I know there are fans of this film, but is not my case. Even when I saw FX directly from Videocopilot tutorials for AE that I could make much better than the film, there is no storyline in this movie. I found it very bored and some characters don't have any personality. I think that director/writer Brian A. Metcalf needs some lessons of how to make a sci-fi movie like a pro and not like an amateur project of college, full of shaking, bad movement displacement, bad lightning and so on.
Another bad point of this movie is that a lot of explanations are missed. Come on!! Mr. Director, my imagination doesn't work as yours!. Maybe such answers are still flying in his head.
Nonsense ending with guess what BAD ACTORS TOO!!. Thomas Ian Nicholas .. American Pie times are over... so as you are . I wish you better luck in your next film.

An Oscar should be given ... to whoever can sit through this movie.
Seriously, some of the worst acting I have ever seen. I do not know how this movie could have been worse, the sound and scene editing was off and the story was 1) not backed up, 2) ruined by the distractingly bad acting, and 3) made worse by the thought of attempting to make you care about the actors.
I've seen over 1300 movies, this one makes me wish I was blind. Do not even attempt to give it a chance.
I'll put it plainly, if you were going to make a drinking game out of the amount of "OMG this is horrible" moments ... you would be wasted at the 20 minute mark.

Brian A. Metcalf has in under 90 minutes managed to use every cliché from classic the horror and fantasy movies and yet manages to go against everything that makes up a compelling movie for any fan of the genre.
The script, to begin with, is a horrible mess starting off with a narrative ego within a flashback of many making parts of the story over explicit whilst absolutely impossible to engage in. The fact is that it's very hard to grasp (or care) what story line is important and which are less so until the far to drawn-out ending.
The characters act inconsistently all over and the very same threats that oppose them are as often deadly in one scene to be ridiculously easy to defeat in the next.
The scenography and the special effects are flat and ugly and the fighting scenes (there's A LOT of them) mainly consist of monsters running straight into swords.
I think that Metcalf was aiming for a mix of "The Lord of the Rings" and "Night of the Living Dead" but ended up with Uwe Boll's "Dungeons and Dragons" mixing with "Resident Evil" (the first of the video games, if you remember the script and acting in that).
It made me sad to see Brad Dourif wading around in this crap and not even he manages to be free of its stench.

Right what would you get if you had a £10 budget, rubbish CGI people, people that have never stepped foot in an acting class, a director out of there senses and production who are apparently drunk? The simple answer is this film. No one can give me back the time this film has robbed me of. It is certainly the worst film i have ever watched, and i have watched many. I love films from many different genres, but I'm always up for anything with action, occult and horror references. This film however bobbles all over the place, between really awful acting, terrible effects and a rambling strange and often incomprehensible story. People will say this is a B movie but really it can't even merit that! the characters are so wooden i think they came pre varnished. All you are really left with is sitting there thinking, how the hell did i fall into the trap of paying to watch that? Trust me don't pay to watch it, don't even watch it when its available for free, there are many more worth while things to do with your time like counting dust particles or individually plucking the hairs from your toes!

I was duped into watching this film by some of the good reviews I read. They are false. I was expecting a 'made for cable' 2nd rate quality movie. This thing is 4th rate. The Pro's are that it is in English and does not require subtitles. The background music is tolerable. The credits were displayed in an attractive font. The actors appear to know their lines, and the crew members do not walk into the scenes.
Aside from that, this film is about as bad as you can get without being so bad that it is funny in an ironic way.
Don't waste your time. Do not believe any reviews over 2 stars. I wish I knew of something equally bad to compare it to, but I cannot remember the last time I saw something this bad.

I really struggled to watch this movie from start to finish as it was nothing more than cliché dancing over clichés and, matched only with the continuous bad hammy acting.
Might be great for the kids or 1, but I doubt it as I'm convinced they have at least a modicum of sophistication.
The concept, brilliant. I cannot not fault, the acting and choreography I can.
If I could get away with returning my DVD and claim my refund I would. Its that dire. I only paid £7.00 and even that was way to much.
I would like to say it belongs within the B movie rank and file, but alas, its not even that good.
There... I think I've given a clear picture of not liking the movie!

I watched this movie in hope i would spend a pleasant 1 hour and a half of my Sunday...i regret my decision. The effects wore poor, like the movie was made in some 3rd world country.the story is ambiguous you don't get many details about the past of the characters, and I had the feeling that even the actors didn't put much work into this movie. The idea however was pretty good and they could've made more from that if it had more work put into it
In conclusion everything is bad about this movie and I wrote this review in hope that nobody has to go trough the same 1 hour and a half of agonizing pain that i did.

This has got to be the worst, most disconnected, poorly edited and shockingly acted piece of cinema I have ever had the misfortune to stumble across. There may have been a plot-line but it was lost somewhere in the jarring transitions, poorly timed music and generally bad direction. I appreciate B-grade and I understand special effects on a budget but there is no excuse for this sort of thing outside high school drama class and YouTube. Do not go near this unless your purpose is to make out with the person you see it with and you don't want to miss anything worth watching. Even then it probably won't make for decent background noise.

What can I say, its a low budget fantasy horror flick... If you have nothing better to do on a Saturday afternoon and have some time to kill, and like watching cheesy movies, this ones right up your ally. Hero kid meets girl who attempts to save the day. I immediately noticed Hallee Hirsh, who played Dr. Greens daughter on ER. I always thought she had potential, but she was rather numb throughout the film. the only saving grace would be the always talented and always creepy Brad Dorif(wormtongue from LOTR), who plays the usual sinister villain. all I can add is I've seen worse. most people will probably hate it, but the true fans of cinema must always take the good with the bad!

I COMPLETELY agree with the previous critique. Count 'em T-W-O cheesy scenes (in the first 8-9 minutes, no less) where one person suddenly places their hand on another person's shoulder for an intended audience scare. All I could do was shake my head in disbelief.
This crock is beyond bad, and not in an interesting yuk-yuk, poke-poke, wink-wink Ed Wood sort of way. The acting is abysmal. I found myself hoping the entire cast would be caught and eaten by the zombies (or whatever those beings were near the beginning). Just an utter waste of time. (1 out of 10 is a gross overrating. Oh, and NO, I did not watch the whole thing! I feel cheated out of 25 minutes of my life anyhow, though.)

But good effort on the directing....and acting just the story plot was like...'huh and more huh'

...this would be perfect MST3K fodder if that show was still on the air. Hallee should have turned to porn instead of making this career move, it would be less embarrassing. The special effects are hilarious: they look like they're filmed through water, blurred to cover any mishaps. One chase scene looked like a Scooby Doo cartoon. Watch the things in the filler scenes where the characters really have nothing to do but stare or fidget until the director finally, mercifully pulls his camera away. Why the heck does the hero hold his sword backward through the entire thing? Is that the equivalent of holding a pistol sideways? Anyway, the acting is awkward and wooden, and the dialog could have been written by a ten-year-old. Utter dreck.
