The Black Guelph is a superb movie. The characters and actors are brilliant. Superb work by the cast and director. I loved the story. This movie is about people trying to survive in the city. The characters are very well developed and although this movie has a dark story, it is not a dark movie. It draws you in and makes you really feel for the characters (good and bad). And that takes a lot of skill from a director to succeed in making you feel that way. The Black Guelph made me appreciate what I have and how I grew up. Life is tough when you don&#39;t have the support you need. Well done to everyone who was involved in this movie.

The Black Guelph, absolutely fantastic watch. Dark, Raw, realistic heartbreaking. This film delves deep into the multi generational Issues that are rife in Irelands Socioeconomic section of society. Issues that are still being swept under the carpet. This is a story without heros because it&#39;s everyday issues with everyday people.. so honest, Brilliant. Another thought provoking master piece from John Connors. Brilliant performance from Conners, Casper Walsh, Tony Doyle and Paul Roe. Denis Mc Cormack as always gave a great performance. It comes as no surprise that this film has won two awards already!

The Black Guelph is nothing short of a masterpiece. A stunning film, with incredible direction from John Connors . Congratulations to John and Tiernan on writing and John directing a near perfect film. One of the best films ive seen in a long time. Firstly the casting was inch perfect, and the performances were chilling. The film does not bash you over the head with it&#39;s message, it&#39;s filmed and shot in a way that the building of tension and dredd and the melon collie , raw performances leaves the theater of the mind to it, and the results truly break your heart into pieces whilst watching Dan&#39;s flashback scenes. Atmoshere and tension is more powerful and gut wrenching that anything. Dan stepping into his old room at the industial school was chilling, suggesting to survive your past , you have to face it head on. Paul Roe was incredible in the role of Dan, truly excellent. Tony Doyle as Virgil was fantastic, when he first meets Dan and takes the panic attack, I also felt like I couldnt breath, it was an incredible performance from Tony and I cannot wait to see more from him in the future, the panic attack scene helped to set the uneasy heavy tone of the film. Graham Earley as Kanto was sensational. He is one to watch , he looked to have put every ounce of himself into the role and completely dissapeared into it. His scenes were another level, when his child is left alone whilst he bangs sniff up his nose with some random slag, and the childs mother walks in the next morning and Kanto can bearly speak or sit up cause he is drugged up to the gills , then bursts into tears and loaded with self pity is an extremely hard scene to watch, he hits rock bottom with a harrowing crash and it is all too real to watch. Graham Earley reaches the heights of Ray Winstone for his powerhouse performance, his downward spiril in The Black Guelph reminded me to Ray&#39;s rock bottom in Gary Oldman&#39;s Nil By Mouth . The music was it&#39; s own character in the film, God Creative with Damien Dempsey being the standout. What I took away from the film is that the damage done by the Catholic church has not only destroyed people, but their children and grandkids , it is the ripple effect, people turning to drugs and alcohol and crime to escape/ fight the demons of their ruined lifes due to the evil within the Catholic Church of Ireland , even in the courtroom meeting with Dan and the lawyer and he remains Dan that he agrees that his statements and testamony are horrific, evil and vile, he then declares that &quot; He represents THE STATE&quot; , in turn , dont matter what he thinks , just take the lump sum of money ( blood money) get over it and move on, nobody arrested, nobody punished and zero justice served. Dan then gives the money to Virgil and his mother, the only characters with a glimmer of hope. Then the other half to his son Kanto , but it is all too little too late. Dan reunites with his younger soul that died years ago, and despite Dan and Kantos efforts , Kanto is doomed at the hands of John Connors sadistic charactor Ryan. In turn with Dan and Kanto gone, Kantos child and one on the way will suffer and the cycle continues. For those who suffer in silence.
