Kings had an all-too-brief reign on NBC, canceled after just 13 episodes. At the time, the network executives who had championed the show were getting pushed out, the new guard was unwilling or unsure of how to promote the show properly, and network TV itself was struggling to stay relevant. Ultimately, Kings aired for just six episodes before getting dethroned from its Sunday night time slot and then exiled to summer for the rest of its run. Adding insult to royal injury, Kings isn’t even streaming anywhere these days, a decade and a half later. However, the “complete series” — i.e. the complete first season — is available on DVD. With the show’s 15th anniversary falling on March 15, allow us to make a case for a first (or repeat) viewing. The premise Created by Michael Green — a screenwriter behind Logan, Blade Runner 2049, the recent Hercule Poirot trilogy, and the...

Pixar got to nerd out on fantasy and magic for the first time with “Onward” (March 6), in which two teenage Elf brothers (the McU’s Tom Holland and Chris Pratt) try to resurrect their dad from the dead using a 24-hour magic spell. Think “The Lord of the Rings” meets “Weekend at Bernie’s,” only would-be wizard Ian (Holland), has no idea what to do, and must rely on older brother Barley (Pratt), for instructions about the rules of wizarding and how to leverage their civilization’s lost fantasy world.
First, the Pixar team formed The Fellowship group to create the rules of the magic spells, including the rhyming incantations and how they would visually look. “We had to realize something that’s abstract and personify it,” said Vincent Serritella, the effects supervisor. “We had to converge on the idea of an image of magic, go back to the base...

The good guys always win, right? Well, not always...sometimes even the Avengers have bad days.
This article comes from Den of Geek UK.
This article contains potential Avengers: Endgame spoilers.
Everyone knows that in superhero stories, the heroes always win. But sometimes those victories come at a price, whether that’s the destruction of your base, the loss of a powerful artifact, or the death (or deaths) of a major hero.
Sometimes, even when the heroes win it feels like they lost – and if (if!) you’ve seen Avengers: Endgame, you’ll know what we mean. While this might be rare in the movies, the Avengers have seen far more ups and downs in the comics. Here are five times the Avengers lost...

Did DeMarcus Ware make a much needed comeback on “Dancing with the Stars” during Disney Night? He began the season with the top judges’ score in week one, but since then his results have been erratic, culminating on Trios Night when he got his lowest score so far (22 out of 30), which landed him fourth from the bottom of the leaderboard. Moving back up would be a herculean feat, so it was lucky that his Disney routine had him literally playing Hercules.
Ware and his pro partner Lindsay Arnold performed a Charleston to “A Star is Born” from the 1997 animated musical “Hercules.” And Arnold wasn’t going to let all that strength go to waste. She choreographed a number for the six-foot-four, 258-pound Super Bowl champ full of high-flying lifts, and at one point he even spun her around in the air like a windmill. A few more performances like this...

Supergirl season 4 was set to add Star Trek: The Next Generation legend Brent Spiner to its line-up in the important recurring role of the Vice President of the United States. Unfortunately, though, Spiner’s had to step back from the part due to a family issue. And instead of rewriting scripts until the actor may become available again, Supergirl‘s production team has decided to just recast the role completely.
In place of Spiner, they’ve gone for another sci-fi icon from the 1990s. Bruce Boxleitner, most known for his role in Babylon 5, will be stepping into Spiner’s shoes to play Vice President Baker. Presumably, the character description released online a few weeks ago is still relevant, in which case Baker is set to be “adept and politically minded,” and “makes for an unlikely leader, but steps up in a big way when his country needs him most.

Comedian and voice actor Bobcat Goldthwait doesn’t want Disney to be seen as “hypocritical,” so he suggested the company remove his voice from an upcoming Disneyland attraction in response to “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn’s firing.
Goldthwait, who voiced the villain Pain in Disney’s 1997 animated film “Hercules,” wrote in an Instagram post on Monday that he’s also made jokes in the past that he’s embarrassed by, so Disney should disassociate with him as well and remove him from “World of Color – Villainous” — a not-yet-announced version of its World of Color attraction.

It was nearly an upset at the weekend box office, but Warner Bros. and New Line's Rampage was able to hold off a strong second weekend from Paramount's hit horror/thriller A Quiet Place to take the weekend's #1 spot. But that doesn't discount the fact A Quiet Place is less than $400k shy of topping $100 million domestically after just ten days in release. Additionally, Blumhouse's Truth or Dare delivered a solid, third place debut. With an estimated $34.5 million, Warner Bros. and New Line's Rampage delivered a first place finish from 4,101 theaters. Looking at some of the comps we used heading into the weekend, this is a bit ahead of the $31.7 million opening for Tom Cruise's The Mummy last year, which went on to gross just over $80 million and an improvement over Dwayne Johnson's Hercules, which opened with $29.8 million in 2014 and grossed just over $72 million domestically. Looking ahead,...

However, while we all know who characters like Captain America, Spider-Man, and The Hulk are from our childhoods, there are a lot of comic books out there you probably haven’t heard of. The question is, do you know which of your favourites movies are based on them?

After leading Sony's Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which just became the studio's highest grossing domestic release of all-time, Dwayne Johnson arrives with his latest offering, starring in this weekend's release of Warner Bros. and New Line's Rampage. At the same time Blumhouse will debut its latest micro-budgeted thriller Truth or Dare, which will have its hands full competing for audience attention with last weekend's box office champ A Quiet Place, which looks to follow up its stellar debut last weekend with a strong sophomore effort. Debuting in over 4,100 theaters, Rampage is looking to stomp the weekend box office, though expectations aren't quite as high as one might think for a Dwayne Johnson-led effort, especially debuting in this many theaters. Tracking heading into the weekend is expecting a $35-40 million debut, but using several comps we're having a hard time seeing it reach much higher than $35 million. Using films such as The Mummy,...

The history of the “Untitled Milli Vanilli Movie” has been almost as much of a roller coaster ride as the duo’s infamous career. The latest roadblock for the biopic, which dates back to a 2007 screenplay by fan Jeff Nathanson, who wanted to direct the film himself, was the demise of Brett Ratner’s $450 million co-financing deal with Warner Bros. for his RatPac Entertainment, which the studio officially announced it wouldn’t renew on April 10. The company was responsible for some of the studio’s biggest hits last year, including “Wonder Woman,” “It,” “Dunkirk” and “The Lego Batman Movie.”
Ratner was set to take the director’s chair for the proposed $20-30 million production, helming his first project since 2014’s “Hercules.” Shooting was planned for both Berlin and Los Angeles, but once Ratner became the subject of sexual harassment accusations late last year, the momentum stopped.

'Hercules' star Kevin Sorbo's says he's being silenced and he suspects it's all being done for a shameless publicity stunt. ThunderCon, a comic convention in Thunder Bay, Canada, recently rescinded Kevin's invitation for the October event. It was pretty odd because organizers had Just announced he was attending. One of the Disney Renaissance’s key figures is stepping down. John Musker, who’s responsible for such classics as “Aladdin” and “The Little Mermaid,” has announced his retirement after a 41-year tenure. Musker joined the company in 1977 and, alongside creative partner, also co-wrote and -directed “The Great Mouse Detective,” “Hercules,” “Treasure Planet,” “The Princess and the Frog,” and “Moana.”
A retirement party was held for him yesterday, according to the Cartoon Brew; that he’s far from a household name despite several of his creations attaining that status speaks to the unique plight of animation directors. Musker received two Academy Award nominations in the Best Animated Feature category, though neither “Moana” nor “The Princess and the Frog” won the prize. Had the award (which was introduced in 2001) existed earlier, it’s difficult to imagine “The Little Mermaid” and “Aladdin” not winning it.

Disney movies have been watched so many times over the years viewers have nothing else to do but analyze every plot point, Easter Egg, and little moment. This has resulted in numerous film theories and some crazy film connections for animated movies like Toy Story, Aladdin, Rugrats, Hercules, and The Little Mermaid. As theories pick up steam, people start to believe them and call them credible. The only way to confirm them is to go directly to the source and in this case, it’s the animated movie writers. Multiple writers have debunked popular Disney and other animated movie theories. Their explanations can showcase exactly what happened, or in some cases leave things really vague.

“Look at me,” Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson orders in the new Hercules trailer. (Okay!) “Do I look afraid?” Despite encountering a trap full of angry, tattooed warriors, no; no, he does not look afraid.
Hercules, based on the graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars, is directed by Brett Ratner and intended to be a dark, action-packed account of Hercules’s battle to take down a warlord. So basically, this will be nothing like Disney’s version (bummer).
Johnson plays the fearless Hercules with Ian McShane, John Hurt, Joseph Fiennes, and Ingrid Bolsø Berdal also starring. Hercules is expected to hit theaters in July.

Could timing be everything for dueling movies about the muscle-bound god?
Hollywood's upcoming battle of the Hercules -- to mix warrior legends for a moment -- is a decidedly David versus Goliath affair.
Now comes news that the slighter of these two muscle-bound screen gods (in budget, at least) might have a crucial advantage, as Summit has acquired Hercules: The Legend Begins and slated it for a February release.
The underdog stars Twilight beefcake Kellan Lutz and was directed by Renny Harlin, who hasn't had a hit since the 1990s when he peaked with action hits like Die Hard 2 and The Long Kiss Goodnight. It stands in the immense shadow of Hercules: The Thracian Wars, a graphic novel adaptation from director Brett Ratner starring proven box office superstar Dwayne Johnson, for which MGM and Paramount are sharing a $100 million-plus price tag.

Two brand new photos reveal the two sides of Dwayne Johnson. One finds him wearing a tight shirt with a bald head, while the other finds him wearing no shirt with a lion on his head. The Rock tweeted a two-for-one photo from a pair of upcoming films, "Hercules: The Thracian Wars" and "Fast & Furious 7." They will make you feel less manly. It's the first good look we've had of Johnson as the Mythological man-god Hercules, and he certainly looks the part as he guides a chariot while decked out in a headdress made from a lion. Fast & Furious 7: Dwayne Johnson has graced his fans with one more warrior image from Hercules: The Thracian Wars, which recently wrapped production. The original writer, Dan McDermott, has been brought back on the project for a...

Dwayne Johnson has unveiled another new image from the set of Hercules: The Thracian Wars online, giving us a good look at the leading man in character. The new image shows Johnson in rough and rushed mode, sporting a full beard and a rather fetching lionskin fleece. Dwyane Johnson has released a new photo of himself as Hercules, giving us our first real look at the character in Hercules: The Thracian Wars. Everything that's been released up until this point has been very teasing. I'll admit that he looks like a badass in the photo, but it doesn't change the fact that Brett Ratner directed the movie. The image came with the following caption:
"Intense 6 months of Hercules to now Hobbs (Fast & Furious). Shooting starts now."
The movie also stars Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Joseph Fiennes, Peter Mullan, John Hurt, Rebecca Ferguson, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Aksel Hennie, Reece Ritchie, and Tobias Santelmann. It's set to be released on July 25th, 2014. What do you think of Johnson's look?

Which Rock do you like the best-- the one driving a chariot into certain battle on the set of Hercules: The Thracian Wars, or the one standing in front of the wreck of a car he probably tore apart with his bare hands on the set of Fast & Furious 7. It's a trick question, of course. Picking your favorite Rock is like picking a favorite ice cream flavor-- it varies based on the day and your mood, and what variety of ass-kicking you want to see handed to which variety of villain. As unlikely as it is that a Samoan ex-wrestler has become the most all-purpose movie star on the planet, it's true-- so long as there's an opportunity for him to throw a punch or at least flex a muscle, The Rock is pretty much a one-size-fits-all proposition. And because nearly everything he's done in the last few years has...

Never far from Twitter these days, Dwayne Johnson is a man who enjoys staying in touch with his fans. Right now, he’s transitioning from one big project to another as, with Brett Ratner’s Hercules: The Thracian Wars wrapped, he’s back in the Us and into the funderwear for Fast And Furious 7.During his time on Hercules, he’s been sharing pics of the set and little looks at his character, but hasn’t shown his face until now. He stars in the film alongside the likes of Joseph Fiennes, John Hurt, Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Peter Mullan and Aksel Hennie. The Rock has finished laying the smack down in ancient Greece. Filming has concluded on Hercules: the Thracian Wars. Some new behind-the-scenes images have been released.
There was quite a bit of talk about Hercules at NY Comic-Con as a trailer was released for an upcoming Hercules film called Hercules: the Legend Begins, starring Twilight actor Kellan Lutz. However, the previews of that film seem to be getting a lukewarm reaction. Still, Hercules fans have something else to look forward to. Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson is bringing a larger and more muscular version of the legendary Greek hero to the screen in Hercules: the Thracian Wars.
Based on the graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars by Steve Moore and Admira Wijaya, the film is directed by Brett Ratner. Production on the film has been well-documented by the Rock himself, who has been sharing set photos from the movie with over 5 million followers on Twitter.

New York Comic Con brought with it a first look at a trailer for Hercules: The Legend Begins, an origin story for the Greek demigod that stars Twilight‘s Kellan Lutz in the lead role, and while it featured a few cool-looking action shots a lot of Screen Rant readers were underwhelmed by by what they saw. If you weren’t impressed with that other “Hercules” movie starring the kid from “Twilight”, then maybe you’ll be a little more with Dwayne Johnson’s version of “Hercules”, aka “Hercules: The Thracian Wars”.
