Cohen was pretty well cast, but I think that's where the compliments end. I know this is a low budget movie (at least I hope it is) but several directors have proven that low budget movies can be phenomenal - Everyhting Everywhere, anyone?
The production quality is poor, to the point that I came here to double-check on how old the movie is. It really wouldn't be out of place in the 90's. The acting is so perasively poor that I can only assume it's a directing issue - practically every line is over- or underacted. The dialogue lacks cohesiveness, in some cases to the point of nonsense.
And to top it all off, it must be the worst casting of Sophia Loren I've ever seen.
I could also argue that the story would have been better told had the movie not wasted significant time on Cohen's decision to go to Hydra, and his journey there. The same point could have been made with three or four lines of dialogue once he was there. It would have allowed a bit more time to dive into his time there, how he met Marianne and their time together.
