Anyone who knows how SEALs operate would see many things wrong with this movie. About half way through it just became unbearable. I was willing to let the current ARMY uniforms that were not even available back in 91 slip by. Seal teams are comprised of more than 5 people and when one is injured, someone is there to pick up the slack. They don't recruit from the outside and just magical appoint that person as a NAVY SEAL on the deck of an aircraft carrier. the writer of this movie should have known his audience would not be gullible little kids. Second, a Chief is not called sir, or commander, or captain, or any thing other than Chief. that is just plain NAVY tradition. he is not instantly promoted to Master Chief, then back to Chief. They could have at least learned the rank structure. Also, they don't use Desert eagles that are really BB guns(you can tell because it doesn't "blow back". HALO jumps are not from helicopters, performed with gas masks, you need oxygen. and the FINAL STRAW was the communication equipment had RADIOSHACK on it. COME ON!!!!

Let me start off by saying I hate writing reviews like this. I went into this movie knowing it was something of a lower budget "indie" flick supposedly based on a true story, but bought a new copy off the internet as soon as it came out anyways. I'd seen a trailer of it on-line, and it looked pretty decent. What my wife and I got was not only the worst SEAL movie ever, but just a flat out BAD MOVIE.
Without going into too much detail or spoiling anything, this movie deals with the first gulf war back in 1991. There are so many continuity errors in this film, I don't know where to begin. For example, it shows regular Army soldiers wearing new "ACU" cameo pattern uniforms that they didn't even have back then. There was also another time when some of the SEALs are putting some of their weapons into a bag. You could see the orange tip of one of the rifles, indicating it was actually a plastic air soft rifle. There's simply too many things to list.
I thought the acting was pretty bad, not the worst, but it wasn't that great. I don't think the Naval Special Warfare community was represented very well by this film. I'm in the military so maybe I'm more critical of this movie than others. Be that as it may, I don't think the writers or directors even contacted a real SEAL (or anyone in any branch of any military) at any point during the making of this film. I'm not familiar with the "true" events this movie is based on, but I would highly suggest reading a book about it (if available) instead of watching this movie.
During the film, I kept hearing my wife "sigh," indicating her discontent with the movie. She'd say, "I'm trying to stay focused on the story, but...(sigh)." I totally agree with her. The movie jumped around a lot and was loaded with stock footage of fighter jets, bad special effects, and terrible continuity.
If you're a die-hard SEAL movie guy like me, you'll probably watch this movie despite my searing review. But you've been warned! If I could get 90 minutes of my life back, I would love to. I usually get a little enjoyment out of bad movies, but this was beyond terrible, and didn't even have that "funny" enjoyable aspect that many bad movies have. Keep in mind, this review is based on THE MOVIE, not the actual events or the guys that were involved in them.
Bottom line: Save yourself the time and skip this movie. Seriously. I don't think you can comprehend how bad it is until you actually see it. Watch at your own risk!

. . . should drop to bended knees with their collective faces in the dirt and BEG Seal Team VI for forgiveness. IT. IS. THAT. BAD.
The story (and I take literary license for calling it a story) is somehow connected to Operation Desert Shield, although the connection is tenuous at best. Basically, it's drop behind enemy lines (by HALO jump from a C-130 AFTER going aloft in a helo?) shoot at Islamists, get shot at by Islamists, and use a jumpy camera to give that "intensity of action" effect.
Nevermind that the uniforms are wrong, the weapons are wrong, and the air support comes from stock footage rather than real aircraft.
Then, there's the 10 minute "patriotic sermon" at the end. I haven't heard a diatribe like that since the third "Billy Jack" movie.
The same guy was director, writer, producer, sound department, editorial department and underwater cameraman. He has only one credit on IMDb. This film shows why.
If this is the only thing on TV, go sort your sock drawer. It will be infinitely more satisfying.

i just finished watching this film and and was so moved i had to write a review it is one of the worst films i have ever seen i would advise someone not to bother i know with low budget films you got to expect it not to be on the level of some of the big budget films but this was truly terrible action scenes were boring and it made no sense why would you send a seal team in when you can use a stealth bomber it was complete rubbish...I'm guessing this is going to start a trend of films that are low budget and badly made like with the delta film series that carried on from delta force 1 and 2 ... ..... ......... ............ ........ ..... ..... ...... ..................... ..

I am currently working in Afghanistan. I just watched this big steaming pile of a film on AFN. I was in the USAF back in the 80's and even I could see everything that was wrong militarily w/ this Navy film. The film makers couldn't find ANYONE to ask simple military questions? This film had sooo much potential, but fell soooo flat. The above reviews do a good job of listing the flaws in this film. I just hope that the filmmaker reads these reviews and learns from them for all future endeavors. HINT: When you use stock footage of an F-18 bringing in your airstrike, keep using F-18 footage. Do not jump between F-14s, A-10s, and F-22s.
I registered just for this film to call it a turd! Acting is bad,The uniforms are not even right. I can't believe I spent a dollar to rent this wreck of a movie. No patriotism in this movie at all. Just slap a ST6 name on it to make a dollar or two. Rent Act of Valor instead. I really dislike this movie. Rent an Xbox Game instead. Go play airsoft or paintball if you want a rush. Even rent 1991's Navy SEALS with Charlie Sheen instead of this. Ishtar is even a better movie. Wanna see SEALs see Tears of the Sun or Act of Valor. OMG ACU's in 1991? Train wreck on an epic scale. I really think that the company was just trying to jump on the bandwagon after the Bin Laden raid for a quick dollar using the ST6 (DEVGRU) name. How low can you go? Do not rent this movie.

listen people do your self a favour and avoid watching this movie. the guns are without and triggers , the flashes and sparks are all computer generated , the explosions are all fake, the cut scenes are all copied from other ones and it has unnecessary things e.g they keep on showing the same building getting bombarded over and over again. there are pointless scenes and so unrealistic. the directors really did have a tight budget. so if you want to see this movie you might as well search it up in a search engine and watch it online. there is no point in buying dis movie or even renting it. i admit the acting was fairly good but there was no realism at all, as in one seen they had to save a kid from dying because he got shot. so obviously the seals would have medical packs or something because its obvious who would go into combat fully prepared and without field dressings, they know they are dealing with guns someone is bound to get shot. so if it was a real life situation they would've been fully prepared
We have all seen some pretty awful low budget movies, but this one takes it. The acting is horrendous, there are blatant cases where a main character is talking to a secondary character and the second persons voice is clearly added in post.
The video quality is awful, but particularly in any action scene of planes, in fact it looked so bad I was concerned that my video card was failing.
Uniforms used in the movie were not period correct, pistols that don't blow back to eject a cartridge, incorrect titles for personnel, and just plain lack of attention to detail. I didn't watch this anticipating a masterpiece, but this was so bad I have to assume it was done by someone who just wanted to throw money away so say that they were "movie producers" to coked up attractive women on a boat off the coast of Florida.
In closing, I watched this movie for free through Amazon, and I was still annoyed. If I paid 10 bucks to see this at the theater when it first came out, I'd probably never have gone to another theater movie in my life.

The answers to this are a simple Google search away. You couldn't even take the time to look it up? SERIOUSLY. Twenty minutes into the show this is what I noticed
1. He's wearing Chief Petty Officer insignias on his collar, but the politician refers to him as Commander.
2. That's not a proper uniform shirt that's a work shirt.
3. Ribbons are aligned centered and cover the flap of his pocket.
4. The wings belong on the pocket flap BELOW the ribbons.
5. His belt wraps all the way around to his side!!!!
6. The planes are wrong for the time frame.
7. He's not wearing a name tag above his right pocket.
8. That shirt looks as if it was pulled out of the wrapping that morning. A Chief Petty Office working at the Whitehouse would be starched and their uniform in perfect order.
9. The Department of Homeland Security didn't exist yet.
and number 10: The Seals are wearing flight suites!! Flight suites devoid of any rank or military designation. Oh, and one of the guys is sporting a US Marines uniform cap, which is bad enough, but he's also wearing it on the flight line. Come on people. It doesn't matter if you hate the government and the military, these men and women are doing a dangerous and difficult job FOR YOU.
Much can be said about this movie. One gentlemen from England really ripped this movie. I'd like to know if he's served as has Prince William and Prince Harry. If he's served has he served in the SAS Britains version of Special Operations.
In this country we have Seal Team Six, Army Rangers, Delta Force, Green Berets or Special Forces, the 82nd Air Borne, and Marine Recon. So when someone criticizes this elements they better have their facts straight.
With regards to the specifics of this movie most seal teams are comprised of 12 individuals and are led by a Leutenant not a Master Chief Petty Officer. Each seal team member can usually perform more than one task; that is his own and the one above him and the below him in case one goes down. I'm sure budget constraints prevented a full team from being fielded. Also, why Admiral Timmons was a Vice Admiral (3 stars) and not a full Admiral (4 stars) was a mystery to me. However the movie was very enjoyable. I recommend it for all even though like many war movies the language is rough.

SEAL Team VI (a.k.a. Navy SEAL Team) follows the titular Special Forces soldiers in the hostile environment of the Persian Gulf in 1991, as Operation Desert Shield gives way to Operation Desert Storm. Their dangerous reconnaissance mission, confirming targets for air strikes against the Iraqi troops and tanks who have overwhelmingly invaded Kuwait, comes hard on the heels of a catastrophe for the SEALS in Serbia. Whilst facing personal demons, the weight of expectation from the coalition forces to successfully begin the liberation of Kuwait bears down heavily on the team.
This is an ambitious story for an independent movie to take on, especially one that has such an insufficient budget to work with. The plot demands copious amounts of footage of bombers, aircraft carriers and jet fighters. However, the minuscule budget does not extend anywhere near to portraying all of that convincingly. Instead, we get frame after frame of stock footage being relentlessly edited into the film. This gives proceedings a jarring feel and it's especially the case when the characters are supposedly viewing scenes of devastation. Ultimately, you end up knowing full well that much of the scene has been culled from a newsreel. In fact, the stock footage appears so frequently throughout, that you sometimes wonder if you're watching a real movie or simply a clever editing job. There are also notable cutbacks in the costume department, as the Iraqi forces portrayed in the film don't appear to be wearing any kind of military uniform. They actually look more like ragtag members of the PLO, rather than Saddam's feared war machine.
This is a shame as the few scenes that don't feature any kind of stock footage are competently handled. The acting is earnest if unspectacular, the camera work is steady, the editing is sharp and the limited locations are used reasonably well. Positively, the battle scenes are decently filmed and are not without some excitement. The budget just simply can't extend to writer and director Mark C. Andrews' colossal ambition.
Some of this could have been tolerated more however, if it wasn't for a monumentally misjudged and frankly nausea inducing last ten minutes. The final act is so full of pomposity and cornball sentimentality, that it would test the patience of even the most forgiving of critics. It really drags the film down further, looking tacked on and out of place when compared with the lean, dark and unforgiving mood of the movie as a whole, stock footage and all.
SEAL Team VI has met with a hugely negative reception since it's release. The movie is actually not without a little merit and isn't nearly as bad as some reviews have made it out to be. On the whole however, it's an overly ambitious project that falls regrettably short in meeting it's objectives.

I'm a fan of b-movies and cheesy movies in general..."Surf Nazis Must Die", "Toxic Avenger", etc etc... but this is by far the worst movie i have ever seen. Military or otherwise. Seriously, who green lit this pile of garbage? The other reviews were spot on, so many factual errors, continuity errors...just too many to count. I looked at the IMDb profile and this guy has only written one movie, which is a complete no brainer. so far this review has a better plot and flow that that movie did. The only sad part is he actually probably made at least a dollar off of it. This movie was not made by anyone that was ever in the military or even a fan of military movies. Apparently it's just a guy and his drinking buddies that had a few days to kill. Just a sad representation of the military and cinematography in general.
Umm... did they just give a guy a Trident on a carrier, on the way to the mission, and say 'Welcome to the team, SEAL!''? Please no... And the ARMY SSGT on the freaking CARRIER said 'HOOAAH!' to his little 5 man SOF team (huh?) of which at least one looks like he is too old to even be enlisted outside of an officer rank. Oh my God. THE MARINES SAY HOOAAH. NOT THE ARMY, OR THE NAVY, OR THE AIR FORCE, OR THE USCG.
These camo patterns did not even exist until over 14 years after when this war happened.
The Navy officer at the start looks like his blouse has been laying on the floor under a pile of dirty clothes for the past week. In realty, that uniform would be IMMACULATE, with perfectly crisp and starched lines.
And his CO was wearing a freaking business suit. WHAT!!!!
I knew this movie would be a low budget production, but this is far worse than I ever imagined.
This 'movie' is an abomination. It's wrong on so many levels. This is the very worst SEAL movie I have ever seen. If I was a SEAL, I would be BEYOND insulted by this trash.
Are those COMS from freaking RADIO SHACK?????????? Oh hell no. NONONO.
It takes many months of evaluation, testing, and investigating a person's past to become a SEAL. They will send people to the town you grew up in, and question your past friends, teachers, parents, family, neighbors, and anyone else you spent time with. They will then put you through an INTENSE psych evaluation to make sure you can qualify for a special access security clearance.
They will test your mind and body to the fringes of reality and wear you down to the point that your mind becomes Jello so they can build you back up again.
They will tie your hands and feet together and throw you in a 30 foot pool and go down there and start attacking you to the point that you have to fight for your life.
Worst of all, SEALS and small special ops groups like with MARSOC, Rangers 10th and 45th, Delta, USAFPJ's, Force Recon, and even in other countries, like the SAS, Spetsnaz, GROM, SASF, FFLSR, etc, are brothers to the ends of the Universe. They don't start fighting like school children in the middle of a combat tour.

This has to be one of the worst "military-based" movies I've ever watched. Not only is the acting and actors pathetic but the storyline as well as the portrayal of Officers and Chief Petty Officers is unrealistic if not just flat out WRONG.
Whoever did the research for this movie needs to find a new profession as they got soooo many things wrong. Starting with the aircraft being used to the uniforms and insignia of the major player.
They call him Master Chief (E-9) but he's only wearing E-7 Collar devices which means he's a Chief. The carriers scenes are far from real as they won't allow the "SEALS" to be training with live weapons on the flight deck during flight ops. I could go on but why.
I was in the Navy for 1970-1993 and saw duty in Vietnam and Desert Shield/Storm. This movie is an insult to all of my fellow shipmates.
Hollywood at it's lowest!

Where to start? The acting is awful. The cinematography makes me think this may have been shot with a calculator. The writer/director must have birth defect or severe learning disability. Thats not cynical he would have to not only create this crap, but to then release it? Wow! This guy shouldn't be allowed to use a phone camera or even pencil. If I knew who to contact I would demand a refund. This movie is worse than bad. High school productions are better. There isn't even a coherent story. The depictions of military operations are so inaccurate that they are offensive. You don't even need to have been in the military to see these glaring misrepresentations. This is an insult moviegoers, military personnel, and people with learning disabilities.

I was surprised that the 10 reviews that existed before mine were ALL negative.
I watched the movie before I read the reviews.
In my opinion, this was a pretty good movie. This movie made me proud, patriotic, thankful, and sorry I could not serve myself! Yes, the acting was not superb. And yes, they probably did things that Navy Seals would never do. I guess technically some of the events that were based on true events did not necessarily happen to Seals.
My bottom line is that this was a good movie and it is worth watching. I'm not sure if it is worth paying full price for a DVD or blu-ray, but it is certainly worth watching.

Low budget, barely high school grade editing, special effects and sound. When the Seals put on gas mask and are wearing pilot flight suits resembling Korean War era pilots for a HALO jump I lost it. From that point on it was light a cheap, lame comedy.

I've seen many terrible movies, but this one ranks there with them. I'm guessing this is a real dishonor to our Navy Seals. Getting past the story, the acting and filming was also terrible. I did give it a 2 rating out of respect for those who served. I really wished this movie was better because few highlight Desert Shield. I had to find this military movie on some off-the-wall streaming channel. I watched the entire movie but looking back I wished I had given up on it early. Kept thinking it would improve. I cannot believe some of the story line in this movie, but I imagine it was for the entertainment value.

The acting is just AWFUL.
It's actually beyond awful, it's atrocious.
If I could give this less than a 1/10 then I absolutely would because my god, it's bad.
The storyline is also sketchy and it's clear the producers didn't even consult with the military on getting certain facts straight.
Please don't watch this - it's a waste of 90 min of your life that you will never get back.
It hurt my eyes, it hurt my ears and it hurt my soul.
I want my life back but that's never going to happen.
I would get more joy out of watching Indian Superman or some knock off Nigerian war movie with no budget.
