What brilliant casting. Terrific plot, just predictable and unpredictable, enough to keep the viewer on the hook.
Not at all surprised at the awards.
I watched Hugh Laurie's superb performances in House for years. Clearly he has honed his acting skills immensely in this serial and acted at an entirely new and higher level.
Yet the superb casting goes way beyond Hugh and Tom, a superb combination complemented by Hugh's two ladies, the gang and the brilliant "domesticated" intelligence team combo in London.
All the acting is simply awesome.
The cinematography and direction superb. None of the aspects dominate, except Hugh and that is the way it should be.
Why not 10 stars? Alec Guinness and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy must always be my top Le Carre serial. Not least because of the sheer amount the viewer has to think throughout those episodes.
This one is really good and with nice plot twists but it is presented to the viewer. IMHO not such a psychological thriller but I still love it!
