Subtle and sweet. This was beautifully done and it was a gentle reminder that we are in this together.
All of us are alone more often now, even those that are (un)lucky enough to be "essential". Regardless of the limited time you do get to leave your home, it's a brief respite from the incredibly isolating experience that is this quarantine.
Don't Despair is a calm, quiet, and incredibly moving short film that examines one man's journey through this isolation as he struggles with loneliness, depression, and his own sobriety. While his story is unique, it also speaks directly to the viewer's own unique experiences this year. In the end, it reminds us all that we are not alone, no matter how hard it is to see or feel it, and the dawn is coming. Don't Despair reminds us to hold on to hope and stay true to ourselves, even when it feels like everything that is you has been locked away for months.
After all, penicillin at one point was just a mold, just floating through the air. Maybe the cure is too.

Yes. I wrote this film. So, I'm not exactly an objective viewer.
That being said, anytime a screenwriter hands off a script, their involvement is done, and they have no idea what the final film will look like. It's a complete leap of faith.
And this film proves that sometimes that faith is rewarded.
I'm so proud to have contributed to such a lovely film. It's beautifully shot, wonderfully acted, and brilliantly directed.
Not bad for an eleven minute film where none of the actors ever actually appear in the same location as each other. Rachel and Josh pulled it off beautifully.

This is a great little short that cuts right to the heart of things. A message as important in today's world as it will be in the future. Well acted and well written. Certainly worth a watch.
