is created by the director, actors, and production team. The actors did their best with the material they were given, but streamlining the dialogue would have served Muskie Point well. The second act is also fairly wordy as the two bands of criminals fall into hunting one another in the woods. The sidearms used by the characters use the familiar trope of an unending bullet supply. It would have been far more interesting to have the characters be worried about conserving their ammo throughout the cat-and-mouse of the movie&#39;s midsection. And finally, in the final act, we discover who makes it out alive... or barely alive. Looking forward to seeing what the Sewell Brothers do with their next movie!
