On Saturday, April 5, 2008, Johns Hopkins performed what is believed to be the first six-way donor kidney swap surgery, six months before this episode aired. Nine surgical teams used six operating rooms for the 10 hour surgeries. Like this episode, there was one donor who was not a recipient nor had any family involved, to complete the swap.

Goofs
Christina asks if she can keep one of the disease kidneys, that wouldn't be possible for her to do. When they do a kidney transplant, the diseased kidneys are not removed. The new kidney is placed in the lower abdomen and unless the native kidneys are causing a problem, such as kidney cancer or polycystic disease, the kidney stay in the back.
