At age 31, Cinematographer Brandon Trost is still considered a youngster in a racket that consists mostly of older men with flowing gray hair and/or unkempt artistic temperaments.
With over 70 titles on IMDb, the young cinematographer has paid more than his share of dues, working on gonzo film sets with gonzo talent (Crank: High Voltage, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance). On each film, or at least once he climbed out of the indie trenches with the Crank sequel, Trost has added his own distinctive look to each film he has touched, regardless of the quality of source material. With the upcoming Townies and This Is the End, Trost is quickly becoming the go-to guy in Hollywood for cream of the crop talent in multiple genres, forging lasting friendships with directors and actors alike. *full disclosure: a Blu-Ray screener of this film was provided by Indican Pictures.
Director/writer: Ric La Monte.
The Tenant is a feature that went straight-to-video August 9th on DVD and Blu-Ray through Indican Pictures. This is a film that stars Michael Berryman, Randy Molnar and Bill Cobbs, in what is a slow burn initially that changes into a predictable film later. The Tenant blends genres from horror to science fiction with some film elements hampering the enjoyment of the film. There are audio issues early that will have some audience members playing with their remotes. Turn the volume up, then down! and again. Also the acting from Ashley Totin is atrociously bad. Laughing during your murder is not the performance you should be after. And horror genre fans will see the late character reveal a mile away. This makes The Tenant hard to recommend.
The plot breaks down as follows: Dr.

The Tenant is the latest horror movie from Indican Pictures and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Writer and director Ric La Monte has delivered a horror fans breath of fresh air. Of course we get a group of kids who are easy victims but this group is hearing impaired which makes for more of an interesting story and we get our movie monster that is very confrontational, he goes right after you and nobody is safe!
The Tenant begins with horror vet Bill Cobbs making an “illegal” overnight delivery to Dr. Newman (Randy Molnar) who is experimenting trying to find a cure for deformities and he’s also using some of his patients bone marrow to do this, one patient in particular is Arthur Delman who is played by horror vet Michael Berryman. Berryman hits a homerun portraying this wacko patient who has a craving for human flesh and a real fear of his doctor.

Michael Berryman takes residence in The Tenant.
The 2010 science-fiction thriller The Tenant, starring horror movie legend Michael Berryman (The Devil’s Rejects) and Bill Cobbs (Get Low), arrived on DVD on Aug. 16 from Indican for a list price of $24.99.
Written and directed by Ric La Monte (Night Terror), the film tells the tale of altruistic doctor Walter Newman (Randy Molnar), who attempts to cure human deformities through DNA splicing, an obsession he works on via experimentation on patients at the Edgewood Asylum.
Newman ignores both his pregnant wife Olivia (Georgia Christ) and a scheming nurse (Sylvia Boykin) with an evil agenda, and everything goes horribly wrong when Olivia delivers their twins — one, a beautiful baby girl; the other, a deformed creature that defies nature.
Twenty-five years later, a group of teens and their driver break down on a dark road and find shelter in an old abandoned building, which just...

In another never-before-published interview, Fangoria.com's Australian correspondent Lee Gambin talks with Michael Berryman, one of the most recognizable stars of the horror genre.
Appearing in over 10 films this year including Smash Cut, Satan Hates You, and The Tenant, Berryman shares the details on how his long and busy career began.
Fangoria: How were you discovered and what was your first break in show business?
Michael Berryman: I was discovered by the famous Warner Bros. Producer George Pal, the man responsible for classics like Journey To The Center Of The Earth, The Time Machine and much more. I worked for him on Doc Savage for 2 days and that is how I became a member of the Screen Actor's Guild.
Fangoria: Milos Foreman’s classic One Flew Over The Cuckoo’S Nest was one of the very first films where you featured as a recognisable force. What was that experience like?...
