The cabin used is named "Dog Trot" and is near Bay Spring Lake on the Tenn-Tom Waterway. The film crew were denied using a real fire inside the cabin due to risk of fire. In one outside scene, a distant cell tower can be seen.
The cabin layout is nearly identical to the mountain cabin on Fraser's Ridge NC in the TV series Outlander.
