Tyler Labine is speaking out about how he's "counting his blessings" after a medical emergency.
The New Amsterdam alum shared over the weekend via Instagram that he had a "potentially fatal" blood clot in his liver and intestines last week.
Thankfully, it was caught in time.
"Sometimes it's a Tuesday and you're walking around with a tummy ache so you try to sleep it off," he wrote on the social media platform.
"Then sometimes you wake up on a weds with a stomach ache so bad you decide to go to the ER at your local hospital."
"And then sometimes your tummy ache turns out to be a potentially fatal blood clot in your intestines and liver and you have to spend the next 3 days in the hospital trying not to die. Just sometimes," he continued.
The Reaper alum shared an update on how he's feeling after the traumatic event.

Zdf Enterprises and the U.K.-based Parsonage Productions are developing a new drama, “The Bronte Girls,” a fictional account of the last summer which the three Bronte sisters spent together.
The drama is based on the stage play of the same name by New York-based playwright Caroline Franklin (“Last Night at the Carmine”). Franklin will adapt the drama for the small screen with the British writer-director Darcia Martin.
The initial series, structured as a six-part drama, will be executive produced by Harvey Myman, Patty Lenahan Ishimoto and Patrick Irwin, who first worked together on A+E Networks’ U..K. period crime drama, “Miss Scarlet & The Duke.”
“The Bronte Girls” is set in the village of Haworth, Yorkshire, where Reverend Bronte’s three daughters, Charlotte (19), Emily (17) and 17-year-old Anne spent their last summer together as teenagers. Theirs was not a prim and proper youth, “The Bronte Girls” imagines, painting a...

Liz Lemon. Leslie Knope. Mindy Lahiri. The past several years have been full of iconic comedy leading ladies, and they're about to have a new member of the club. On the new NBC comedy I Feel Bad, Emet Kamala-Sweetzer tries to juggle her family and her career and finds herself frustrated over not being able to achieve her idea of perfection and "having it all." There's a good chance you recognize the actress playing Emet, but an equally good chance that you can't quite remember what you recognize her from. Never fear - we've got the rundown of where you've seen actress Sarayu Blue before.
Known earlier in her career as Sarayu Rao, Blue has been acting since 2002's Leela, although she didn't snag a noticeable role until 2007. In that year, she joined the film Lions For Lambs, which starred Tom Cruise, Robert Redford, and Meryl Streep. Despite the film's starry cast,...

I generally pay as much attention to the broadcast network development season as I do to the baseball draft. Though the shows that actually survive development are much closer to airing chronologically than most baseball draftees are to the majors, the winnowing process is just as brutal in both cases. On average, a given network will hear 3-400 pitches a year, order scripts for 60-70 of them, make 8-12 pilots and put roughly between a half dozen and a dozen of them on the air. So I’ve usually found development not worth worrying about until shows are actually ordered to series and scheduled. That said, it’s been tough to ignore this fall’s development season, where it seems like every day for the past few weeks, my Twitter feed has blown up a few times an afternoon with news of a familiar movie or TV property being adapted...

‘About a Boy's’ Young Star Benjamin Stockham Talks Season 2, Shares Favorite Pieces of Acting Advice
At just 14 years old, Benjamin Stockham has already starred in three broadcast network TV shows. Fox's “Sons of Tucson” was cancelled after just four episodes in 2010. And NBC decided not to renew White House family comedy “1600 Penn” after its first season ended in early 2013. So Stockham knows how hard it is to make it to a second season and isn't taking his current series, NBC's “About a Boy,” for granted. “It is really, really great being on a second season,” Stockham told TheWrap. “With the first season, you're always a little bit worried that it might not...

The Mindy Project alum Tommy Dewey will star opposite Krysten Ritter in NBC’s pilot Mission Control, a Universal TV-produced comedy from executive producers Adam McKay and Will Ferrell. A workplace ensemble set in 1962, Mission Control examines what happens when a strong woman (Ritter) butts heads with a macho astronaut (Dewey) in the race to land on the moon. Dewey’s Tom is the newest member of Mission Control, a former test pilot who quickly bonds with the male crew and immediately bumps heads with Mary (Ritter). Dewey gets bonus points for his resemblance to the first man in space, Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin (left). On Mission Control, Dewey joins recently cast Michael Rosenbaum who plays another astronaut. Dewey, who co-created Sons Of Tucson, starred in the original pilot for Fox’s Dads last season. He is with the Kohner Agency, New Wave and Myman Abel.

It happens all the time. We get attached to a show and for some reason, be it low ratings, high expense, departing actors, it gets cancelled. We’re left with a handful or episodes, or maybe a season or two if we’re lucky, and that’s it. Plot lines are unresolved, questions left unanswered, potential unreached.
But look at all the shows that were cancelled and then brought back, Futurama, Arrested Development, and Family Guy to name a few. Not to mention that a Veronica Mars movie was recently funded through Kickstarter solely by fans. The possibilities are growing as we have more methods to display our love for these shows in the hopes that someone will listen. So here’s to the cancelled shows of yesteryear. You may be incomplete but we still love you.
So click onward to check out my top ten favourite TV shows…that were cancelled too soon.

As you know, Rupert Grint was cast in a CBS pilot called 'Super Clyde'. Tonight we bring you more news in the form of casting of Clyde's older brother: Tyler Labine. This is according to Entertainment Weekly. Labine's other credits include The CW’s Reaper, Fox’s Sons of Tucson, CBS’ Mad Love and NBC’s Animal Practice. This also means that Rupert will most likely be putting on an American accent for the show. (While this seemed obvious to me, there were some out there wondering, so I think this news tells us he will be an American character.) For a recap, "Super Clyde centers" around a meek unassuming fast food worker who decides to become a super hero. We also want to remind you that while Rupert has been casted in this role, it does not mean that this will be picked up by CBS. This is only a pilot.

Tyler Labine and the Harry Potter saga’s Rupert Grint. Brothers?
Sure, why not. Labine has been cast as Grint’s older brother in the promising CBS comedy pilot Super Clyde by Greg Garcia (Raising Hope). The show is about a meek, unassuming fast food worker (Grint) who decides to become a super hero.
Labine has been funny and likable in a slew of recent short-lived shows — The CW’s Reaper, Fox’s Sons of Tucson, CBS’ Mad Love and NBC’s Animal Practice. Will Super Clyde break his streak?...

NBC has released a bunch of trailers and clips for a new collection of TV series that they have been developing. We've got stuff from 1600 Penn, Infamous, Save Me, Next Caller, Do No Harm, The New Normal, Guys With Kids, and Go On. It will be interesting to what shows make it and what shows end up on the chopping block. Check out the trailers and clips and let us know which ones look good to you!
1600 Penn:
“1600 Penn” — The Gilchrists are just the average American family dealing with all the everyday issues – like a grown kid who’s forced to move back home, children who are smarter than their teachers and a stepmom (Jenna Elfman, “Dharma and Greg”) desperately trying to win over the kids. They’re loving, fun and a little crazy. In other words, just like everybody else. With one exception: they live in a very special house.

Chicago – NBC revealed their Fall schedule today and there were multiple surprises including comedies moving to Tuesday and Friday nights (we were wondering where all of the sitcoms would go) and a Fall cycle of the hit singing show “The Voice.” Other major news is that “Smash” is being held for mid-season. The network also revealed that six new shows — two dramas, four comedies — will premiere in the Fall.
The big news for comedy fans is that Thursdays have been tinkered with again as the final season of “30 Rock” will kick off the night at 7pm Cst, followed by “Up All Night,” “The Office,” and “Parks and Recreation.” In the 9pm Cst timeslot that was the kiss of death last season with “Prime Suspect,” “The Firm,” and “Awake,” the network has given up and will air the low-rated but inexpensive “Rock Center with Brian Williams.”

After all of the hype from the fall television premieres has died down, we are now in for the second wave of excitement that happens midseason. If all of the shows that begin airing in September are dinner, then the ones that come in the winter are dessert – of course, that dessert can be horrible, you know, maybe taste a little like Sons of Tucson. This metaphor is wearing thin, so before I start talking about oatmeal raisin cookies and non-fat yogurt, here’s a list of the midseason series premieres that I have my eye on. Napoleon Dynamite Though the film no longer stirs up the kind of powerful emotions it once did – I seldom draw ligers in the margins of my notebook paper these days – I’m intrigued by this animated series based on the 2004 cult hit. Next month, a new sitcom called "Work It," about two out-of-work salesmen who dress up as women to get jobs, will make its debut on ABC. There's nothing new about the premise -- Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari covered the same ground on the early-80s sitcom "Bosom Buddies" -- and the tone isn't exactly novel either. The stars of the show, Ben Koldyke and Amaury Nolasco, are operating in the prevailing frat-boy mode perfected by Bradley Cooper and Seann William Scott.
In May, an 84-second trailer of "Work It" hit the Internet, instantly attracting more blogger rage than most shows accumulate over the course of several seasons. Gobsmacked by the very fact that "This got made! And is going to series!", The Futon Critic lambasted the show's "limp attempts at misogyny," "groan worthy madcappery" and "Mrs. Doubtfire hijinx."

Ever since I heard (then saw the trailers for) Eli Craig’s “Tucker and Dale vs. Evil”, I’ve been curious about seeing the movie. Certainly, it wasn’t because Katrina Bowden promises to go skinny dipping in bra and panties. Ahem. Not at all. The film promises something familiar, and yet radically different. In this case, our heroes wouldn’t be those hunky high school teens/college kids and their nubile and perfectly complexioned girlfriends, but rather the oft-belittled rednecks that populate the woods/isolated locales of most horror movies, thus giving us a horror movie that, for once, is told from the perspective of the country yokels. Now that’s new. The Tucker and Dale of the title is Alan Tydyk (of “Firefly” fame) and Tyler Labine (“Sons of Tucson”), respectively, two good old boys headed out to their cabin in the woods for a little relaxation and beer drinking.

The show is written by Tim Dowling (Role Models), who will also serve as producer along with Jonathon Komack Martin, Steven Pearl and Allan Loeb, who started DarkFire with Reynolds earlier this year. They have a first-look deal at 20th TV.

Fresh off an acclaimed run on the festival circuit comes the horror comedy Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, starring Alan Tudyk, Tyler Labine and Katrina Bowden. The film has a fairly clever premise, great word of mouth and three charismatic leading actors. I just wish the trailer was a little more — umm, what's the word — good.
Tucker (Alan Tudyk) and Dale (Tyler Labine) are two gentle-hearted good ol' boys who buy that vacation home they've always dreamt of, which of course is a dilapidated cabin straight out of The Evil Dead. While enjoying their little slice of heaven, they cross paths with a group of boisterous college kids straight out of whatever horror movie contains a group of boisterous college kids — which is almost every horror movie, I suppose.
Anyway, misunderstandings occur, people die accidentally and, quicker than you can say "high concept," the college kids think Tucker and Dale are redneck psycho killers,...

USA Network is hoping to put together a "doctor in unusual circumstances" one-two punch with its new show Necessary Roughness following the new season premiere of Royal Pains. After HankMed has its way with you, Necessary Roughness will offer up a therapist who finds herself diving into less than the normal routine, and since the world of physical health doctor out of water did so well, hopefully the mental health world will perform as well.
Necessary Roughness has a few more chinks in its armor than most of the new shows that USA puts out, and what stands out most is that it is difficult to tell where it's going, and it's even more difficult to tell who exactly the show is for. The pilot sets us up with Dr. Dani Santino (Callie Thorne) as a therapist who is a fan of hypnotherapy, and the first thing that happens in...

Justin Long is known for being buddy-buddy with the Judd Apatow players.
Early on, he was a young, go-to straight man, playing with the comedic big boys in movies like "Dodgeball," "Anchorman," and "Accepted." Now that Long's eased in to the movie biz, he's been on a mission: diversity. He's dabbled in a little of everything: rom-coms, action movies, horror flicks. He's played the good guy, the bad guy, the kooky bit part, even the voice of Alvin in the "Chipmunks" movies -- there's little the guy won't tackle.
Now with "Lumpy," a new indie comedy which Deadline reports is gearing up to shoot in Minnesota, he's returning to the oddball comedy of his roots.
Co-starring Jess Weixler ("Teeth"), Tyler Labine ("Sons of Tucson") and Addison Timlin ("Californication"), "Lumpy" is the directorial debut of TV writer/producer Ted Koland and follows an engaged couple (Long and Weixler) whose best man,...

Exclusive: Tommy Dewey (Roommates) has landed the younger lead opposite Gary Cole in Fox's comedy pilot Tagged. The hybrid comedy, from Sony TV, Reveille and writers David Guarascio and Moses Port, is a workplace ensemble set at the Los Angeles County's coroner's office that is loosely based on the life of Shiya Robowsky. It centers on Wally Percy (Dewey) who, just fresh out of medical school, scraps plans to work at an UCLA hospital to join his father, respected coroner James Percy (Cole), and his team at the coroner's office. Dewey also co-created the Fox comedy Sons of Tucson.

Sure, virtually no one had heard of Hailee Steinfeld when the Coen Brothers cast her as the lead of their now-hit movie True Grit, but she wasn't exactly an inexperienced actress. Steinfeld had credits on TV shows Back to You and Sons of Tucson as well as movies called She's A Fox and Grand Cru, but she had also done work in commercials like many other aspiring actors. And as much as Hailee might have thought her work for K-Mart wouldn't come back to haunt her as she's on the verge of what might be an Oscar nomination, well, YouTube strikes again. Check out the short video below, in which Steinfeld rocks a pair of bedazzled jeans and explains to the clueless kid sitting in front of her the definition of "blingatude." As embarrassing as the whole thing is, she's actually the star of the commercial, and manages to say...

Screenterrier reported back in February on the casting of 13 year old Hailee Steinfield in the Coen Brothers remake of the classic John Wayne Western True Grit.
Now turning 14, in an interview with ABC news, Hailee gives more details on the casting process that she went through to get the part.
To find their Mattie, casting directors Ellen Chenoweth and Rachel Tenner knew what they were looking for: "We had a prototype: Linda Manz from 'Days of Heaven,' or a young Holly Hunter, Tatum O'Neal, or Jodie Foster," said Chenoweth. "We didn't rule out better-known actresses - not that there are that many in that age range - and we did see some, but they weren't right."
The pair traveled to 10 cities throughout the South and Southwest, seeing more than 5,000 actors. "In the end, they found me in their own back yard," said Hailee.

If there are those of yout hat have been waiting for a time where I sit down to write this column and finally stop talking about Doctor Who than I’ve got some really good news for you: next week will finally be that column. This week, however, I’m still bubbling over having re-lived The Big Bang and just dying to speak about it in full now that it has finally aired in here in the Us of A.
Unlike season finale’s of the past this whacky bit of timey-whimey goodness did something that I wasn’t expecting at all in becoming a fairy tale by the episode’s end. It kicked off rather fast paced from the moment that young Amelia gets up from praying to Santa and doesn’t really stop until we finally learn how the Doctor plans on un-doing the event that caused all...

We might have seen the last episode of Scoundrels on Sunday after ABC's original scripted drama sunk to a 0.6 rating/2 rating in adults 18-49 at 9 Pm last night, down 14% from last week. That was an all-time low for the show and matched the 0.6 18-49 rating fellow ABC drama Happy Town pulled before being yanked from the schedule. ABC's other Sunday scripted summer series, The Gates (0.9/3) at 10 Pm, seems to have leveled off after the initial decline and was flat from last week. ABC's highest-rated program for the night was 7 Pm leadoff America's Funniest Home Videos (1.4/5 in rerun), followed by 8 Pm anchor Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (1.2/4, also in rerun). CBS' Big Brother (2.5/8) was up 9% from last week, followed by repeats of Undercover Boss (1.4/4) and Cold Case (0.8/3). Fox won the night with comedy reruns, led by back-to-back Family Guy episodes at 9Pm (2.3/7) and 9:30Pm (2.5/7). Its original Sons of Tucson at 7Pm...

ABC's original scripted series Scoundrels (0.7 rating/2 share) and The Gates (0.9/3) both posted double-digit declines in the 18-49 demo from last week, 13% and 10% respectively, hitting all-time lows. Once again first-run scripted shows were the lowest-rated for the night, with Scoundrels and Fox's Sons of Tucson original (0.6/2) at 7 Pm. CBS' Big Brother (2.3/8) at 8Pm, the only other original entertainment option on broadcast, was the top-rated program for the night, down 4% from its Sunday premiere last week. July heat continues to keep people away from their T.V. screens on Sunday nights, unless, of course, they're parked next to their air conditioners watching "Big Brother."
CBS took the night once again with "60 Minutes" and "Big Brother", giving the net an average of 6.3 million viewers and a 4.1/7 share in households. Following CBS was NBC (4.6 million, 3.0/5), then ABC (4.0 million, 2.6/5). Fox trailed with 3.2 million viewers and a 1.9/3 share.
Though Fox's half hour lineup couldn't get them a ton of viewers, it did secure them a win in the target 18-49 demo. They had a 1.5 share, followed by CBS with a 1.3. NBC scored a 1.1, followed by a 1.0 on ABC.

Being home for the summer means attempting to take back my chair from our cats who appropriate it for their own purposes when I'm not around. Unfortunately, their response to finding me sitting in the chair working on my laptop is usually to sit on top of me and occasionally on top of the computer. I am, right now, writing this column without being able to see my keyboard because there is a cat in the way, kneading my stomach which has a protective layer of towel over it because otherwise her wee claws go through to my skin and leave tiny little pin holes all over my torso. It's an attractive look. Here's tonight's TV, from both the cat and I:

Fast National ratings for Sunday, July 11, 2010
Much of the TV-watching public apparently had better things to do Sunday night, as ratings across the board were pretty soft.
Someone had to win, though, and thanks to "60 Minutes" and "Big Brother" that was CBS, which averaged 6.4 million viewers and a 4.0 rating/7 share in households for the evening. NBC (4.9 million, 3.2/6) came in second, beating out ABC (4.1 million, 2.5/5). Fox trailed the overall race with 3.1 million viewers and a 1.8/3.
Despite finishing fourth in viewers, though, Fox's comedy lineup scored the highest adults 18-49 rating of the night -- although it was only a 1.4. CBS took second at 1.3, followed by NBC, 1.2, and ABC, 1.1.

The network also aired an original Sons of Tucson (0.7/2), which finished last in its 7Pm slot just like all the other original scripted shows last night: ABC's Scoundrels (0.8/2) at 9Pm, down 20% from its last original 2 weeks ago, and ABC's The Gates (1.0/3) at 10Pm, down a more modest 9%. Here in Maryland we're experiencing the sort of unrelentingly hot, breathless summer weather that makes it basically unbearable to be outside unless you've got a pool handy to jump into every hour. The dogs are miserable, the cats are miserable, and all us people are feeling lazy and damp. Bleh. Here's your Sunday night TV:

"Dateline NBC" on NBC.
"Sons of Tucson" on Fox. New time slot.

9:00 p.m.: "Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business" on VH1. First season finale.
