Epic Pictures Group has a special season treat for horror fans this fall: a four-disc Collector’s Edition Blu-ray / DVD release of their Tales of Halloween anthology film.

With Halloween in the air, we thought it would be fun to reach out to the horror genre's biggest and brightest stars - both legends in the industry and up-and-coming superstars - to ask them two quick questions: What's your biggest fear, and what's your favorite scary movie? Read on for the results!

Feeling parched for some horror comedy? Well then, pull up a chair and get ready for all sorts of beverage-induced hilarity with Dread Central’s own Andrew Kasch’s short film Thirsty, which we are proud to debut below as part of our Indie Horror Month celebration this March.

Based on the short story of the same name from cult horror author Joe Knetter, Thirsty stars Joe Lynch ("Holliston", director of Wrong Turn 2), Tiffany Shepis (The Violent Kind), and Michael Bailey Smith (The Hills Have Eyes) along with several voice cameos from various genre icons and filmmakers including eternal badass Sid Haig.

Today, co-directors John Skipp and Andrew Kasch announced their full-time filmmaking partnership with a 15-second trailer for the short Bizarro horror/comedy Stay At Home Dad. With both screenplay and soundtrack by Cody Goodfellow, the insane premise “starts with a guy with giant boobs, nursing his baby and crying a lot. Then it gets weird from there.”

For the second week of our month-long Indie Horror Month celebration, Dread Central decided to amp up the awesome and debut two fantastic short films on March 14th and 16th.

On Wednesday DC will present the hilarious short film Thirsty, which was directed by Dread's own Andrew Kasch and stars Joe Lynch, Tiffany Shepis and Michael Bailey Smith.

Then on Friday Dread will be hosting the zombie comedy short Summer of the Zombies, written and directed by Eddie Beasley and Ashleigh Nichols and starring Casey Gates and Barak Hardley; the short film will also accompany our exclusive chat with the indie filmmaking couple.

Joe Knetter is not only a writer in the indie horror genre but he's a published author, a stunt bot and does a little acting on the side.  He has several projects in the works including one werewolf film we've been following  for quite some time. 2010 has been a little light on the horror scene thus far, but 2011 is shaping up quite nicely. Dead of Night Films just sent out a press release for its upcoming film Hallow Pointe, which features a genre heavy cast (including myself) and some teaser art! Dig it!

Shoreline Entertainment has recently signed three films by notorious low budget filmmaker Creep Creepersin, just in time for Afm.

First up is Orgy of Blood, an erotic vampire film starring Domiziano Arcangeli, who is also executive producer. The film, also starring Chandler Maness ("Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency"), Randal Malone (Curse of Lizzie Borden), Jeff Dylan Graham (Psychosomatika), and a slew of horror genre favorites, wrapped in May. Orgy of Blood was written and directed by Creep Creepersin and produced by Aine Leicht and Nikki Wall.

Shoreline also snapped up two more Creepersin films for release as a Grindhouse-style double feature: The Creep Creepersin Double Featuresin. Comprised of Vaginal Holocaust and Caged Lesbos a-Go-Go, the double feature is a heavy throwback to 60’s and 70’s exploitation films.

The 2009 Shriekfest Film Festival has released an update to its recently announced list of film and screenplay finalists; this time, it's a rundown of some of the talent scheduled to be involved in the event in order to represent their films.

The festival's lineup includes such talent as Jeffrey Combs in "Dark House", Ving Rhames in "Evil Angel", Dameon Clarke and Matthew Gray Gubler in "How to Be a Serial Killer", Dean Cain in "Maneater", John Carpenter, George A. Romero, Joe Dante, and Roger Corman in "Nightmares in Red, White, and Blue", Billy Zane in "Surviving Evil", and Tiffany Shepis in "Thirsty".

The 2009 Shriekfest Film Festival is scheduled for October 1st-4th, and the current roster includes 40 films and 39 screenplay finalists.

If you weren't in Pittsburgh this past weekend, you missed one helluva good show. In fact, now that the alcohol has worn off, I find myself inundated with cool swag, great (if fuzzy) memories, and lots to write about. So here's how it all went down from September 18th-20th, 2009.

Friday we arrived just in time for the start of the movie Prometheus Triumphant and the first author panel, which featured Jonathan Maberry, James Melzer, and Rob Fox. Following them, Joe Knetter discussed the short film "Thirsty" based on his short story of the same name while Prey for the Beast showed in the movie room and authors David Dunwoody, Steven North, Kim Paffenroth, and Paul McConnel read from and discussed their newest books. At around 8pm, when the last of the straggling guests arrived, the cast of Pittsburg's It's Alive! appeared for their panel and, after a few moments of frozen posing,...

It's time to see if your shorts and features made the cut - Shriekfest 2009, which runs October 1st-4th, 2009, has released the titles of those films that have made its 2009 Finalists list.

The judges must be busy with the long list of titles that have made it thus far. Included among them is a short film from some of our very own, "Thirsty", directed by Andrew Kasch, written by Joe Knetter, screenplay by David Rosiak, shot by Buz Wallick, and starring Joe Lynch and Tiffany Shepis. I've seen the film and it's a riot; let's hope the judges agree!

While there’s been no shortage of horror festivals in recent years, it’s cool to see another one taking shape, this one in Seattle, Wa. If you’re in the area, or you’re up for a road trip, this one looks like it’s going to be worth checking out!

The Maelstrom International Fantastic Film Festival (Mifff from here on out!) is kicking off this weekend, showcasing several independent and international films from our beloved horror genre. Filmmaker, Editor, and Dread Central staffer Andrew Kasch just hit Fango with the news that his short film, Thirsty will be making it's debut at the 13th Annual Rhode Island International Film Festival this Friday, August 7th.

Thirsty is a 15-minute horror/comedy directed by Kasch from a screenplay by David Rosiak (Shark Swarm, Ring Of Death), based on a story by cult scribe Joe Knetter (Zombie Bukkake). Joe Lynch (director of Wrong Turn 2), Tiffany Shepis (Night Of The Demons), and Michael Bailey Smith (The Hills Have Eyes) star.

Fango got word from producer Linda Craddock about several upcoming genre titles she’s involved with. The films run the gamut from slasher stories to paranormal chillers to flesheaters.

On two of the films, Craddock is a producer. Projections, written and to be directed by Jose Zambrano (Delivery) Cassella, focuses on Laura Carpenter, who, after witnessing the murders of her mother and sister, has grown into a successful artist and left her dark past behind. Laura begins having strange dreams, however, which she soon finds out are astral projections in which she is transported to other locations. Laura soon realizes she is visiting the grisly crime scenes of a serial killer—and the maniac has become aware of her presence. Melissa Gruver and Randy Molnar are also producers on this one.
