I mean, is a romcom so you cannot expect much of it.
The plot is totally predictable, the dialogs are weak, the side characters don't add too much to the story, everyone's missing deepness, the female protagonist wardrobe feels pretty limited.
Also, there're so many situations that feel so unrealistic, even for movies standards, and the end left a huge problem unresolved.
So, is probably a great movie for children and teenagers, you know, when you're in an age you don't question so often what's going on with movie's plots, or if you are extremely bored and want to turn off your brain a little, or simply cause you're really into cliche romcoms.

I can't even fathom how people spent a minimum of 2 years in film school and thought something like this would be what people wanted to watch. The acting? What acting? I've seen children's plays with better acting than what was on show here. Every trope and cliche can be seen coming from a mile away. We could literally predict the movie from beginning to end. Lowkey though these kind of movies are downright hilarious becuase of how bad they are. I'm sure the producers just used a random plot generator on the internet and out popped this masterpiece. Poor, poor Mena. I'm sure they blackmailed him into featuring in this movie although with the effort he put into this performance, the money must've been alluring.

Not sure why this movie was even made. Its a mix of several different fairytale movies and its not even charming.
Besides the direction & script, the acting is quite stale too.
Don't waste your time like I did.

The accents 😭 need i say more? Ok you convinced me, Laura Marano cannot act. There's always something off and awkward about her performances, even in the Disney world. She smiles too much. Skip this movie and watch a hallmark instead. Same plot and slightly better acting.

Just what I ordered light and fluffy. I'm on to it. Mwah! It was every thing I wanted it to be soft and fluffy like a fairy tale and filled my every need in this moment in time. It will fill your romantic need too. Watch it for yourself.

The Good: It has to get a 1 in order for me to review it, as per IMDB's rules.
The Bad: Pretty much everything. This has to be one of the most visually unappealing films I've ever seen. Its horrendous lighting and sets make Lifetime movies look like Scorsese films. There's a scene where the protagonist is driving off in a car and it's close up on her face for the ENTIRE SCENE. It's possibly the worst way to shoot this kind of scene and a microcosm of the visual choices made during this thing.
This isn't helped by the terrible actors who populate basically every frame of this thing. I didn't know it was possible to get bad performances out of absolutely everyone, but damn. The combination of these factors makes this film quite hard to watch sober.
TRT is the worst is that it's a generic "working class girl meets foreign royalty fantasy" rom-com, but just worse in every facet. The girl isn't just an every girl. She's a walking Italian-American stereotype with one of the most bizarre accents you ever hear, who is about as Saintly as Mother Theresa. She's so unrealistic it's irritating. And the actresses' performance is truly terrible; it's hard to tell where she's supposed to be from and it's very distracting.
The wacky best friends are cackling weirdos who are easily the worst people in the entire movie, with again, bizarre accents. Mena Massoud should really be embarrassed to be in this thing. Oh and that French woman. My God. I wouldn't be surprised if the French government banned this film.
The movie's location, Livonia, is one of the most baffling fictional countries put to film, and indicative of this movie's laziness. It sounds like an Eastern European country, that apparently "was a trade route to India", and as such, has an impossibly diverse population. People of all races live in the typically anachronistic feudal microstate, they all speak English, but all have different accents. If you haven't clued in by now, to say this film is stuffed with terrible accents and performances would be an understatement.
This is all before I get to the plot. I don't want to go on for too much longer, so suffice to say, it's clichéd.
The Ugly: Take a look at this movie. Then take a look at almost any other rom com (except maybe The Wrong Missy). And keep looking.

What a terrible and cheap movie ever.
Cheap story, cheap actress, cheap acting.
This movie is as vulgar and awful as any work she's done so far.
Laura Marano cannot act obviously and apparently.
Also, it seems like joining in this work is a disgrace for Mr. Aladdin in his acting life.

If you're looking for the next movie classic this isnt it. Besides the over exaggerated ny Italian accents the movie was enjoyable. Nothing new nothing we haven't seen before but definitely worth watching for date night or have something to watch other than reruns.
Just a vapid, poorly acted filler movie.
The plot was basically a minimum effort template film: insert one hot/rich guy, one poor "cool girl," make her enemy another woman, make her competition a shallow/useless but beautiful woman, add two one-dimensional (probably their stupidity as the leading attribute) sub-characters to add "comedic relief," and voila. You have basically every similar trash romcom ever made, except this one had a terrible script and one of the central parts of the romcom - the comedy part - was entirely missing.
The only good thing that came out of watching it is I hope, in writing this review, I can save other people from the fate of sitting through it.

Really enjoyed the movie! It was cute, and light hearted, it just makes you smile the whole time. I love Mena and I'm glad to see him in another movie! I think he's a fantastic actor. I really liked Marano and Massoud's chemistry. Overall I thought it was a really good rom com!

Literally the definition of a rom com. It's cutesy and tropey, but it's still enjoyable. I didn't have any revelations while I was watching it, for sure. I did, however, have a fun time watching it.
Izzy is a lovely, dynamic character who doesn't give up her morals the second a hot prince sets foot on the scene and she cares- cares so deeply -for the little guy, for the less fortunate, for her family and it makes her a compelling character.
Prince Thomas is easily one of the best representations of royalty in a modern setting, one whose willing to listen and learn and not repeat his parents' mistakes. He's charming and polite and courteous.
With a colorful cast of supporting characters (we love and support Walter in this house), this movie is a lovely flick and I'd easily watch it again.

I can usually sit through even mediocre romance movies but this one was just dumb. The hair stylists all acted silly and ignorant which is a shame. Casting in general was odd as I couldn't relate to a single character. Just pass on this one...unless you are trying to fall asleep.

The acting is bad enough, but add the awful accents & it just turned to downright nauseating! I get that Hollywood is fresh out of original ideas with movies, but this is pure garbage. Actors must have desperately needed a job!

Okay, not a masterpiece. VERY CLICHE, right off the bat-zero lead up. This screenplay was written with a 5yr old in mind. It's one of those cheesy Hallmark Prince movies but on a super low budget.
All that said, the acting wasn't bad. In fact, the actress who played Izzy was surprisingly good (in my untrained opinion). We have seen the actor of Prince Tommy in small roles here and there, most notably (in the US anyways) on 9-1-1: LoneStar. He played Marjan's fiancée.
Would I watch it again? No, I'm 40, not 5. Was it good for 2am when I couldn't sleep and wanted a feel-good-not-need-my-undying-attention-to-follow? Yes.

I'm in my 30s, so maybe I'm not the target audience, but I wonder who is...7 year olds who are transitioning from cartoons to live action movies? Because this movie is extremely predictable, with terrible characters, overdone, and had no redeeming qualities. It looks like a movie from the 80s, maybe it would have been interesting back then. But a 2022 release of this? Even cartoon movies for kids have a lot more dept. Yes, we all dream of meeting a prince and them falling in love with us because we know how to "keep it real", but this is just cringey. All scenes are cringeworthy, actually. There's just too much wrong with this movie. But then again, maybe a 7yr would appreciate the novel idea.
Larnach Castle Was used as the royal residence. Typically "Hallmark-y" film you know what is going to happen from the opening scene but the journey is the movie.
Terrible plot, bizarre accents, inconsistencies across the board, awful attempts at humour.
The Italian American accents are extremely poor, the stereotypes outdated and childish. Nothing of note. 100% skip.

I just happened to click on this movie on Netflix. I found the story very sweet and entertaining. The cast were great. I always enjoy such simple and fun movies without any complications.

.I'm not really understanding the reason for all the acidic hatred towards this movie. People need to be realistic. They never said this would be another "Pretty Woman", "Besuty Shop" or "Les Miserables"...it's an escapist rom-com.
Sure it's full of clichés and stereotypes, the writing and direction could have been better...all reasons why I Gabe the rating I did. But "awful"? No. Trash? No. Terrible acting? No (but I will confess to some bits being a bit over the top). Will it bring "world peace"? No.
As stated earlier, it's just light escapist fare that I really didn't mind watching.

This movie is an example of how millions of dollars are spent on terrible projects. Movies are an escape art form not cringe down your throat. Netflix if you have a lot of money, why don't you donate it to the poor. Take your trash back.

Didn't finish watching, it went from bad to worse. Stupid script, direction and acting. I can see why Netflixs stock took a dive, Everyone is looking for content, but the quality isn't the same. Nextflix has had some really good original films, but this isn't one of them. Rom-coms make royalty look like fairy tale characters instead of portraying them as real people.
