Standing in front of a raucous sold-out audience at the Macon City Auditorium in Georgia on Friday night, guitarist Duane Betts paid tribute to his late father, Allman Brothers six-string ace Dickey Betts, with a soaring cover of “Ramblin’ Man.”
“And when it’s time for leavin’, I’ll hope you’ll understand,” Betts howled. “That I was born a ramblin’ man.”
“This means everything. It’s my father’s legacy,” Betts tells Rolling Stone backstage. “Everybody’s here for the right reasons — to celebrate a great man, a great visionary of music.

The DC Universe has just had a huge clump of clay thrown into the mix -- one that's set to be carefully molded by the master of both horror and heartbreak, Mike Flanagan, as the film's writer. Back in 2021, the director behind "Doctor Sleep," "The Haunting of Hill House," and "Midnight Mass" revealed he once pitched a solo film focusing on the Batman villain Clayface. Unfortunately, much like his planned Stephen King movie "Revival," the project soon after found itself on the shelf collecting dust. Well, now Variety reports that Flanagan's "Clayface" movie is back on the pottery wheel and is slated to be produced by "The Batman" director and "The Penguin" producer Matt Reeves (along with his 6th & Idaho Productions partner Lynn Harris).
The bad news for some Flana-fans is that while he'll be returning to the project to pen the script, he won't be handling directing duties, as...

Horror legend Stephen King has written a fair few books over the years. Ever since he burst on the scene with "Carrie" in 1974, he's given fans at least one book nearly every year. Since most of his work has been extremely popular, he's also established himself as a bit of an authority on the horror front -- and isn't shy about commenting about either the genre or his craft as a writer.
Thanks to King's status as a horror luminary and extensive work in many other genres, we've analyzed his work many times before. You may have seen us discuss why King's endings have a reputation for being disappointing, look into his biggest career regret involving (of all things) a forgotten TV commercial, and examine the one Stephen King book that will never get a film adaption due to the author voluntarily scrubbing it from his catalog.

The star-studded show, dubbed “Mark Lanegan 60 – A Celebration,” was held in honor of the late singer’s 60th birthday (he would have turned 60 on November 25th). The Screaming Trees frontman and erstwhile member of Queens of the Stone Age passed away in February 2022 at the age of 57.
The 30-song setlist featured the performers singing mostly Lanegan’s solo tunes along with three Screaming Trees songs and one Gutter Twins number (“The Stations”).
The show was divided into mini sets, with Gahan singing the first four numbers, then Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream) and Alison Mosshart each singing a block of songs. Lanegan’s Gutter Twins bandmate Greg Dulli took on four songs, including the aforementioned tune “The Stations.

Unlike his friends Gary King and Daisy Kelliher, Colin Macrae may not return to the Below Deck franchise. The former chief engineer began his reality TV journey in 2021 when he joined Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 2. Colin performed well as chief engineer in his debut season, handling his duties effectively and showcasing exceptional skills. Captain Glenn Shephard was impressed and invited him back for Below Deck Sailing Yacht seasons 3 and 4.

It’s hard to imagine a year going by without one of Stephen King’s horror stories being adapted for the big or small screen.
Some of those adaptations have gone on to be some of the most recognizable movies around – films like “The Shining,” “The Shawshank Redemption,” and “The Green Mile” to name a few – but a disturbing trend lately is circling back to certain stories for new attempts at adapting.
“It” got split into two movies at the end of the 2010s, “Pet Semetary” has had multiple films, “The Stand” has received multiple limited series adaptations, and now “Salem’s Lot” has been done for the third time. It’s time for something new.

Mike Flanagan has cemented himself as one of horror's truly great modern storytellers. From his miniseries on Netflix like "The Haunting of Hill House" to underrated gems such as "Hush," the man has earned the trust of viewers. He's also earned the trust of Stephen King, as Flanagan has made two movies based on the author's work; "Gerald's Game" and "Doctor Sleep." In both of those cases, the material was incredibly difficult to adapt, yet Flanagan got it done. While the filmmaker isn't through with King, there is a project that he wishes hadn't gotten away from him.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter about his new King adaptation "The Life of Chuck," Flanagan was asked if there was a project that he felt was "the one that got away." He was quick to cite his planned adaptation of King's 2014 novel "Revival," which he wrote a script for before the project ultimately fell apart.

Renowned horror director Mike Flanagan has big plans to bring new life to the iconic “The Exorcist” series. Flanagan, known for his adaptations of Stephen King works and acclaimed Netflix series, recently discussed his vision for the franchise in an interview at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Flanagan is attending the festival for the premiere of “The Life of Chuck,” but his focus remains on horror. The director sees an opportunity in reviving “The Exorcist” after the disappointing performance of 2018’s “The Exorcist: Believer.” Flanagan aims to honor the original film while adding something new. “There’s no point going into a franchise unless you have something different to offer,” he said.
Rather than relying on nostalgia, Flanagan wants to push the boundaries of terror. “This is a chance to do something the franchise has never seen,” he explained. His goal is to craft a film that both longtime fans...

Mike Flanagan Says His Entry in the ‘Exorcist’ Franchise Will Be the ‘Scariest Movie’ He’s Ever Made
While “Doctor Sleep” writer/director Mike Flanagan may be taking a break from horror with his latest outing, an adaptation of Stephen King’s novella “The Life of Chuck,” which premieres at TIFF this weekend, let it by no means imply that the filmmaker and limited series creator is done with crafting frights. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter for a recent interview, Flanagan discussed a few of his highly anticipated projects, including a “radical new take” on “The Exorcist.”
“I’ve always felt that there’s no point in going into a franchise or into a property that monolithic unless there’s something new you can bring,” he said. “I chased ‘The Exorcist’ very aggressively because I was convinced I had something that I could add.”
Initially, David Gordon Green was set to craft three new “Exorcist” films that expanded on the original’s storyline, but after his first entry,...

While Stephen King adaptations have enjoyed a new resurgence in popularity in recent years, there's still one underrated book of his, Revival, that I can't believe hasn't been turned into a movie or TV show by now. Revival tells a story over years of a man named Jamie Morton, from childhood to adulthood, and the various run-ins he has with a charismatic and dangerous revival Methodist minister named Charles Jacobs, who is as much a mad scientist as he is a man of the cloth and hawker of religion.
Stephen King's Revival is truly haunting, with an ending about as bleak and memorable as anything I've read in one of his books. As with a few of King's books, there's an underlying thematic exploration of addiction and substance abuse, but also the madness of grief, of scientific exploration driven by fanaticism, and questions about what happens when we die. There's...

Mike Flanagan mourns the cancellation of the Revival adaptation, calling it the "project that got away" due to its dark script and Doctor Sleep's box office underperformance. Despite previous failed attempts, now may be the perfect time for Flanagan's adaptation due to his success with King adaptations. Studio support for the dark ending of King's book may be a hurdle, but with current interest in Lovecraftian horror, a Revival adaptation could still happen.
Though his work continues on other adaptations of the author's bibliography, Mike Flanagan has some emotional thoughts on the Revival adaptation's cancellation. King's 2014 novel followed the life stories of Charles Jacobs and Jamie Morton, the former of whom starts the book as a priest who devolves into a man obsessed with experiments involving electrical healing, while the latter begins as a young boy fascinated by his abilities who frequently becomes entangled in Jacobs' new experiments. Multiple...

Throughout their first decade of record-making, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings performed, they’d joke, as “a two person band they called Gillian Welch.” There was a spine-tingling profundity and a solemn intensity to the universe of sound created when Rawlings and Welch stood around a single microphone and sang songs like “Acony Bell” (from 1996’s Revival) or “Caleb Mayer” (from 1998’s Hell Among the Yearlings) or just about anything from their 2001 masterpiece Time (The Revelator).

On Sept. 8, 2017, New Line Cinema/Warner Bros. Pictures released It: Chapter One, the first of two movies based on the classic 1986 novel by Stephen King and a film destined to go down in cinema history as the highest grossing horror movie of all time, earning $701 million worldwide against a measly budget of $40 million or so.
It: Chapter One proved that a mainstream, high-quality, studio-backed picture could still be made from King’s work, after a nearly 20-year period in which many adaptations either did moderately well (1408), bombed outright (Dreamcatcher), or vanished into VOD hell.
Naturally, eager studios and producers unveiled a new wave of King adaptations in It’s wake, for theaters, cable, and hungry-for-content streamers. For a while, it seemed like every week brought the announcement of a new King title. But seven years, one global pandemic, and two industry strikes later, many of these projects have yet to...

It all served as a reunion for the two after Springsteen joined Bryan onstage in Brooklyn this past March for “Sandpaper” (which was unreleased at the time) and “Revival.”
Both artists will be touring throughout North America for the remainder of the year, so there’s a good chance we could see Bryan and Springsteen sharing the stage once again in the coming months.

During Zach Bryan’s second of two Philly shows on Wednesday, the country star was joined by Bruce Springsteen to deliver a surprise duet of “Atlantic City” and their collaboration track, “Sandpaper.”
“Atlantic City” was written by Springsteen and first appeared on his 1982 solo album, Nebraska. More than 10 year laters, The Band covered the song in 1993 for their LP, Jericho. Stereophonic, the David Adjmi play about a 1970s rock band that prominently features the fictional band’s songs, will perform a musical number at the Tony Awards this Sunday after all.
The earlier exclusion of the play from the musical number line-up was publicly questioned by the playwright and widely condemned on social media among fans of the Best Play nominee.
Traditionally, the musical numbers performed on the Tony broadcast are largely drawn from the Best Musical and Best Musical Revival nominees, which this year include Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, Hell’s Kitchen, Illinoise, Merrily We Roll Along, Suffs, The Outsiders, The Who’s Tommy and Water for Elephants.
But this is no traditional year. Among the 13 nominations earned by the Best Play nominee Stereophonic are two top music-related categories: Best Score (music and lyrics by Will Butler) and Best Orchestrations (Will Butler and Justin Craig).

Last week, Zach Bryan brought out John Mayer as a special guest at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, closing the show with a joint performance of his song “Revival.” Over the weekend, Mayer took to his Sirius Xm radio show, Life with John Mayer, to gush over Bryan’s live show, calling it “one of the most incredible things I’ve seen in years.”
Recounting the experience, Mayer explained that he saw that Bryan’s “The Quittin Time Tour” (grab tickets here) was going to make a stop in Los Angeles, and reached out to see if he could attend “just to see the show.” Bryan replied, asking if Mayer would like to play a few songs with the band.

At A Down-home Eatery near his waterfront home on Florida’s west coast in 2017, Dickey Betts, stout and white-haired but still evoking his youthful intensity, was asked about his imposing reputation. “People are a little bit standoffish because they think if they say something wrong, I’ll be aggressive or something with them,” he told Rolling Stone, adding with his drawl, “But I’m not like that at all. Unless you start saying shit that’s really demeaning, and then I won’t hesitate to …” Betts didn’t finish the sentence,...
