First off. I love Aaron Schoenke's work. I remember when i first saw Patient J, and was mesmerized by the intricate story, plot twists, acting, script, camera angles, and set. The look and feel of everything in Patient J was top notch and was very professional. I believe that if Aaron sticks to his directing style like in patient J, then he will go places.
Now, on to Here Lies Revelations. I thought that this movie was still not finished do to the fact that on Bat in the Suns' website says its "coming soon". so they really need to update their website badly. Though i stumbled upon it here on IMDb, saw the low score and was surprised. i found it on google, and watched as i ate me chicken dumplings. it wasn't that bad actually. i saw some things, that made me very happy and others, not so much.
Pros:
The music is absolutely outstanding! Sean outdid all of his previous work in my opinion; the music made this for me.
The makeup was good and looked realistic.
Acting was okay, not amazing but not horrible either.
Great sets as usual.
Good costumes too.
Cons:
Camera angles from hell(pun intended)! They were just seemingly the one thing that made this look amateurish.
Sound effects for a couple of things: gun shots, bird stabbing, etc...were a little disappointing and only made it look more amateurish.
a couple of scene transitions that didn't flow very well. Which is the most important thing about filming...the flow.
Somethings in the story are completely impossible to interpret. like why was the guy a coal miner, etc.
all in all. it was enjoyable to watch. especially the second half. But maybe next time, Aaron and co. should try out some better camera angles, and scene transitions and i promise then it will look much better.
can't wait to see what they do next.
