When Steef, Lucas and Oscar are the target of bullying again on the first day of school, they realize that the popular guys always do something with sports or music. Steef comes up with an idea: what if they set up a hip-hop group?
The boys start of with their first track, but it turns out to be much harder then they thought. Then Oscar gets an idea: what if they just dress like rappers? Maybe that will give them some swagger?
The boys have put their first track online, but apart from their aunt, no one is listening. In an attempt to get trending Steef decides to apply for an open mic event at school, which turns out to be their downfall.
The boys get help from music teacher Stanley, but nothing could be further from the truth as Stanley teaches them about the history of hip-hop. On top of that Steef sister has a new boyfriend; the boys archenemy Benji.
When the boys struggle with a writer's block, they think they need weed as "real" rappers to find inspiration. But where do you actually get that? After some poor attempts, Benji appears to be the only one who can help them.
The hip hop track is ready. Now they need a music video. When the boys get help from Nova, Steef and Oscar do both do their best to impress her. It starts small, but in no time a fierce competition starts.
The video of the boys being arrested goes viral. To further boost their gangster image, Oscar brags that his family is in the Colombian mafia. He has just completely forgotten that his mother comes to school for a meeting.
The boys organize a house party for the launch of their first track. But how do you ensure that the popular kids come? Oscar brags to everyone there is booze, but when that plan falls through they must become creative with lemonade.
The band is broken up. Steef wants to go solo, but that doesn't sit well with Oscar and Lucas. They post disstracks back and forth on social media. It doesn't take long for rivalry to escalate and a rap battle is inevitable.
Steef wants nothing more than to make amends with his friends, but how? He decides to put his feelings on paper and wants to rap them in front of the whole school. But Laura confronts him: if he does this he might as well change schools.
