Each couple/household's story was filmed during three-day blocks over 14-15 days.
Nicolette Robinson and Lesilie Odom Jr. were unsure about the show due to it filming in the middle of the Black Lives Matter movement. In an interview, Robinson explained that they were nervous to be making something that was mostly focused on the positive side of the time, given everything they were going through in their own household.
Actors did their own hair and makeup, wore their own clothes, and handled their own props.
