    WTH they did that?

Everything they presented to us throughout the season was just thrown out the window in this episode. No, it should not have ended like this. And honestly, couldn't care less bout Harrison during the whole season.

    pointless

The direction the writers made makes the whole show pointless. There's too much 'coincidental' evidence, ex machina and plot direction that just doesn't make any sense. It's a very lazy writing. It would've been great if last episode was the finale.

Mindblowing how the writers can messed up the finale twice. Didn't they learn from their mistake ?

They did a reboot just to worsen the finale.

The finale was like that person who breaks up with you, calls you back 10 years later, just after you are over with him/her, just so that he/she can break up with you again in a worse way.

    Unfreaking believable!!!!! I'm canceling Showtime!!

What a total disappointment!! Who does this kind of thing! Why even come back in the first place, when you could have just let it be after the final season of Dexter.

All I know is that showtime will get no more money from me and I hope other fans will do the same. I apologize for the review that seems more like a rant. I guess that's because it is.

So disappointed in the way they all let this go the way it did.

    Goodbye Showtime!!!!

Dexter peters out with lowbrow predictable, and predicted, snoozer ending

I find it ironic that the writers claimed this would be a shocking ending, when this possible ending with who did what, was discussed as the ultimate cliche cop out. Fans of the show on reddit insisted that the predicted scenario would not be correct since it would be too lowbrow. Well we got that lazy ending.

And here we have it, the lazy writers choice. Dexter makes a series of way out of character mistakes. The moral ambiguity is all gone. Instead we get a pedestrian "lesson" on toxic fatherhood. All dads in this show are bad.

Also we can forgive a minor plot hole, but this also has two major plot holes that are in effect gigantic red herrings as well.

    • Trivia
The scene where Dexter and Angela each look at the moon is an allusion to The Getaway (2009).
    • Goofs
After the arson, Chief Angela Bishop conducts an illegal and improper search of Dexter's property. The screws should have had a marker, been photographed, and then gathered with gloves to prevent contamination. Also, the screws from Matts leg were not "in plain sight", they buried under the blackened charred remains of the house. She also showed Dexter the screws in her hand - when they should have been kept in the Evidence bag in order to protect the chain of evidence. Subsequently, this discovery would have been thrown out as evidence in any court of law, and Dexter would have been free to go.
