Himpapawid (Manila Skies) was only the second Filipino film to ever compete in the official competition of Tokyo Int'l Film Festival, as the first was BAYANI (Heroes) in 1992 also by Raymond Red.
Himpapawid (Manila Skies) has won two awards for best screenplay, despite having only a 12 page treatment as basis for shooting the film. The original 12-page treatment is now archived at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences library.
