The concept of a game show centered around naming a song can be great. The execution in this show was awful. The audience is very fake with how excited they get, and the attempts at building suspense are laughable. The hostess is also laughably bad.
I can hardly get through an episode. Too drawn out and too much "fluff" between Jane & Randy....drives me nuts. I was so excited for this show and so incredibly let down. Could have been so much better...what a waste.
This incarnation of the popular musical quiz show features the multi-talented Jane Krakowski as host and Randy "Dawg" Jackson on piano. Two contestants compete for money by displaying their talents at identifying songs by clues and musical snippets.
There are two contests in an episode, and the formats vary, but much of the game is identical to the original game show, including the showdowns where players try to identify songs by as few notes as possible.
The show lacks some suspense, but the contests move along quickly, the band is very talented, and they play for big bucks. It's a reasonable trade-off.

The original was a very good show, if this wasn't on Fox, it would probably be better. It is extremely over produced and the audience is as bad as an infomercial audience.
Couldn't get past Jane Krakowski. Why all the mugging for the camera? Sorry. Can't do it.

Bad actress, bad host, really bad at comedy. She just ruins everything. What were the producers thinking putting her in as a host? Oh, this show was meant to fail...

Get off the "overproduced" bandwagon and watch this show. Talented people playing and singing the songs and Jane picks up right where she left off on 30 Rock, she's the perfect host for this show. It's fun for the whole family.

This show was pretty bad. So so awkward to watch. The audience was so bad and over produced when trying to create suspense out of nothing. The clues were so easy they didn't need more than 1 note to guess a song? The hosts wardrobe was a bit much for a family game show. I don't plan on giving this another shot. It was just awful.

Not sure why this show is rated so low. It's not perfect, but it's such an easy show to just sit and enjoy, and obviously play along at home! I think people are being a little too critical!
The game itself isn't too bad, similar to the original. The crowd 'oooos' all the time gets annoying quick during the bidding and trying to 'capture' reactions of the crowd seems scripted like they do on the 'Masked' shows. It's a sub par reboot... but what do you expect from prime time TV these days?

Love the show concept, speed, skill requirement, and tension...but, Jane is SO inexperienced being #1 on stage and the show's amateur camera focus on Jane's dancing & singing are cringeworthy. Randy appears to be a head puppet on a stiff cool 88-key expert...he's way too stiff and rehearsed.

My family and I are having a great time watching this and playing along. I could do without the canned audience responses - let them be natural - and Jane could tone it down a little, but Randy is awesome and I'm really enjoying the show.
Their first season that was shot in Australia was the best, mostly because the band they put together was really good. Much of the band changed in the later seasons and never was as impressive.
Jane and Randy seemed to have more fun in the first season. Having random prizes early on was fun and the goofy way the band would sing the prize was entertaining.
Sometimes I wish the bid-a-note section didn't have such giveaway clues so that people were actually guessing it based off of the notes more. It frequently happens that the person that isn't good at guessing from the music is better at guessing from the clues so they win that section and we end up with the weakest contestant for the final round.
It would be nice if they made sure they had a wide variety of music each time too. Because it is easy for them to do more songs that are old or more that are new and whichever contestant is more familiar with that genre will always win.

Honestly, I just don't get it. Jeopardy and Price is Right are two of the most popular and long running game shows of all time. What do they have in common? Simple approach, fast paced, NO MANUFACTURED DRAMA!
Why can't US game shows just K.I.S.S.? Awful pacing, phony hosts, live music that only bears a passing resemblance to the radio hits (mitigating the entire point of the show), absolutely HORRENDOUS audience-reaction prompting.
Just total trash.

The hosts are really awkward, watching Jane dance in episode 2 made me bury my face, and Randy's "dog"-like response to seemingly every question should have ended on American Idol.
The game itself is just way too easy, the producers must have worked hard to find people who didn't know music in order to create drama for the show. The final round has zero excitement because it's A) So easy B) Even if you lose, you still win a ton of money.
Also, the audience reactions seem extremely rehearsed, which is annoying every time they pan to them and you see yet more fake-laughing.
I loved the original "Name that Tune", it may be possible to resurrect this with new hosts, and a new location, but I doubt either will come and this will fall into the bin of yet-more failed game show reboots (see: Press Your Luck, etc.).
PS->Speaking of the location, if you weren't aware, this was filmed in Australia, mate! The producers try hard to hide it, and make no mention of it on air. However, I believe Randy and his big mouth DOES mention it, it just gets edited out, explaining some of his weird jerky small talk. Some.

I loved the show as a kid and I am completely disappointed with this new show. The host is terrible, she looks very underdressed and cheap. Very over produced. Will not be watching again.

Here is what is wrong with she show::
1. Randy Jackson acts awkward and stiff - comments are stupid
2. Randy plays the piano too soft - notes are not distinct
3. Fake laughing oohing and aweing by audience is stupid.
4. 10 notes to start? Too many
5. Needs more classic songs - rock and pop.
I'll add more later - maybe if worth my time.

Good concept, terrible choice of hosts.. Randy Jackson? Cringe.. Blonde woman I don't know, CRINGE.
I love the show and like trying to guess the songs. I enjoy the hosts and the singers. The only thing I have a problem with, is the over enthusiastic crowd. They don't seem genuine.

This show is so bad in every imaginable way. So, you either get angry and shut it off, or you can laugh at the audience overreacting to every little thing, the heart pounding music, the horrible hosts, and total over production. If you are looking for a proper show, you will be disappointed.
Krakowski is clearly a pro. The first episode was a bit stiff and awkward at times but that's normal for pilots. I'd give it another watch.

I like Jane Krakowski usually. I admit that Randy Jackson and his "dawg" have always bugged me. I loved Name That Tune as a child and we occasionally watch old episodes on YouTube. I know the format and have always enjoyed the game. A modern take with modern music? I'm in!
Jane's jokes were lame and the audiences overzealous laughter started to ruin it from the first moment. The band, one singer was decent enough, the rest were just not that great. I'd rather have not had the singers and simply had Jackson playing on the piano.
The clues are far too easy. Naming a song that is something you might say to your cab driver on Sunday. I could guess that song with no notes. To me, that ruined it.
The final round with the seven songs to guess within a set time was better. There were at least a few challenges in there. I also appreciated that the decades were mixed, so 80s being my decade where instantly recognizable while some of the most recent songs were harder for me.
Overall though, the jokes, the focus on Krakowski's body with the tight, low cut, well above the knee dresses, and lack of memorable interactions between the host, bandleader, and contestants made me simply not care. Maybe if there was less talking and more game playing I'd have liked it better.

This show is so good. The band can sound like any band or musician. Can even do rap. Sounding exactly like the original song every time. I can't belive it when they can guess it with just one note. So impressive. Love the host's and definitely under-rated.

It's not good at all. When watching the first episode all I was reminded of was the scene in the Hunger Games when all the contestants went on that talk show. Everything seems so disingenuous.
