The killer had seen "Halloween" and "Friday the 13th," and arranged his murders accordingly. As a character says late in the film, "Movies don't create killers. Movies make killers creative."

"Scream" almost immediately entrenched itself in the pop consciousness, tapping into 1990s self-awareness and reviving the moribund slasher genre for the irony generation. It also wasn't long before the culture became self-aware of its own self-awareness, and thought to dissect the very act of dissection. The swords-and-sandals drama Those About to Die moved into the top 10 original series for the week (it premiered on July 18), likely with an assist from heavy promotion during NBCUniversal’s Olympics telecasts. The series recorded 399 million minutes of viewing time for the week.

Love Island also stayed strong in the week after its July 21 season finale. Though it came down from two straight weeks above a billion minutes, the show’s 724 million minutes of viewing (including earlier seasons on Hulu and Netflix) is very strong for an unscripted series not showing any new episodes during the measured week.

Paramount and Miramax announced earlier this year that they’re making another film after director Malcom D. Lee’s Scary Movie 5 in 2013. The actress, who played Cindy Campbell in the franchise’s first four films from 2000 to 2006, recently shared with People magazine what it would take for her to join the upcoming movie.

“Well, money!” Faris said with a laugh. But she “would love to reprise” her role if she also knew her former Scary Movie co-star Regina Hall, who played her character’s best friend Brenda, was returning as well.

“I would love to work with Regina again. I just love her so much,” the My Spy: The Eternal City actress added. “We would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer. And money.

Four years later, Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman have reunited for a sequel that is bigger and better than the original but still nowhere near as good as it should be.

Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman return as covert operatives JJ and Sophie in My Spy: The Eternal City. Several years have passed since their first unexpected partnership, and their dynamic has changed significantly. Now a teenager, Sophie no longer sees JJ as the heroic spy who saved her life. With JJ taking a desk job at the agency, Sophie has lost interest in the secretive world that once drew her in.

Rory (Matt Damon) and Cobby (Casey Affleck) are reluctant partners: a desperate father and an ex-con thrown together to pull off a robbery of the ill-gained earnings of a corrupt politician. But when the heist goes wrong, the two find themselves engulfed in a whirlwind of chaos, pursued not only by police, but also backwards bureaucrats and vengeful crime bosses. Completely out of their depth, they convince Rory’s therapist (Hong Chau) to join their riotous getaway through the city, where they must put aside their differences and work together to evade capture—or worse.

It was the third most watched streaming film of the year after Hamilton on Disney+ and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm on Prime Video.

Dave Bautista tried his hand at the family comedy sub-genre where tough guys take care of children in the 2020 film My Spy. That film joined the likes of Kindergarten Cop, The Nanny, The Pacifier, The Game Plan and The Chaperone. My Spy would become Prime Video’s third most-watched streaming title of 2020, so a sequel would definitely be in the books. Wait no further as Amazon MGM releases the trailer for My Spy The Eternal City (the title does not include a colon punctuation). The film is set to hit home screens on July 18.

Lionsgate has launched the first official trailer for J. J. Perry's upcoming action comedy The Killer's Game, which is every bit as bloody as you'd expect as we see Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy; Dune; Blade Runner 2049) step into the shoes of an assassin who must survive the aftereffects of a hit he put out on himself.

As per the synopsis, "when top hitman Joe Flood (Dave Bautista) is diagnosed with a terminal illness, he decides to take matters into his own hands – by taking a hit out on himself. But when the very hitmen he hired also target his ex-girlfriend (Sofia Boutella) , he must fend off an army of assassin colleagues and win back the love of his life before it’s too late."
