The film's title pays homage to Robert Enrico's 1961 short-film-turned-Twilight-Zone episode, "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge."
The film was shot in the gentrifying Arverne (pronounced AHR-vern) neighborhood of the Rockaways in Queens, New York City.
"An Occurrence at Arverne" premiered online as a Vimeo Staff Pick Premiere in August 2020, the same week it premiered at the Bentonville Film Festival. It went on to play 40+ film festivals and was featured on Short of the Week, Directors Notes, Directors Library, and Film Shortage.
The film was written in late 2018, shot in early 2019, and post-production was finished a week before covid lockdown in New York City in March 2020.
