Well, this is an odd little beast. Brazil’s Davi de Oliveira Pinheiro recently completed a short film titled The Soul Detective, a film that stars none other than iconic American director David Lynch as himself. The ten minute short is the final entry in a web series called simply The Think Tank, an interview series with a variety of film makers but doing a straight up talking-head piece just wouldn’t suit either Pinheiro or Lynch, and so they’ve come up with something entirely different - a short that uses Lynch’s words as the launching point for a surreal, stream of consciousness fiction.
A detective enters a train car were he finds different manifestations of a force that haunts the place. Using his telepathic powers he tries to enter the mind of a recently deceased man before all his memories vanish.
Check it out below the break!

The Soul Detective is the fifth and last episode from Brazilian web series Boundaries of Thought: Think Tank. It was written and directed by Davi de Oliveira Pinheiro, whose post-apocalyptic thriller Beyond the Grave we're very much looking forward to. Concerning a murder, a train car, supernatural forces and a detective in a classic black and white 60s cut mod suit, the short is very reminiscent of the general vibe of Twin Peaks which is perhaps why I'm not totally surprised to see David Lynch make an appearance.

I don't like David Lynch's films but I respect the dude so it is with some joy that I report to you Lynch will be acting in the short The Soul Detective. Made by Davi de Oliveira Pinheiro, it revolves around a detective who enters a train car filled with different manifestations of a force that haunts the place. He uses his telepathic powers to try to enter the mind of a recently deceased man before his memories vanish. It sounds pretty cool and the best part is that you can actually check...
