"Don't tell me we came all this way for nothing..." Dark Star & Uncork'd Entertainment have revealed an official trailer for this indie horror film called The North Witch, the next freaky creation from indie genre filmmaker Bruce Wemple (he also made The Hangman earlier this year). Written by Anna Shields, this chilling tale invites horror fans into an eerie, suspenseful journey set against the foreboding wilderness.

This week’s horror releases bring a killer shark onto Netflix and the feature debut of Ishana Night Shyamalan into theaters, and that’s only the beginning of the tidal wave of new horror.

The breakout Korean blockbuster Exhuma was released in theaters here in the United States back in March, and Well Go USA Entertainment brought it home to VOD this Tuesday.

This is now set for a VOD release this summer if any horror fans want to give it a look. The Hangman follows a father and son on a camping trip into deep rural Appalachia. A local cult has summoned an evil demon born of hate and pain, known to them as The Hangman, and now the bodies have begun to pile up. One more, the father wakes up find his son is gone. Starring LeJon Woods, Lindsey Dresbach, Richard Lounello, Jefferson Cox, Daniel Martin Berkey, & Mar Cellus. Wemple adds this amusing tease: "We set out to tell a story about the lengths a father will go to get his son back, including coming face to face with a bloodthirsty demon raised from hell.

Most of writer/director Bruce Wemple’s films fall into one of two categories. There are films about cryptids like Dawn of the Beast and The Retreat. And there are films dealing with abnormalities with time such as The Tomorrow Job and Lake Artifact.

Island Escape seems to be an attempt to bring the two themes together with this story of an accident at a research base on the Isle of Gran Manan. We know something is really wrong as the prologue shows a helicopter pilot being killed by what appears to be a bestial version of himself who then tries to fly off in the chopper only to have it explode in mid-air.

First Contact, the latest film from writer/director Bruce Wemple, sees him mixing the monster movie themes that he’s used in films like Dawn of the Beast with the time travel and sci-fi concepts from Lake Artifact and The Tomorrow Job with a hint of Lovecraftian cosmic terror. Add in some musings about family and the result is an entertaining if somewhat muddled, film.
