In the wake of the earthquake, Kazutaka begins working in a field hospital, not sure how to help the many victims. A newspaper reporter asks him to write a column on the aftermath of the disaster.
The city of Kobe is rapidly rebuilding, yet many victims are being left behind. Kazutaka tries to help these emotionally traumatized patients while at the same time watching his father slowly slide into bankruptcy.
Kazutaka begins work at a newly built hospital where he can treat his patients. A medical diagnose of his own makes him ponder how to proceed. In his remaining time can he heal his own heart?
