The Magnetic Fields were able to get through eight of their 69 Love Songs during a performance on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series.
The special performance allowed Stephin Merritt and co. to offer stripped-down takes on some of the songs they’ve been playing around North America this year as they celebrate the 25th anniversary of the classic double album. The performance opened with Anthony Kaczynski singing the short and tender a cappella “Roses,” then continued with Merritt leading a rendition of “All My Little Words.”

The American Pie franchise has had a lasting impact due to its cast, originality, and memorable moments, making it the quintessential teen comedy. The best way to watch all the American Pie movies is either by release date or chronological order, simplifying the decision-making process. American Pie and American Pie 2 are the most successful entries in terms of box office gross, while American Wedding had the lowest earnings and weakest group dynamic.
Whether in chronological order or by release date, all nine American Pie movies in the franchise are sure to give viewers a good laugh. While the teen comedy genre has faded, American Pie left a strong impression on audiences mainly because of its cast, originality, and ridiculously memorable moments. Even though other teen comedies, like Not Another Teen Movie, She's All That, and Get Over It, have their supporters, American Pie reigns supreme as the quintessential teen comedy franchise.

American Pie revolutionized raunchy comedies and brought them back to the mainstream, capturing the essence of teenage angst and camaraderie. With the main cast movies ending, the subsequent American Pie films struggled to maintain the original charm, leading to diminishing returns. Despite mixed reviews for the newer movies, the American Pie franchise defined raunchy comedies in the 2000s, with American Reunion reigniting its success.
The original 1999 American Pie was somewhat of a game-changer in the world of comedy, bringing back raunchy rom-coms to the masses, but when it comes to the best American Pie movie, there have been several highs and lows since that film hit theaters. Breaking ground in a new way, the studios wanted to keep the magic going for as long as possible, turning it into a juggernaut franchise, both with and without the original stars. The 1999 coming-of-age comedy "American Pie" was a massive hit when it was released in 1999. Starring a who's-who of upcoming teen talent, "American Pie" delved deeply into the more embarrassing sexual details of being an adolescent boy in the modern day. There were scenes involving bodily fluids, oral sex, and multiple references to creative masturbation. While the bulk of the film -- written by Mike Herz and directed by Paul Weisz -- prided itself on aggressive raunchiness, it wisely ended on a sweet note, allowing the characters to realize that despite having had sex, they still have a lot to look forward to on their journey of growing up.
For a while in the early 2000s, Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Mena Suvari, Shannon Elizabeth, Seann William Scott, Thomas Ian Nicholas, and Natasha Lyonne were household names largely because of the "American Pie" movies. To date, the series has made $990 million.

The screenwriter of American Reunion teases a possible storyline for American Pie 5. The potential storyline would explore whether or not the romantic relationship between Jim's dad and Stifler's mom worked out. No American Pie 5 is currently in the works, though a sixth spinoff is in development.
A possible storyline for American Pie 5 has been teased by a screenwriter of American Reunion. The American Pie movies, which began in 1999, form a teen sex comedy franchise that follows the lives of best friends Jim (Jason Biggs), Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas), Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas), and Oz (Chris Klein), as well as their crude, hard-partying acquaintance Stifler (Seann William Scott) and their various love interests. Although five direct-to-dvd spinoffs were also made, the main branch of the franchise includes just four movies: the original, 2001's American Pie 2, 2003's American Wedding, and 2012's American Reunion.

The plans for American Pie 5 suggest that the long-awaited sequel will make radical changes to what made the original series so successful. Released in 1999, American Pie tells the coming-of-age story of five high school classmates who vow to lose their virginity before graduation. American Pie was a box office success upon release and has since become a cult classic thanks to its outrageous moments and quotable lines. As such, it's unsurprising that executives remain keen to revive the lucrative series. However, everything that has come so far after the original movies in the series has been straight-to-video at best.
The success of American Pie led to a whole franchise - with three sequels featuring the principal cast and several straight-to-video spinoff movies. In 2012, Universal secured the rights to produce American Pie 5, but the development of the film has been slow until now. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news...

As much as we all like to joke about Skyrim‘s various re-releases, the fact of the matter is that there are only a few video games ever made that could be released that many times and still tempt you to play them again. Well, a big part of the reason why it’s so easy to return to Skyrim time and time again is the game’s quests are so good.
In a previous look at the best quests in Elder Scrolls history, I mentioned that Skyrim‘s quests aren’t quite as good as those in Oblivion. While I stand by that potentially controversial statement, I’ll also say that the sheer number of quests available in Skyrim and the diversity of those quests means that everyone has their favorite quest that they consider to be the absolute best. We could talk about the 50 best quests in Skyrim...

Film aficionados will want to keep an eye on Amazon Prime Video in August, as the streaming giant is set to debut two Cannes Film Festival premieres: “Val,” a new documentary about Val Kilmer that uses archival footage shot by the actor himself, and “Annette,” Leos Carax award-winning musical (it won best director at Cannes) starring Adam Driver and Maron Cotillard and featuring music by Ron and Russell Mael of Sparks.
But beyond the Prime Video originals, the Amazon library content added to the service next month is vast and impressive. Among the major movies coming to Prime Video include “Aliens,” “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” “Jaws,” “Moneyball,” and “Predator.” Meanwhile, IMDb TV, the free service that users can access without a corresponding Amazon Prime subscription, will host “Apollo 13,” “La La Land,” and “Ghostbusters” among many other big titles.

A lot of people might be shocked to discover that not only is the American Pie franchise still a thing that exists, but the most recent entry, Girls’ Rules, is the ninth installment in the series. Most folks associate the brand with the original trilogy that was massively popular at the turn of the millennium, as well as fourth outing American Reunion that arrived almost a decade later, which were embraced as generational comedy classics at the time and raked in almost $990 million at the box office.
Continuing to milk the concept for all that it was worth, a slew of direct to video follow-ups have been released on a regular basis since 2005 under the American Pie Presents banner, but you’d be forgiven for overlooking the existence of Band Camp, The Naked Mile, Beta House and The Book of Love. But the clown princes of same have adapted and moved on to less high-profile story lines. Electric Entertainment has set the North American theatrical release for Lbj for November 10, 2017.
The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and stars Jennifer Jason Leigh, Richard Jenkins, Bill Pullman, Jeffrey Donovan and Michael Stahl-David alongside Harrelson.
Lbj picks up the story as Senate majority Leader Lyndon Johnson loses the 1960 Democratic presidential nomination to Senator John F. Kennedy, played by Donovan.
Johnson agrees to be his young rival’s running mate. But once they win the election, despite his extensive legislative experience and shrewd political instincts, Johnson finds himself sidelined in the role of vice president.

When you’re a parent, you fit in the daily essentials where you can — and Jessica Biel is no exception.
The 34-year-old actress stopped by The Tonight Show Thursday, and spoke to Jimmy Fallon about one specific skill she has become adept at since welcoming son Silas Randall, now 22 months: eating in the shower.
“This is just mom life,” Biel tells Fallon when he brings out a print of an Instagram photo she shared in September, showing a set of dishes resting on a ledge in her shower. “I don’t know if anybody else does this, I don’t have time for anything.

This year’s award season continues to yield a robust specialized bounty. The Oscar contenders are led by “La La Land” (Lionsgate) and “Hidden Figures” (20th Century Fox). The public, particularly older audiences, are coming out in big numbers for films that launched in limited release.
That doesn’t extend to new limited openings, with nearly all top distributors holding back until the awards noise dies down. Still, a few are venturing out with smaller less heralded films in New York (along with a plethora of Video on Demand releases). This week sees three of note, led by a very surprising total for “World’s Apart” (Cinema Libre), an under-the-radar 2015 Greek economic crisis drama.
Check out our Award Season video interviews.

Timberlake's wife, Jessica Biel, appeared on The Late Late Show With James Corden on Thursday, where she dished about the early days of her romance with the 35-year-old A-list singer.

A photo posted by theSkimm (@theskimm) on Feb 4, 2016 at 5:25am Pst Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake welcomed their adorable son, Silas, in April 2015, and it was only a matter of time before people started asking if he'd inherited his proud parents' love of music and acting. According to Jessica? "Probably." While hitting the red carpet for her new movie, The Book of Love, the mom told E! News that Silas is "definitely very charming" and "full of beans." Despite his potential for show business, she's hoping that he stays far, far away from Hollywood. "It's such a challenging existence being an artist," she said. "It's hard. I just want him to be happy whatever he does." Although there's no way of knowing for sure if Silas will pursue a career in show business in the future, he's already got somewhat of an acting credit on his résumé. While filming The Book of Love,...

When you're Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake's kid, ya got a pretty good chance of inheriting an "entertainment gene" or two. As it turns out, it looks like their son Silas, who turns two in April, has "probably" inherited his parents' talents, says Biel. She already thinks there's a good chance Silas will follow in her and J.T.'s footsteps, but it's not something she's exactly hoping for. Yes, she sang to me on the red carpet! We were mucho impressed, but Biel was very modest, describing her rendition of the song as "bad musical theater." I know, January is usually a real dumping ground for films. That’s normally true, but if you look hard enough, you can find worthwhile titles hitting screens. This year is no exception, as 2017 has a handful of pretty strong movies hitting in its first month. I can personally vouch for a couple that I’ve seen already, so there’s that. Your mileage may vary with these, but if you look hard enough, you’re sure to find a few things to enjoy. Without any further delay though, here are the first batch of 2017 titles that don’t appear to be wastes of time. At least one is legitimately great too… Here now are ten January releases in particular to look forward to: 10. Detour – An unusual film noir that I had split feelings about when I saw it at the Tribeca Film Festival, this is still an independent title worth making note of.

Most people probably only know Maisie Williams as a badass assassin on Game Of Thrones or a badass immortal on Doctor Who, but she’s pretty far from either of those things in this trailer for The Book Of Love. The film stars Jason Sudeikis as a boring man whose wife (Jessica Biel) instructs him to forge a meaningful connection with a homeless girl for some reason. The homeless girl is Williams, and she crosses Sudeikis’ path when he sees her stealing from the garbage. As it turns out, she’s trying to build a boat, and Sudeikis decides that it’s his mission in life to help this girl sail across the ocean. (He also may or may not be distracting himself from a tragic thing that happens to someone close to him, but you’ll have to watch the trailer to see that spoiler.) The film features Mary...

"This is madness!" "No it's not!" Electric Entertainment has unveiled a trailer for an indie titled The Book of Love, formerly known as The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea when it first premiered. The story is about an introverted architect name Henry, played by Jason Sudeikis, who befriends a homeless teen and helps her build a boat. That sounds a bit weird, but obviously it's a quirky little indie drama about supporting the (crazy) dreams of others. Maisie Williams stars in this, with Jessica Biel, Mary Steenburgen, Paul Reiser, Orlando Jones and Joshua Mikel. This seems to be inspired a bit by the Kon-Tiki story, and it also reminds me of the real story of a girl who sailed around the world - as seen in Maidentrip. Check it out. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Bill Purple's The Book of Love, direct from Et's YouTube: Henry is an introverted architect.

The Book of Love is long and boring, according to Peter Gabriel, but it happens to be the new title for Bill Purple’s upcoming adventure drama starring Maisie Williams of Game of Thrones.
Originally called The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, Purple’s original pic – one written by Robbie Pickering – enjoyed its worldwide debut at Tribeca back in April, and is now teetering on the verge of theatrical release. And so, to drum up excitement, Entertainment Tonight has today lifted the lid on the rousing first trailer for The Book of Love (see below), and in it we see Williams’ runaway teen Millie set sail with the help of reticent architect Henry (Jason Sudeikis).
Fostering an unlikely friendship between the two, Purple’s feature film debut takes place soon after Henry loses his pregnant wife (Jessica Biel) and though that may be a premise that could so easily dissolve into soppy melodrama,...

Boasting original music from Justin Timberlake, and a cast including Jason Sudeikis, Maisie Williams, and Jessica Biel, sometimes the moviemaking stars don’t align. Indeed, when “The Book Of Love” premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival this spring (under the title “The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea“) the response was pretty chilly (even our own review).
